Just got back from visiting my granddaughter. She wanted to make cupcakes, long story short I filled the batter into a measuring cup so it was easier for her to fill the cupcake liners. By the time we were finished we were both covered in batter. We laughed kissed and hugged, then grandma cleaned the kitchen. My hope is in 20 years she will tell her kids that story.
I’ll second that idea of a cookbook. Easy access and easy to share with others. I’d like a ring binder book with laminated recipes. All the best to your family. 🙏🏼. Enjoy our Easter, from my Ky home to yours.
Thank you & your daughter for sharing this recipe. Making it & your augratin potatoes for Easter. Happy & very Blessed Easter to you & your family. He is Risen! He is Risen indeed. Jesus Christ lives! Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!
Always let your kids help in the kitchen. When one of my daughters was young (about 8), it was summer and she called me at work to see if it was ok for her to make biscuits. I said sure but you have to clean everything up. When I got home there was dough in the kitchen and the bathrooms from where she tried to wash up all the pans, utensils etc she had used. It was a mess, but that’s how you learn. She’s an amazing cook today!
What a sweet (and funny) story. I agree, you should always let your kids into the kitchen. They are way more likely to be good, healthy eaters that way, too!
Thank you so much! We always like to remember who gave us a recipe or where it came from, and this one is extra special since it was one she made first.
Definitely going to try it with different veggie mixes...looks very versatile and yummy may even try it with different cheese mixes too. Thanks for sharing! Have a blessed weekend!
Tom you and Melissa are so sweet together! You both are a blessing to all of your followers! I enjoy every video you post especially when Melissa gets the first bite! 😂
Thank you so much for watching our channel. Your kind words are very encouraging to us. Sometimes taking that first bite is too messy to pull off or it's too hot and my advice to wait until it cools off is met with impatience. 😊 He likes his food hot! We do appreciate that you are joining us at the table.
Hello Tom & Melissa -- I absolutely love your easy, down- home recipes and really appreciate the way you present the directions. Thank you so very much for being here and being " real" ! Peace n blessings be with you all n please keep posting your delicious recipes !
This looks so good and so simple to make. Both of my daughters never showed any interest in cooking, just eating what I fixed. Now that they have gotten older they have asked for a few recipes over years. This one sounds just up their alley.
I love how you include the recipes under your title. I watch and then go for the recipe to write down for my recipe box to share with my kids and grands. Wish all other channels did the same. Alot of good recipes but I can't write it all down. Thanks for sharing!!!
You are so welcome! Have you tried copying and pasting the recipe so you could print it instead of having to write it down. That might be an easier way to get the recipe. We do appreciate that you are watching and we hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend.
Im making this for our Easter dinner! When i get home from work I like to sit and watch a couple of your videos! It makes me so happy to watch them. When theres a new one then its just that much better! Thank you both for including us to sit at your table!! You have given me confidence to try so many of your recipes! Most have come out delicious! A few, not so good, the first attempt. But, I didnt give up and figured out my errors and made them! I truly enjoy watching and listening to the two of you!
Thank you very much for being so loyal to our channel. We really do appreciate your support and kindness. We’re so glad you haven’t given up if something wasn’t perfect the first time.
Made this for tonight’s supper! I used the Normandy Blend. Absolutely delicious!! This is definitely a keeper recipe!! My husband loved it! He is growing accustomed to any new recipe coming from you and Melissa!! He asked if it was a new recipe!! When I said yes, he asked, “from Come Sit at My Table?” ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love how Melissa just instinctively knows how to move in there with the camera to capture the perfect shot. I love how Tom is so enthusiastic about cooking. Couldn't be more grateful for the recipes they're both sharing including this one of their daughter's. Was also proud of myself for knowing what a rue was before Tom said it. lol so from now own when I see butter and flour I will instinctively know oh, they're gonna be making a rue. Can't wait to try this.
I agree with you 100%, I learned to cook by helping my mother. I learned to make cakes, not cake mix either, from watching and helping her make a cake. I am now the dessert baker of the family. I know a lady, her mother would not even let her in the kitchen and she can not even boil water. She even can not even boil a potato and make mashed potatoes. She buys Bob Evans. LOL I even told her just peel a potato, boil it, when done, add butter, salt, pepper, and a little milk if you want to. LOL she can not even do that. She is 71 years old. My nephews both cook because my sister made sure they knew how to cook for survival. All she buys is processed foods, when all she could do is make it. I am so blessed that my mother let me cook and to this day, I cook like my mother, she was a southern comfort food cook. I love to cook, but it is so hard to cook for just 1 person. I enjoy your videos so much.
This recipe looks absolutely delicious! I love watching your videos. ❤ You remind me so much of my Dad! I love how you explain everything in a simple and easy to understand manner. And it may sound funny, but I absolutely love how you make it a point to scrape every last bit out of a bowl or container. I can’t stand watching these cooking shows where they leave half the ingredients in the bowl instead of getting a spatula! 😂 God bless you both! Sending love from Georgia!
Hi Tom & Melissa. I learn from every one of your videos & I'm 70 years young. I think Katie's recipe would be wonderful with boneless skinless chicken cutlets on the first layer, steamed whole broccoli on 2nd layer, then swiss cheese sauce to complete. Served over rice for sure! Joan & Dennis from NY ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
(I broke into a grin when you were listing the ingredients. Almost all my mother-in-law's Louisiana recipes begin, “First, you make a roux.”) I'm trying to eat less meat and this casserole seems to be a great way to accomplish that while maintaining a maximum "yummy factor". Add a salad and some crusty bread and dinner is served. I'm so glad I found your channel.
So glad you use a gas stove. My daughter in law's use electric stove. They think they look better on their counter. Gas stoves are easier to cook with and definitely control your heat.
Thanks for sharing. Looks delicious. Let your daughter know that I'm going to hijack her recipe and add rotisserie chicken to make this a complete meal. For anyone looking to stretch this to feed a family, maybe double the sauce and stir in some cooked macaroni 😋
What a great idea for a recipe. Looks amazing. I think I can smell it from here! 🥰🥰😋😋Thank you Tom and Melissa! Have an awesome Holiday Weekend. Happy Easter 🐰🐰⛪⛪
That dish looks delicious. Thanks to your daughter for making this for you and thank you for sharing it. I hope she still enjoys cooking too. Y'all have a Blessed day.
Good Moring Melissa and Tom another good one. I'm moving to my own apartment me and my brother Curt who is blind. I can't wait to get him in the kitchen and help me cook.Hand over hand. We where both adopted. So have a good day and thanks for the recipe again.
I just made this tonight. It is delicious! I LOVE swiss cheese and until now never toyed with the thought I could use it for cheese sauce (because of the stringy texture when melted). I'm 71 and live alone but I love to cook and although I can never use/eat everything I cook, I love to share with my neighbors. They don't mind either lol. My daughters don't mind either when they have a chance to stop by. I saw this recipe/video a few days ago and decided to make it tonight to go along with chicken marsala. It's one of my absolute favs and this casserole tasted great with it.
Tom and Melissa this looks fabulous. I love Swiss cheese. Such a sweet story of you and your daughter Kaiti. ❤. Have a blessed Easter, and may the Gift of salvation through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ be found, and celebrated this Easter for everyone in this community. John 3:16
Both our girls love to cook. 21yrs. And 23yrs. We all cook in our house. They are both good cooks. They are learning timing to get a dinner on the table with everything ready at once. They love all the cooking shows on TV. My husband is the Grill man and Green Egg cook. So they are leaning that too. We have always encouraged them! Their Grandma & Aunt always told them “ If you can read, you can cook”. Even more fun to watch them cook together 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Looks and sounds delicious! Love what you said about encouraging kids to be in the kitchen. From the time I was a little girl I was always in the kitchen with my mom. She never discouraged me from being there. I learned to cook in a large part by just watching my mom all those years.
That looks delicious! I'm not a big fan of swiss cheese but in a dish like this I think it would be good. I'd love to see Melissa cook one of her recipes one day! Thank you for this video. Melissa, thank you for always including the recipe. Makes it so easy to print out and use right away or keep for later.
Thank you so much. I do appreciate your encouragement to cook and be on camera, but I'm much more comfortable behind the camera. I'm pretty sure I'd be all thumbs with a camera filming me! No one would enjoy seeing that! I am so glad that having the recipe is helpful for you. Thanks for letting me know that.
I just got done cooking pork 😊 and beans first I took an onion with some olive oil in a dutch oven and sauteed it with some tomatoes then I took a two and a half pound pork roast and put flour chili powder Italian seasoning garlic powder salt and pepper and seared it on all sides and covered it with water it came to a boil until it has a crust on it then I added two cans of beans and put it in the oven on three seventy five for two hours
This looks yummy. I think it might be good to add some leftover rotisserie chicken in to make it a whole meal. I taught my kids the basics of cooking and they both are good cooks, and my son loves to cook. I try to involve my grandkids when I can also. Thanks for sharing another great dish and recipe. Happy Easter.
You are so welcome. We think this is good and it pairs with so many main dishes or it can stand alone as a meal with a little salad or maybe just some crusty bread.
We hope to make your recovery a bit more pleasant (if that's a possibility - surgery recovery is a BIG deal!). Thank you so much for watching and I'll say a pray right now for you to have a quick and complete healing!
Thrilled to have the vegetable casserole recipe. First of I don't care for cauliflower, but I know the Swiss cheese is just what I have needed to make it tasty. I think what I have not liked is a yellow cheese sauce. I will make this, and my family will be surprised. It is a running joke in our family" Mom does not eat Cauliflower, haha won't they be surprised it just needed Swiss cheese and Ritz.
@@comesitatmytable9044 It will be a fantastic side with the big Easter Ham!!! Nanner pudd'n cream corn casserole and cat head biscuits!! ahhhhhh heeeeee we livin good in da neighborhood!!
Thanks for the reciept i like your food you prepare you must be a terrific cook i have cooked all my life church dinners, entertaining for holidays and just plain cooking i am from a family of 12 children, and it takes lots of cooking my mom always had food cooked so no one went hungery,my specialty was chicken and Dumplings, everyone wanted them,i have made hundreds of kettle fulls of them and just about every thing else,i am now77 years youn and the lord has blessed me more than i can ever say, thanks again God Bless you and your lovely wife she has the same name as my daughter
Hello, Missy! We have enjoyed reading your comment. We'd love some of your chicken and dumplings right now ourselves! I bet they are fantastic. We really do appreciate that you are watching our channel. Hope you have a nice day!
My Granddaughter and I always made my homemade brownies together from the time she was 3, and now she is 17. We still get together and make them. Some wonderful memories have been made❤
We have made it with lots of different kinds of cheese - sometimes we simply used what we had available. But we are real big fans of cheese so everyone else might not agree with that.
We are glad you are going to try this but if you really don't like Swiss, then try it with a cheese that's your favorite. I think lots of cheeses would be great in this.
I absolutely love love broccoli & cauliflower and this sounds and looks so good. Mmmmm mmmmm😊 Tom & Melissa I truly wish u2 and family a blessed Easter 🌷🐰🐣🌷
Yum. Thank you. My mom used to make this. It is sooo delicious. Sometimes she didn't even use cheese, just the veggies and white sauce, browned a little on top in the oven, soo delicious. Ty🥰
The two of you rock! I have soooo many of your recipes. They're always easy to understand, delicious, and made with common ingredients. I'm sending this one to my granddaughter!
Definitely going to be making this I will probably use all the different kinds of veggies in the Normandy mix just because I love a variety of different kind. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
You are so welcome. All the vegetables would be great. We just wanted to present the recipe as our daughter made it that first time and we all enjoyed it. Thank you so much for watching and joining us at the table.
Enjoy your videos so much! Feels like I'm in the kitchen with my neighbors! Have you tried garlic & a few red pepper flakes in a white sauce? Its delicious, and the only other thing I'd add would after steaming the vegetables I would grate a little lemon rind in a few drops of the lemon juice. Thanks for the recipe. I agree by the way, a cookbook, and some of your stories included would be an awesome cookbook! 😊 Easter Blessings 🙌 to you.
He is working on a cookbook. We'd love to have it ready this fall. Thank you for the encouragement and for watching our channel. We loved your tips, too!
