My Wife was from Beverly, a north shore suburb of Boston. She, and her whole family were RedSox fans, TO THE MAX! When I found the movie Fever Pitch, I wanted her to see it asap, bc the way the fans act in the movie is EXACTLY how the people in Boston are! They are the ultimate fans, DO OR DIE, they never say anything bad about their Red Sox. The only thing I would always hear, if the Sox were having a bad season was this; “there’s always next year!” I miss her so much! My Beverly Sweetheart died from Cancer in 2021. She lived long enough to see the Sox win the World Series.
I am a long time Mass resident and I have been to Fenway for games a ton of times. It is a good time regardless but yeah a game against the Yankees is on a whole different level.
This song along with the Red Sox makes me think of that in Ted 2: Donny: You know, I really love that Neil Diamond. Especially that song they sing at the, uh, the Red Sox games. It's just so infectious. You just can't help but sing along. [singing] Hands touching hands, reaching out, touching me, touching you, Sweet Caroline...
Granted, I’m a Cubbie fan and are so glad that they finally won everything in 2016. But I do really like the Red Sox. And I love this song when played in Fenway Park. 😀😀
Love this movie for many reasons...but the biggest is, I'm "in" it. Attended 2 opening day games in 2004, the real one, and the movie one. When Jimmy talks about/points at the Pesky pole...I was sitting 3 rows from it. Sadly, the Red Sox lost BOTH their "opening day" games....but they did win the last game of the season...that's all that matters.
I am from Massachusetts and I have been to a ton of Red Sox games but would like to visit Wrigley. You will love Fenway. Boston is not a super late night city but you can have a good time till 1 or 2AM. The best part about Boston is the fact that you don't have to rent a car to get around. It is walkable or you can take public transportation or cabs to get around.
I was at the playoff game when Papi hit the tying GS and Hunter flipped over the wall. The Redsox went on to win. Went with my wife and kids. I think the only game I saw that year. My wife won a raffle for the right to buy the tickets and the money went to charity. Cost $800 for the 4. Best $800 ever spent.
While I enjoy this movie as a guilty pleasure I've met too many Bostonian's to know a real Red Sox fan would never sell their season tickets for a girl.
Me too and yet this was still good movie. I’d buy it off iTunes. I love sports movies, like baseball, problem is I hate the Red Sox too lol Jimmy Fallon is good.
Between 1980 and 2020, so 40 seasons of play that ended in a world series (excluding 1994, when there wasn't one) - 17 world series ended with the team with the better record winning. So less than half. Being the "better team" means nothing when you get to a series. Anything can happen. As for rigged? Come on. Don't be stupid. If they were gonna rig the series, they wouldn't have made it such a boring one where one team steam rolled over the other. lol.
