Good stuff Andy. I did enjoy the jokes about the shingle. Just wait till you get to Chesil Beach there is a bit of Shingle there. I would definitely recommend doing some walks in Scotland. There are many stunning places across the mainland of Scotland and the Isles. As a starter/taster have a look at Loch Ness 360° Trail or John o’ Groats Trail. The secenary in places is absolutely stunning.
That shingle is tough. My legs were like jelly when I got to West Bexington. The summer route was under water when I went throught, so I also had to stick to the beach.
I did look back on a video I watched before starting the coast path and they were in ankle deep mud on the summer route. Portland has a few diversions on the start of it when you get up on the cliffs that are not signposted very well Paul. I bumped into a local walking his dog that took me on a back route around them.
