I have the smaller version that I like. My boss has this version. It is much easier to operate on an on going basis. The button on the backside to free the staple holder had broken off on my boss's version and had to get a screwdriver to open it up.

Little trick for anyone who's button stops working, if you remove the button there is a little piece of metal at a right angle, if you depress it you will be able to open the stapler again.

Where IS the button on my Swingline No. 13 heavy-duty stapler? I remember being able to easily open the stapler years ago but I guess I no longer remember🤪!

Bought it, first stapling I did jammed with 32 pages. :S It says guaranteed 40 pages no Jam.

Hmm, this is interesting and very unfortunate. What type of staples were you using? Swingline generally recommends using "Premium" s.f. 4 staples or their "Optima" staples for the Optima branded staplers. Thank you for your feedback so people know what to look out for when purchasing!

Pressing down on button wont release cartridge, anyone have any hacks on how to open if button isnt working properly?

It's in the video, but it goes so fast and doesn't show which button to press. I finally figured it out.

On this video he pushes the black part at the top of the back down. On MY stapler, you have to push a pen down the hole in the back and push down on a metal part. Does that help?

The strip of staples is too long for the thing that holds the staples so you have to break the strips in order to make them fit. Is there something I'm doing wrong in order to make complete strip of staples fit without having to break of a piece of it off?

+Susan Bruening There is a compact Optima 40(which uses half sized strips), perchance you have that one? Otherwise perhaps it isn't pulling out far enough? By design, this stapler should fit the entire length of a 210 staple strip. You can also check to make sure you are using standard/premium(not heavy duty) 1/4" staples. I hope this helps!
