SWEENEY TODD FINAL SEGMENT performed by Bartlett High School, Bartlett, IL April 2009. Sweeney- Vince Pribble, Mrs. Lovett- Michelle McCarthy, Tobias- Trace Hamilton.
my school put on a production of sweeney todd and sweeneys wig fell off on stage in the middle of a killing. so the guy playing him told the band to shut up or he would slit their throats as well, so the band stopped, he picked up his wig and placed it on his head. he stood there in the same position he was in when his wig fell off expecting the music to play but it didnt start playing so he yelled out to the band 'I'M READY NOW GOD DONT MAKE ME COME DOWN THERE'...i was playing mrs. lovett that production and i came back on stage in tears it was so hilarious XD
Idk if my high school will ever do this but my dream role would most definitely be the Beadle because I know I can pull it off, well all characters are great I know I look right the part lol. Hopefully my high school will do this
My *Catholic School* is doing Sweeney Todd. I ain't taking part (I'm too stage fright but I love Sweeney Todd). Keep in mind that my *CATHOLIC SCHOOL* IS DOING THIS PLAY.
@FleetStreetNightmare Thank you so much for the comments. As far as the wig goes, that was at the actor's request. We did need to wig him though, he had really short curly hair and looked too clean cut. We needed something to make him look more 'menacing'.
i have to say this is so impressive i love how you all used the movie hairstyle for sweeney and the broadway version for mrs lovett and overall its just so fantastic
The set looks more intense than most stage productions i have seen (in person) That is insanely impressive! I dont mind the movie look so much, but I think they really could have done without the wig for Sweeney, that's just distracting, he could have just used his own hair and idk sprayed the white/grey streak in But anyways, awesome production. I wish my school would do that, but I honestly think given my Sweeney knowledge, my school would disappoint me and prob just destroy the show
this work is really good!!!! this is a high school!?? so much money and careful detailed put into this. and the actors did this very well!! it’s amazing.
@benjamminjensen Yes this is the school edition. Not much was changed. The Judge's number was removed and there are alternative lyrics in a few spots but those are the major adaptations.
i really wished my high school could do this but im afraid they're just gonna say that "it's too violent" wich i mean.. with the blood and murdering and everything it makes sense but like still
Oh I see. Yeah, the actor playing Sweeney requested the Depp wig- look and if you look at the original Broadway production with Angela Lansbury , Lovett's hair (wig) was based from that not the movie. wasn't Lovett in the movie just a messy up-do? Don't remember, only saw it once when it first came out.
Idk if my high school will ever do this but my dream role would most definitely be the Beadle because I know I can pull it off, well all characters are great I know I look right the part lol. Hopefully my high school will do this
@introspecttheatre lol oh if his curly hair grew out a bit longer they could have just used that I guess. but yea I get what you mean. Anyways great job! Im still jealous that my school cant do this, we fail at life :P
Please. Johnny Depp is a fine actor but Sondheim's superb score deserves stronger voices than the ones Depp, Helena Bonham-Carter, and Alan Rickman could provide. Some of these high school casts were actually better.
