I watched this video just to find the vacuum modulator... I live in the desert and it turns out mine is covered in a thick layer of sand/road grime mixture.
We’re in the process of changing the flywheel/flexplate on our w115 240D. Removal of trans was pretty similar to this OM617. Great video Vito, thanks!! 🚗🔧😀. Definitely more challenging with one person and without a lift!!
I did not watch all of the video until now. I am happy that some one makes a video about this topic. I think the most people knows how to do it. But it is super to not search out every thing. I am super happy about Yout video.
Excellent video Vito!!! you're the man, keep up the good work everyone should appreciate the effort you put into making these videos, so many of us benifit from your videos, thanks again brother!!!!
Hi nice job . What other transmission do u recommend for a 1977 w123 mercedes. Mines does not work with vacuum am not getting 4th gear it's mechanical works with a rod connected to throttle up on the valve cover . Any ideas thanks
Thank you, Super helpful. Do you know if there are significant differences between what you did and what one would have to do for the removal of a 1987 300 D (722.3 tranny) 124. If you know, could you tell me what the differences are or direct me to a site I could find out.
My son's 300cd transmission started slipping tonight, I thought to myself... I wonder if Vito has done a video on removing the transmission on W123~ and of course you have. Thanks for the great video, I am hoping it is just a VCV or leaky vacuum line. I won't know till tomorrow.
so... after a 2 day stay in ICU - I can report that I believe I located the problem. I had the car on ramps and was just looking for vacuum lines and the car slipped out of PARK. 2nd degree burns and nearly crushed to death due to me being on a creeper (I did notice a ton of slop on the linkage from shifter to the tranny before the incident). About the time I saw that the car literally lurched and rolled down the ramps. I had my son under the car with me and no I didn't have the wheels chocked. Totally dumb I know and have never seen a car pop out of PARK in my life. We are both fine- I lost a lot of pride and feel as dumb as a box of rocks putting my son in such danger. I will keep you posted to the progress on the SINISTER BLACK 300CD!
300CD at last Guy Ohh Jesus... I am glad you guys are okay!! That's crazy, I have no idea how that could have happened!!! Next time please chock the wheels. No don't say that, we all learn from our mistakes! It would be good to change those 2 shifter bushings at the same time. Your shifter will feel more firm. The bushing close to the transmission is a pain to replace. I did them both while I had the trans out. I used channel locks and a socket to install the bushings
VITO'S GARAGE I watched that video you did and decided to buy the special tool mercedes source makes to see if i can do bushings with tranny in car. I will let you know if i was successful
Thanks for the video, I have a W126, 1991 350SD and my reverse is not working. I need a used transmission but can't seem to find one. Does anybody know what other Mercedes uses the same Transmission as my W126? Thanks
It’s a pretty common problem with reverse gear on these cars. I have a 1991 420SEL and the reverse is going out. I’ll be rebuilding it myself sometime in the future. Not sure when exactly. As far as the transmission, the one from W124 300D will work as well as from W126 300SDL. Look on the right side of the trans. It should have the trans part number
@@VITOSGARAGE Thanks for your reply, that gives me more options to shop around and see if I can find a used transmission. As far as rebuilding it an auto shop wants $5500, but with your video I might order a rebuild kit from Ebay. I just need to find the right one. Thanks again for your time.
Before I try to rebuild it I was told to change the transmission modulator, I also discovered a disconnected vacuum hose the runs from the vacuum control valve that has a 90 degree elbow on the side but I don't know where it connects to, it runs next to the fuse box but there's nothing there. Any advice? Thanks
I don't like camera work.can't you guis ask someone in house to point the camera . Some parts of Video could be valuable but are"missing " parts could be catastrophic-this happened to me :I separated engine from transmissions but not completely something was still holding them . I look in many videos for answer. There was no explanation so I call my friend mechanic Ricki and hi finally told me about hidden window the access to bolt still holding train and engine. I realize that#1 rules for doctors " Primo do not harm " should be a plaid to RU-vid tutors
