I have been thinking the same thing. I guess plants go in and out of style just like everything else. I am sure it will make a comeback one of these years.

That's great! Zinnias, cosmos, sunflowers, and marigolds are all really easy to grow and look nice in the veggie garden.

@@ChristasGarden I've been having a hard time with the cosmos. Have you done a video on them?

@@HoeIngandSowIngGardening They are in some of my videos but I haven't done that kind of video on them. Cosmos actually grow best in poor to average soils. They do well with neglect, lol. Sometimes people give them too much love. I have clay soil, they grow very nicely for me.

I would leave them in, they are tough. I winter sowed these a couple of years ago. They sprouted, then I removed the top half of the 2 liter bottles. I didn't transplant them in the spring, summer, or fall. Winter came and they just sat there looking sad. They spent a whole year in those bottles, lol. I couldn't believe they were still alive. Last spring, I felt sorry for them and transplanted them. They looked bad but they were alive. Last summer, they bloomed a little. This year, they look really pretty. They are biennial and typically don't bloom the first year or they bloom very little. I have heard a lot of people say that they are more like short lived perennials. Mine were also very scraggly looking last year.

Once they form a mat of rhizomes, they will benfit from putting down an inch os composted manure/ soil mixture or just plain topsoil, right on top of the mat. Otherwise the roots remain exposed and the plants suffer. Soon you will be watching them spread and bloom year after year. Some of mine got out into the lawn, and I just mow around them. The seeds are tiny and easily spread - you'll find them popping up all over the place. I have many different colors, from white to almost peppermint-striped to brilliant scarlet and purple! A very versatile plant and so easy to grow you don't really have to do anything.

They bloomed in May and June. Mine barely bloomed the first year, the second year they were great. I think they are supposed to be biennial. Mine are turning out to be good reseeders. Good luck!
