Betty Buckley hasn’t lost the ability to command an audience, and I doubt she ever will! I love her so much, I regret not seeing her in Hello, Dolly! And if I were older, I could’ve seen her in Sunset Boulevard or Cats, I’m so glad there are videos like this so the world can see her brilliance, thank you for this! 🙏
@@aarontakesbroadway .....also saw the original Follies at the Winter Garden, and saw it in London with Eartha Kitt singing I'm Still Here (and the Lincoln Center concert version where Carol Burnett sang it) 😎😎😎
@@rugby8-Philadelphia OMG I love Follies! I’m Still Here is my favourite song, thank you for sharing, I am really a major fan of the 1998 version of Follies! You are so lucky to have seen so many productions, I’ve never seen one in person but I wish I could, hopefully I will in the future! Hopefully that Follies movie will actually happen in the future! 🤗
@@aarontakesbroadway It'd be so freakin cool if they ever Do make it!! In the late 1980s I Music Directed and conducted a production So damn awesome to work on!!
Oh wow she sounds fantastic here - I really enjoyed her Hello Dolly recently - though some of my friends felt she had lost something. I disagree most heartily -this performance shows she has it still!
You are the first person to mention the fact she may have lost a little something. I am a dedicated Betty Lynn fan. For many, many years. Traveled the country from coast to coast for her concerts/plays. Saw Hello Dolly and the voice was different. Yes at 72, the belt is not as powerful. The vibrato a bit forced. She still can interpret a song like no one else.
No doubt Ms. Buckley gives 100% Always, every time , Even though it is sometimes somewhat not a pleasant experience for an uninitiated audience. My advice:: Lighten up the angsrt , Betty, we got plenty without your well-intentioned, absolutely professional slightly indulgent performance. Love you.
