At 58 years old i lived through a few periods in time that i wish would return and the time when Swing out Sister Everything but the Girl and Basia along with Donald Fagan and Steely Dan is one of those times. Where is H.G Wells and that damn time machine
"MAGNIFICENT" !!!!!...............Again , always leaves me wanting more ! This sophisticated, lush number comes from one of their absolute best albums "Get In Touch With Yourself" from 1992. A tour de force of "70's ish" soul inspired magic , here you can here the glossy overtones of "city street espionage" in the tight percussion and swirling orchestration. No one can take you there like they can. Time and time again Andy has used the best of what was behind us musically and makes it into something even better. And Corrine , with her phenomenal vocal range and seductive delivery plays it for real every time , pure perfection. In my book, no other troupe of musicians can elevate us in this way.......so underrated , but SO FANTASTIC !!!!
Now I know what the Japanese fans knew all along what the rest was missing. This group's artistry deepened with time. Finding new ways to perform the same song like an artist shedding new light on a painting. I'm just awestruck by this performance. I've been there since watching their "Twilight World" video from the beginning. Thank you, Andy, for sharing this performance. Looking forward to many more great "surprises" like this one !
A total regret not paying more attention to this great duo and friends back in the 80's . Now they're all I play , Andy is Genius with all those Instrumentals that I love . I can't get enough !
Absolute beautiful. Music for the soul. We saw Swing Out Sister a few years back in Atlanta. Corrine and her band just make soothing music - erases anything negative in your life.
I paid no serious attention to them in the 80's when they arrived on the scene thinking another pop fly by night group , I'm kicking myself in the ass for that blunder for now I can't get enough and are discovering all their music for the first time !
Oh, man, I love the Latin feel to this live version of the song. It also makes sense this performance would come from Japan, where Swing Out Sister is well appreciated. I'm not sure why the rest of the world fails to see what the Japanese know to be true.
One must say about the British where Americans was once great in live , they took the baton and the are running like there's no tomorrow when it comes to live music. M
my favorite song from my favorite album, had the chance to see them at House of Blues in Hollywood years ago I was so close and they put out a sensational show
Sono stato a Blackheath per il festival e la mia priorità erano Incognito,Jamiroquai,Brand New Heavies ecc ecc...ho sentito Swing Out Sister e mi sono innamorato.. che classe, che eleganza, che bravura...
One douchebag had to thumb it down of course...if this isn't your genre fine, but this is one of the best live performances I've ever heard in my life by ANYONE...even if they weren't my favourite living band I'd say that. Sigh - saw them do this 7 feet from me at the Birchmere in DC, July 2013 and it was..even better. xxx
Perfect. No electronic gimmicks. Stripped down, base, guitar, piano and horns. SOS never sounded so good. Wonder if this concert is available for sale.
unlike the hollywood and US recording industry spoiled brats , the aging process has been tough on Corrine and she doesn't deserve it ! its true life is so unjust .....
Huh? I think she looks great and has the energy of a woman half her age! In fact, I would say that her lack of plastic surgery makes her look better than any of the mainstream “spoiled brats” to whom you allude- she looks like a human being, not a mannequin!
"Calling Andy".. brother that microphone needs a bit reverberation on Sis Vocals.. Everything thing else is brilliant the studio in the making of ALMOST PERSUADED
