I love how bright everything sounds except for his voice

It's what made me look up as I was listening to the album for the first time. Not convinced by the songs that come before it, but this came on and grabbed me, and then the Paint It Black chanting chorus comes in in the background and I was mesmerised.

The Swans?

I don't disagree, it'd be cool to see, but at this point it feels like that would be like asking a band to play another band's songs. That said, seeing this song performed live would break my brain in half.

I first heard Blind then the album . It’s pretty special . It grieves me how when this was originally released I was still young and buying The Wonderstuff , , Pop Will Eat Itself, & Gothy stuff like This Mortal Coil & The Mission whom were great for sure but never heard this band and definitely feel like I missed out 🐢👍

you cannot forget the 2000’s too, from 1999-09 micheal went as the angels of light and not only are all of those albums masterpieces as well they’re integral to swan’s musical evolution and can be heard throughout the revival albums, especially leaving. which is actually just a stealth reunion of all the angels of light members. there’s also the body lovers/the body haters from 98 that clearly inspired a lot of revival swan’s sound and structure as well. swans never stopped, only lost the name for a while

also during the 1997 final tour of the original lineup they would play songs live that would end up on the 1999 angels debut album

What the heck are you talking about? I've never seen a single comment on youtube nor lastfm of someone saying they are a very simple band

@@paolovallejo5500 Well, I mean they don't do that much of complex songs. It's not like they would change chords every two seconds or use strange time signatures like, say, the mars volta or King Crimson. They have so many songs with just one or two chords repeated over and over again in it. Which is cool, not bad. So they play simple music. That it's not easy to play those power chords and hard drum fills for 10 minutes is another story. So it's of course not simple to play those songs, and surely their music is no easy listening or simple to understand. They just rather focus on simple, mantra like repetition to achieve what other bands would do with chord changes - to evoke a certain feeling.

@@leonardsimonis2376 You know, I used to get away from my metalhead classmates at high school because listening to them speak about virtuosity in juvenile music without spirit was tiresome. I am not going to assume you are one of them, of course, and you put as a reference two bands considered prog, so it's ok. Since high school I never cared much about virtuosity. Pink Floyd did not care about it either and I was obsessed with them by the age of 13. They had ideas, a concept, a melody and then I went to more underground music and found bands like Swans and, just like when I was younger, it filled my spirit. Virtuosity is ok but not just for the sake of it. I do not disagree with what you said, but to call Swans "simple music", well, it might be repetitive, but the concept, the ideas, it's not an easy thing to come up with for truly virtuoso musicians. They can do complex solos, sure, but to come up with such a rich inner world filled with melodies, textures and poetry, well, let's see them try. This was not an attack, cheers mate.

I think I might be slightly autistic or something because I love repetitive music (when it’s good music), like a lot, this is one of my favorite songs and eras of Swans
