I am guessing that the red strings are octave markers, much like the pair of two black keys on a piano lets you quickly identify a "C" note. I can't see but I bet there are 12 string groups for every red string. Or maybe 8 strings. Not sure if some harps are chromatic or not.

normally I would have asked a stupid question like who designs your outfits, but seeing how you do your own arrangements, choose the locations, and play so flawlessly, I can only assume that you also design the outfits. I have read your resume and I don't think there has ever been any two people as talented as you, I am awed by you both!

We do not have the resources to hire anyone for anything. Sometimes a fan or a company provides us with a costume or some clothing. We “keep it real” and show what we arrange and then play in "real life" as performance harpists. We are then able to play each song live exactly as you hear/see it in this video without using a backtrack to cover or carry the sound for us. In fact, our live sound is very dynamic and complex when not compressed on RU-vid. Perhaps someday we will have the resources to travel and perform with other musicians, We would also love that opportunity! Thank you, x2!

Dear Both, Since I can’t tell you apart. I can’t believe you can find time to reply with the amount of work you do. Thanks for your extensive reply. The question came up in a quiz so I had to look up the answer, but didn’t understand the part about the pedals. Thanks for your detailed explanation. What got me hooked on your talented performance was when I found 500 miles and Norwegian Wood. So a little search revealed a goldmine of your videos and interviews. Please don’t think me weird, but the day is not ended until I have listened to one of you tracks (with headphones of course) before lights out. I still find it awesome that with all your output (explained in an earlier reply) that you can find time to respond to one of your most avid fans. Thanks so much again and I have always wished I could play an instrument. Left it a bit late now as I am 76 but please keep the videos coming, makes my day. Ed

How rewarding. As I read, study or simply want to hear good music, I look for their names and get to enjoy. If I just want to read, then I close my eyes and put on my hearing aids. When they say to listen with headphones, they're not kidding! There's like a whole hidden dimension to the music that I wasn't hearing with my speakers! E J ~ Thank you for the sweet comment, compliment, and interest. We were in middle school. We have posted our story in the comments under most videos if you are able to spot it. Short version: we earned the money ourselves for small used lever harps... took lessons in classical harp... taught ourselves to arrange music we loved (rock, metal, soundtrack) instead of music that harpists have been playing for centuries... worked every day and put ourselves through a University Conservatory of Music... getting degrees in harp performance. haven't seen too many videos of people being able to make a master piece out of requiem for a dream on harp, id say thats a lovely challenge for you two to accomplish :P would love to hear what you lovely ladies can make out of that score. you made the impossible be seen through metallica and other metal songs so i know you can do it :) keep it going
