Hello everyone, Lucas here from Swagger Blonde and I'm back with another quick play video. Just like last time, I've decided to show the Sega Master System some more love and attention by playing the very excellent puzzle game Columns. A very addictive game that requires that the player control an unlimited amount of falling shapes with the goal being to stack them up and eliminate as many blocks as possible by matching 3 or more shapes. The longer the game lasts, the higher the difficulty increases and the faster the reactions must be to try and keep the blocks from reaching the very top of the screen. Eagle eyed players will of course notice that very occasionally, a special flash block will appear and will help you cut down your rows if they are a wee bit to high. I'm playing this using the fantastic 3 games in one cartridge which was a starter pack for the system back in the day.
Now the obvious comparison that people will make is that it's essentially a variation Tetris. To me, however this is no bad thing. It's an extremely good take on the game and will certainly keep you just as busy requiring forward thinking, planning and of course hyper fast reactions

Man this looks really fun. I have this game on a few Megadrive compilations but I’ve only briefly played it in the past. I can see myself getting very addicted to it, even watching the video I can get that feeling! Tetris was a big game for me and this definitely could draw me in for a few hours for sure. I used to play the DX version of Tetris on my Gameboy colour for hours in the 90’s, and there was a version called Tetris Splash on Xbox 360 with online leaderboards and I got ranked something like 62 in the world or something. I mean, that doesn’t sound too impressive but there were thousands of scores on there and the top players were insane so I was quite pleased to place where I did as a mere mortal! 😂 Awesome stuff dude, it’s cool to chill out and take a minute to watch this vid, I been working nonstop on stuff for our new channel, I finally finished that snatcher video I been making for ages. Hopefully with the schedule we’ve made it should be out in two weeks, we’ve planned quite far ahead with what we’re doing! Anyway, nice work dude, great to see this game on your channel!

Thanks so much Dibbs! I whole heartedly agree this is seriously addictive. The game was released way back in 1989 and I can't believe that a 35 year old game held my attention longer than a lot of modern games. I guess simplicity really works. Tetris was incredible and that's so cool that you got to play the DX version as it had some extra modes on it. It's just one of those games that as you said you played for hours back in the day. Hey 62 is pretty good and nothing to be sniffed at. It's definitely better than I could do. i don't know if I'd have the patience. That's such great news. I can't wait to see the Snatcher video. It will be cool to learn more about it as I've heard its one of the best games on the Sega CD. Really enjoying the videos on your channel and the time effort you and Bedgell have put into them really shines through.
