Oliver is right, snaps are key, I feel like not enough people use them. Way less time messing with knots, and saves a shitton of line.

I think this is my favorite episode of this season!! The lack of black drum and changing plans made the video more relatable. And while those big swim baits like those i was watching Oliver use never leave my tackle box for some reason, you MAY have inspired my to tie one on. Thank you!

Good call on the snaps. I got into them when I started fly fishing for carp. If I have a few optimal presentations and no takes, it's time to swap flies. If they are being EXCESSIVELY finicky, I still use a tippet ring (sans snap) so I can replace the tippet quick due to the retying. Don't make your life harder than it needs to be.

Why us a tippet ring..? Then your getting a less natural presentation and replacing tippet as well.. just double surgeon it if you need to add tippet lol also the idea of carping on the fly with a snap seems counter productive, the whole point is to have a stealthy more natural presentation lol

Love using bait especially for cats. For bass,trout,and panfish I prefer fly fishing or light spinning gear but for large predatory or scavenging fish, watching that rod double over or rip the tree branch rod holder out of the mud is a blast. Also @ 0:45 for a split second I thought the Virginia said something else until I clearly read the lettering

I have used those barrel swivel snaps and caught 20 pound salmon I think they work pretty good

I used those cheap ass swivels, ain't ever had no problems. I also use #60 braid line, still never had a swivel open on me. But I have had poles break.

snaps for hard baits only, imo/ime. i’ve never seen a benefit to using them on soft baits. and tying something else on is pretty quick as well. but I generally only tie the palomar knot.

Learned a nifty one in costa Rica because of the lack of snap availability. I was able to disassemble the knot like a snap! Might have to show how to tie it on my channel at some point. But yea loop knots are cool.

Love it but slightly irritated about how they mentioned the blue cats are overpopulated and need to be removed, only to throw back every blue cat they caught :| this is "meateater" isnt it? Why dont they eat some blue catfish meat. Didnt even pull through with the drum-seafood feast they promised but thats fishing lol. Why not adress the overpopulation issue, and in the spirit of meateater, cook up what some people would pass on and turn it into something great? IMO thats the foundation and best part of the whole franchise, harvesting and being creative with food. Not just another throw-back bass tournament.
