I am pre diabetic and working hard to stay committed to a low card, whole food, exercise, no processed food lifestyle. I am slowly loosing my taste for sugar, but occasionally want a little goody. I use Natures Besti Allulose/monk fruit extract blend, by Wholesome Yum. I found it to be the best for making occasional sweet treats. Especially during the holidays. I am very happy to have found an alternative to sugar. Thank you Dr. Ergin for all your nutritional advice and guidance. 😊

Allulose is derived from Drumroll, enzymatic conversion of corn. To boot, it states that the Allulose syrup is from genetically modified (GMO) corn and therefore contains a very toxic chemical named glyphosate.

Allulose for baking and ice cream, monk fruit for everything else. Allulose reacts most like sugar in baked goods and doesn't crystallize ice cream. Find an allulose that is NOT derived from corn.

For me monk fruit/erythritol win because here In Canada 11$ here at Costco gets you a 800g bag of the stuff while online for your 11$ you get a 240g bag and with it being only 0.7x as sweet as sugar allulose essentially is 4-5x the price of monk fruit/erythritol

I use a product that uses both monkfruit and erythritol. It advertises a 1:1 comparison of sweetness to sugar. But I find that I only need to use half as much to sweeten like sugar. I don’t like stevia because I get an unpleasant aftertaste. Monkfruit rocks!

A nutritionist said in a lecture that erythritol is worse than white sugar in his opinion. Allulose is not a sugar alcohol but seems to be similar. Is allulose bad if erythritol is also bad. Is Allulose a problem for people with IBS?

Not as bad as erythritol, but it can be tough on the digestive system if eaten in large amounts...monk fruit ftw

In future videos, could you address what Allulose is made of? I ate some Allulose and it effected negatively by Liver Enzymes (I have Fatty Liver). I was told not to eat anything with High Fructose Corn Syrup, but found out - too late - that my Allulose was made from Non-GMO Corn, and may have been the reason it effected my Liver negatively. Thank you.

I bought rx sugar because my daughter is pre diabetic and we are changing our lifestyles in our household to essentially save hers. I bought rx sugar. Bc Tomorrow is Christmas and we usually make homemade raspberry lemonade. And I'm looking for substitutes for sugar for the lemonade. Would rx sugar be a good substitute in homemade lemonade?

two questions. Some people have said that monkfruit sweeteners will cause insulin to jump up higher on the next meal. Do you know of any studies that have shown that? next question is if allulose is disposed of through the urine, will long term use put any extra strain on the kidneys?

There is now a monk fruit/allulose product by Lakanto or you can get pure MF drops by the same company. Just know that most allulose is made with gmo corn and burns easier when baking... stick to pure monk fruit!

I was using allulose, maybe a bit more than I should have, but started having issues with it. I had trouble breathing and dizziness. Didn't know why I was having symptoms like that, but then it dawned on me to look up Allulose, as those symptoms started happening at the time I was using it. Looked it up and sure enough those were two symptoms. Threw out the products that had that ingredient in it.
