Future ???first electric car was made a very very long time ago First Crude Electric Vehicle Is Developed. Around 1832, Robert Anderson develops the first crude electric vehicle, but it isn't until the 1870s or later that electric cars become practical.
79k ! There is space between the Swind & the E to add the L ..... 4 hours to charge , so no fast charger ? , After all the watching we don't learn if the price includes upgraded suspension & brakes or what motor its got. Or even if it uses the mini gearbox. . A black numberplate on an 1983 Mini looks wrong & not legal .
So, 11 months on, I have a question. Would they be able to do a conversion for a classic mini that you already have, and take it to them or do you have to completely buy it from them?
Back in the 90's they said Natural Gas was the clean energy for the future. Now they've turned it the most expensive one. Same will happen with electric cars and batteries. Definitely this is not the future, is the future "now".
Looks great & I really love the whole mindset of converted classics but heres a car costing a lot of money which is described as "rough around the edges", she also said those issue would be sorted if you bought one but if they can't sort those issues for a video promoting it I question whether they ever can. Converted classics have a huge potential but currently they are very much toys for the wealthy, what we need is a government that subsidises electric conversions for classics, let's get it done.
Ì suppose if you bought a "classic" mini it would be a bit rusty to say the least,so a lot of money would be spent on restoration, a when you've paid your £79000 it will start rusting again!,
What BMW should have done instead of the poorly disguised monstrosity they went with. The original Mini was the first iteration of the 'skateboard' design, with sub frames at either end of a monocoque chassis for the suspension and engine. Now we just need e-versions of the 2CV, Renault 4 and Saab 94!
@@mynewschannel3100 True, but none of them would have the history or been candidates for car of the century with a design that became the template for pretty much every small to mid sized car that has been built since.
@@mynewschannel3100 The Resto mod for a MG GT with a miata/MX5 engine and running gear, modernized electronics and restored interior was close to 77k UK.
Only worry for me is safety. Modern cars are so.much safer. Don't get me wrong, great classic car, take out for shows or a weekend drive, but a modern EV for daily driver makes much more sense. For £80k you can get a decent EV and a decent classic car.
@Can do Life Not that safety is overrated, I mean in a numbers game (which traffic accidents basically are) safety features are nice to have. You have to be mindful of this while driving them, but oh man these cars drive wonderfully.
79k pounds? What stops me to buy a brand new MINI JCW in a top-notch top-spec comp? And a handful of classic minis. Instead of paying overpriced hand labor up there in "Yu Kay".) Or: Can I buy a citroen ami (5k euro) and just put everything inside the mini (5ish k euro)? Guess it would fit.
What if years from now you were able to sell this (very limited supply of) EV classics for more than that initial 79k investment? ...try getting that with a top-notch showroom EV.
A true classic but. At 6:40, ‘you can even add a navigation system’... or maybe just plug your phone in and use Google maps! Certainly not good value. Way too expensive.
Just cant justify anything north of 40k for anyone other that the mega rich who buy just because they can, and that should really include the extras. Great idea and engineering but not for the people.
79k I'm sorry, but a total rip off. 20k for the electrics? 10k for a good mini? All done! I'll take the good mini and have good cheaper fun in that thanks. Just a waste of technology.
