Just ordered the kit. The power of youtube is that I benefit from your videos 3 years later. Hope you are still enjoying these!

Came across this because I will probably be buying a pair of these. I see bikes, guitars, upgrading old iMacs, and speakers! We have a lot in common. I am currently building some Amiga tower speakers but plan on these just to make a custom cabinet. Looking forward to your next video. (I'm also upgrading my 2009 27" iMac with an SSD).

I’m happy to have you! I do love bikes, guitars, computers, and all other A/V nonsense. All I have to say to anyone that mentions possibly buying a set of these Sawns is DO IT! They are AMAZING! Along with building my own custom cabinets, I plan to build a modular powered subwoofer extension (very similar to the Amphion system) turning these into a full tower speaker. Hope to see you around more!

Hey, this vid is just what I've been looking for on these 3.1's. Can you tell me what clamps you are using to glue the cabinets? Thanks

Firstly, congratulations on the 3.1 kit. You’ll love them! The clamps I used are ‘Bessey’ brand that I picked up at my local Home Depot. The others were just old bar clamps that we’ve had forever. The bessey clamps were a little pricey, but came to be pretty well worth their function. Best of luck and keep an eye out as I’ll have the final assembly videos out soon!

@@carsonbarbour1838 Hey thanks for the reply, I really appreciate the lead on those bessey clamps as I'd never seen them before. I'm not sure of your experience with listening to higher end speakers but what did you think of the soundstage on them? Also a lot of people are saying they are pretty bright as far as the high end but there are some forums that discuss modifying the crossover to flatten out the response curve. I'll likely do those mods while I'm doing the crossover. Any who thanks for the vid as its helpful and I'll look forward to seeing the finale on them.

Mrzizzy69 I honestly have zero experience with high end audio, and the only other reference speakers in my collection are my 1978 Infinity towers (fantastic speakers though) but I do have a history with always being on the hunt for great sound. I can say that the speakers are VERY bright, but my room is pretty well damped with carpet, bookshelves, and many plants, so it falls together well. A friend had mentioned the crossover modifications to me as well He is ordering the kit will build his set to those specs so that we can A/B test the speakers to gather more data. The soundstage to me is pretty spectacular, much wider than that of my Infinitys. You can easily place different vocals and instruments, and I often catch myself looking over a shoulder to check if the cough I heard was in my house or in the recording. I do not have a high end stereo by any means, but I believe these speakers are a great start for when I am able to upgrade. The supplied AMD ribbon tweeters are fantastic, but they had a fatal design flaw from the factory that caused some chuffing between the tweeter body and the mounting plate. It’s an easy, albeit annoying fix- but I had to remember that this was a $300 diy kit compared to their $1700 passive M3A loudspeakers. I’ll be producing a video alone on that issue before I have everything finished.
