This is humanity at its best. When we aren't constantly arguing politics and trying to kill eachother, we can actually get along and have fun. And that's what life is about.
Starting at 2::32, the couple dancing are in their 90s, and are favorites in the swing community. Who are they?? The beautiful Jean Veloz. performed Lindy Hop in many movies in the 1930s and 40s and then had a career as a ballroom dance performer! She still teaches swing.dance. Type her name in RU-vid to see her dance in the movies and hear her interviewed about her career. The handsome gentleman is the Reverend Arnold Taylor who served in World War 2 and still fits in his uniform! He comes regularly to Glen Echo and it's an honor to Lindy with him :) . We are soooo fortunate to have them come to the Spanish Ballroom; they are the tie to the Era that created Lindy Hop!!
An update: Rev Taylor ("The Rev") died last month (Mar 2019). He frequently sang at Potomac River Jazz Club events (Sweet Sue was a favorite). Suspect that the music kept him going beyond a normal life span.
@@PotomacTraps I stumbled on this video by chance looking for my favourite swing song, grinned the whole way through watching, especially at the Rev's dance with his dance partner. Sad to hear of his passing even though this video is all I know of him. Looks like he had some fun while he was alive, though, which is about as much as we can hope for. :)
Dancing will keep you young. It is a shame that there is no new 'dancing music'. These are great dancers. Thank you. Those two guys doing the "Alligator" across the floor was a riot. It was banned at my high school prom but people did it anyway.
Wooow!!! mis respetos para todos, pero en especial para la pareja que se ven mas grandes de edad, ya quisiera yo poder hacer un poquito de lo que ellos hacen!!!!
