I think your welding is just fine. I go with fixed over pretty any day. And with all the cost cutting and cheap this and that, you stiffened that tongue right up. Something can always be made better and since you don't have to make anybody happy but yourself, you can over-fix it to your hearts content. I like improving stuff if I can without going too far overboard and that's a FINE Bible verse. Thanks, keep on fixing stuff and GBWYall!

Thanks! I’ve got a long list of things to improve on this mower. The next thing I plan to do is replace the blade bolts with shoulder bolts so the blades don’t tighten themselves when I run over a log. I think it will also help save belts if I replace the mechanical lever with an electrical clutch. That will probably have to wait until next season though.

@@barntech2291 Wouldn't hurt if the drive system had some 'give' to it so something might slip instead of wringing off. And you've got power there for a clutch. You'll get it and GBWYall!

I think this is great. lol I bought a 60” swisher finish mower last year. Within a week I destroyed it. Bolts came out of the clevis so it come off in my back hay field. Welded it back on making it better. Couple days later the engine mount bolts came out I guess and motor come off. Fell over on deck and caught fire. Tractor supply was great, they returned it no questions asked and shipped me a new one. A year later tires continuously go flat and all my height adjusters are bad and missing handles. $4k bucks, it does take a beating mowing fields after cows have been in them but I try to take care of it. Any useful upgrades will be great.

If you don’t have solid rubber tires you should get some. I think I bought mine at Atwood’s.

any Idea what size axel is on that? I need to replace my bearings on both tires. Thanks for the video.

I think it was 3/4”. I bought tubeless tires at Atwood’s that came with wheels and bearings.

Do you have any videos on how to wire the mower and how to change the belt. Mine is obsolete, and I can't find a manual for it.

Sorry, I don’t. I used the engine and electrical components from a Craftsman mower and wired it like the mower. Also, I modified the tensioner spring to make the belt tighter so it wouldn’t eat so many belts, but that was before I started RU-vid.

I am in the process of rebuilding my swisher 44 rough cut. It has been a beast for about 5yrs. About a month ago, the shutoff valve on the fuel tank broke and up in flames she went. I just rough mounted a 24hp vtwin on it and now i am waiting for the engage cable to come in and she should be ready to get back to work.

Wow! I broke mine a few times but never burned it to the ground. The engine upgrade was a huge improvement for me. I had to modify the suspension and clutch spring because of the new motor though. The other thing I always wanted to do was change the cable clutch to electric clutch. That should save a bunch of belts!
