I love purple.I think we all gravitate to a different palette.something I feel we need to have an artist swap. I like the set of 10/12 for that reason

The manufacture likely found it necessary to package the tin in plastic because the product is water soluble. Humidity, rain and other factors could easily affect this kind of product while in storage and during shipping. It's not necessary for every kind of art supply to come wrapped in plastic but water and humidity will completely damage water soluble items and other supplies like pastels and charcoal. Also, water damage could lead to the supplies growing mold as well. While I wish there was a better alternative, sometime there are reasons for the plastic.

Yes, I definitely can agree with the reasons you shared here about why they used plastic. Sometimes it's necessary and I definitely would rather my product get to me in "new" condition.

I splurged on the set of 40 a few years ago when I found them on sale. I love them and use them a lot in my mixed media work. I've never swatched them out though...I will now!

I can them being so great with mixed media work. I would love to dive further into that arena for fun, but I think it would also mean lots more $$$ on all the fun supplies ;)

How would you sharpen?

Hi Susan! I had a question. These seem kind of similar to the Derwent Inktense pencils. Once the inktense has been dissolved and dried it becomes waterproof so additional layers won’t reactivate it. Are these waterproof also once they’re blended & dry?

Hi! Good question - I should have included that in the video. Once these have been dissolved/hydrated and then dried, they do not reactivate (similar to watercolor paints). However, it appears that they have to have been completely dissolved and dried. For example, if the wax pastel received a wash of water and is partially dissolved but there is still crayon texture showing and then water is added (even after it's dry), that part with any remnants of the pastel that are there will reactivate and continue blending. Hopefully that makes sense!
