Warning: The transmissions look the same but this is not a direct swap. There is one significant difference that must be addressed. Kent will go over the differences and explain what you can do about it in order to do a successful swap.
This is a amazing story of love and dedication and experience and education all together with relationships that you and your family and friends and co workers have shared with all of us, Thank You from a over the road truck driver of 37 years
Hello i have swapped engine in my w126 280se (M110) to (w123) M110 can i do the same here? Its like the reverse you. And also the contacts on the side of the gearbox are different
You will need more than just a transmission. Best to have a parts car available to guarantee you will get everything. Bell-housing, flywheel, mounting plate, transmission, driveshaft, sedan assembly, etc.
Hi Kent, Just acquired a 73 w114 280. With 722.1 transmission ?. Just wondering can I replace/install a transmission from a 1988 560sl? If so what are the difference. It’s running now but it needs engine & bodywork so I’ll be ordering parts from you once I figure out what I need. Thanks.
As they say, "anything is possible" but it will not fit without machining and extension modifications that could cost hundreds of dollars and hours and hours of time. I would never consider it. Just find a good used W114 automatic that you can bolt right in.. Just my humble opinion of course
