I'm from Denmark, and I've never watched a minute of baseball in my life before I went to Boston on a business trip in September 2017. I went to Fenway Park on 29 september and watched the Red Sox lose 3-2 to Houston. The magic when Sweet Caroline was playing and the fans were chanting is a memory I will cherish until the day that I die. Let's go Red Sox!
MANCHESTER UNITED F.C your gonna comment on a red sox video about soccer? 95% of sox fans and boston sports fan would say soccer is gay including myself so get outta here! SOX NATION BABY!
Taylor If it’s any consolation, every time somebody plays this on the jukebox at the bowling alley where my husband and older daughter bowl in a duck pin league (same league, different teams), the whole place explodes during those two parts of the song! I hope that “tradition” never dies!
@@subdubryan If you'd ever been to Fenway Park, you wouldn't think that. The enthusiasm during Sweet Caroline is a feeling you can't really grasp from a video alone.
Thanks for being a fan!! I just wanna appreciate you in particular for being a fan and you should keep supporting me it brings me so much joy that I'm able to put smiles on your faces and hearts.🌻🌸
Boston is a great city man. No matter what team you root for, Boston sports fans have such a love for their teams. They love their Red Sox, they love the pats, they really love their b's hockey teams, and they love their Celtics. You just have to have a level of respect for the Bostonians.
Khristian Seeley I agree. I live in Pittsburgh, and even though we have some pretty great teams with plenty of passionate, die-hard fans (especially in football and hockey), in no way can the passion surrounding Pittsburgh sports equal the passion surrounding those of Boston sports. Go Sox!
DirtySteak New York fans are not the best sorry to break it to u but when a city that has been as dominant as Boston all these hundreds of years u can't beat the passion.
Saw a game at Fenway last year; we lost badly to the Angels. But then they played Sweet Caroline. They only played part of the first verse, but the crowd wouldn't stop singing. The batter had to step out of the box and wait for us to finish! This song, this tradition, is powerful in the Red Sox Nation!
I had studied abroad at Boston University. This song always reminds me of wonderful life at BU. I miss all the people I met there. Hopefully I can go back to the beautiful town and visit my favorite ballpark again. Love from Japan!
I'm brazilian and Red Sox fan. Baseball isn't popular in Brazil but I always watch the games that I can. I Love baseball. Go Red Sox!!! One day I will go to Fenway.
Pedro, make your dream come true!! Fenway is a great park, regardless if the Red Sox win or lose you will enjoy the experience and Boston (and New England) as a city, has a lot more to offer!! All the best my friend!!
Life long yankee fan made it out for my first time to Fenway recently. Have way more respect for Red Sox nation after my trip there some of the best fans ever, respectful for the most part and really love their team. Cannot wait to go back for another game
I was raised in Philadelphia, grew up a Phillies fan. I spent a week in Boston last week and went to a Red Sox game. I was absolutely intoxicated by the baseball culture and the city in general. When the entire stadium sang this I got chills and I'm now a Red Sox fan. What an amazing team for an amazing city
Zach Haines I'm a Yankees fan, but the baseball life in Boston is just AMAZING. After I went to Fenway, I had a different change of heart about the Red Sox. I actually went the year that the Sox won (2013). I wish the Yanks would have kept the old stadium like the Red Sox (great fans and great ambience).
Rajeev Lele Thanks so much Rajeev! I'm a Bostonian and Sox fan (life-long) and there is nothing I like more than a game between the Sox and the Yanks. I hope you realize that we "hate" you only because you are our next-door neighbors, and you are good, really good (kind of like a 'whose-got-the-better-lawn' kind of thing) otherwise it wouldn't be as much fun. :)
@@dredrikTIMMONS I think they mean when the pandemic is over, people will gather back to stadiums and be more insane then ever because they would have been isolated for more than a year
Boston has such a love for sports, even when we loose you still see us celebrating. Life here is like a dream from the accents to the guy complaining to the cop that he was going to move his car. It is a memorable place.
I grew up in So-Cal but my favorite uncle was from Providence & was a huge Sox fan. He passed his love of the Sox on to me, when i was young. Seeing a game at Fenway is on my "Bucket List" for the obvious reasons, but also so I can partake in this wicked, awesome tradition of singing Sweet Caroline with my fellow members of Red Sox Nation.
Im a life long Yankees fan. My son is 11 and the Red Sox are his favorite thing in the world. We are from Alabama. The other night we were watching the Yankees and Sox play each other and this song came on. He sang every word. I looked at him and asked him how did he know that song. He said, "Dad if you don't know that song your not a true Red Sox fan". Made me smile. But still, Go Yankees lol.
As an ALabama and a Red Sox fan I want to say fuck da yankees, but you got your boy interested in baseball and that matters more at the end of the day.
Rays fan here. As heated as our rivalry can get sometimes and as much as I can't stand Boston teams, I gotta give it to 'em for this one. The passion Boston has for its teams is unrivaled across the board. Kudos.
i was smiling the whole video. this makes me so happy idk why. just knowing that everyone is having so much fun and they can just let out all there stress and just sing and be happy
Thanks for being a fan!! I just wanna appreciate you in particular for being a fan and you should keep supporting me it brings me so much joy that I'm able to put smiles on your faces and hearts.🌹
I life in NJ and a Yankees fan but love the state of Mass. we need to respect each other. I love watching how happy people are when this song comes on during game. Live and let live. Be happy.
I'm from Texas, but the Sox are my favorite team. When I started watching sports, the Red Sox had won the world series. Ever since then, I loved the Red Sox with a passion.
I'm a Rays fan so obviously y'all our Rivals but I won't lie does look like amazing moment at y'all's games and Fenway looks like such an amazing Stadium
I’m French and when I will come in US, to attend to a MLB or football game, I want to hear « Sweet Caroline » 😍😍 For me, the atmosphere of the American Stadiums is great !
Sweet Caroline was first played at Fenway Park in 1997 after a Red Sox employee in charge of music at the park played the song as a tribute to a friend who had given birth to a baby named Caroline. The song caught on and has played before the bottom of the eighth since. So there is an actual Caroline who this tradition stems from. She would be around 26 now.
Diamond was very friendly with the Kennedy’s then and he also went to some of the rallies he wrote this while on a plane and of course the Caroline is Caroline Kennedy
If you guys ever go to a Red Sox game, it's literally the best thing ever. We're always so hyped especially when this comes on. It's so loud but that's just us :,)
Today I went and watch Georgia blow out Arkansas 37 to nothing. The game itself was okay, but what really blew me away. was the DJ. In the middle of the fourth quarter, he put on Sweet Caroline and invited all of us to sing. I now thank for introducing me to this beautiful song. Seeing the entire stadium 100,000 strong sing was truly beautiful. 'm sure I'll sing it while I sleep tonight.
We are opening back up for the season with a very different amount of fans we are all so use to being in the stadium with... but it’s closer to this than we were this passed year. We will be in this moment again together Boston♥️ till then we are all connected through the love of our team.
I was at Fenway fall 2022 when the Yanks rolled in. Judge was going for the record. "Sweet Caroline" is a forever moment for me. Oh, I'm an LA boy, was visiting a friend and bleed Dodgers Blue. Doesn't mean I can't see the beauty in other things baseball.
I'm a life long Los Angeleno and I can say that yes this country has its issues but when it really counts, and a fellow American city sees tragedy like NYC' after 9/11, New Orleans after Katrina and Boston after the bombing, the rest of will band together and support that city. I remember whenever a Boston team came to play LA or anywhere in CA, there was an standing ovation for the team's players , including the Patriots. The whole country was rooting for Miss Massachusetts to win l Miss America that year and as far as I can remember, she did or at the very least, she placed in the top five. When we band together and put aside political divisions, that's what makes us at our best
Some info on this 'new' sports anthem(that has since spread across the world): The Boston Red Sox started this tradition of singing along to Sweet Caroline over 20 years ago. Neil Diamond has given differing accounts of who the Caroline in the song is meant to be, but it's popularly understood to reference then-11-year-old and current US Ambassador Caroline Kennedy, daughter of Prez John F. Kennedy.
I'm a lifelong Mariners fan but... naw, still a lifelong Mariners fan. Lose, lose, or lose. Traditions like this are cool though. If I ever found myself at Fenway I would probably sing aling. The Mariners have a long standing tradition as well. It's called losing. We do it every year. It's sort of a big thing.
Family moved to Boston area Nov. 1954. In 1957 Dad took my brother and me out of elementary school at lunch time to go to a Red Sox game against the Yankees. Sat behind home plate but not under the netting and Dad almost caught a foul ball. Been a member of the Red Sox Nation ever since. PS: at school the next day those classmates were so jealous!
