Another huuuuuge advantage of having different circuits to basically every major part of the system is that in case of a power surge caused by anything, it'd hopefully only fry a part of the whole system, so you wouldn't have to replace everything. When I was a child, my dad religiously kept every electrical system separated on our H0 layout for this exact reason, so when one of our FZ1 transformer malfunctioned, it only fried the signals, but not the switches, lights, or any locomotives on the tracks. So yeah, hats off to you for thinking forward and not relying on one circuit, even tho your reason was different, because you've saved yourself lots of time and money ;)
Hello, this was an eye opener: having the decoder and the motor together in the same assembly. I did not know it existed! This is very smart. An eye opener. Simple decoder’s electronics are cheap these days and in G / 1 gauge they have sufficient room to put them together in the same assembly. Sun finally back in Belgium, I hope the same holds for you. Hi! These massoth switch motors are relatively new on the market and to my knowledge they are the first ones which combine decoder and servo motor in such a small package. So far they are fantastic, I hope they stay that way for a long time.

As you explained each step, you could hear the sense of achievement in your voice, and also at the end, we could almost see the smile you must have had on your face as you sounded so happy, and the track inspectors came just at the right moment - as always.The action of the point blades as the switch, looks very realistic.
Thak you very much! Programming for the first time was a real treat. I have put it off for so long but now I made my first experience and it seems to work just fine :) The slow movement of the point blades looks really good and the switch motor has some serious power to move those blades, that´s what I am most excited about!
Trick with writing lock. Consider setting CV 16 to a unique value on each decoder. Say to the same value as CV 1 (address). Now what you can do is set CV 15 on all connected decoders, but only one decoder will be "unlocked" and accept programming. It was originally designed to allow programming of multiple decoders with the same address (e.g. a loco with different decoders for motor, lights, and sound), but you can also use it for any situation where you have multiple decoders.
That is exactely what I have done as I was programming the bulk of decoders outside. I haven´t had the idea when I was starting to programm in the basement, it took a little while to rap my head around it...
Hi, your subscription is very much appreciated! I am glad that you have enjoyed my video. So far I do like the servo switch motors. They have some useful features which other switch motors don´t have (at least in G-scale). I am very curious about the longevity of those motors but I guess I will find out in a few years...
I like the junctionbox and the cabling, I did something similar on my previous layout... But you should really label the terminals! Secondly, I am using the Evo-X for my Thiel switches since I wanna polarize the frog.
Thank´s! I put labels on the wires as I go along. Since the switch motors are now connectet every cable that goes to a switch is labeled as well. I was considering the EVO-X but the price point turned me off. We will see if the non polarized frog presents an issue later on. I have previous experience with LGB R5 switches. They have the same dimensions and I haven´t had any issues with them regarding power supply on the frog. I guess time will tell...
@@summitrailway with larger locomotives with multiple power pickup points and a power buffer it is not a big issue, but having my little draisine drive around at slow speed with just a small power buffer over the big switches is just perfection ;-) At the moment I am trying to combine the Evo-X with a manual point lever.
Why are you wiring all switches seperately. You could connect them to the track as well and still program them is'nt it? Or do you neeed seperate wiring for programming?
On my `o`gauge outdoor layout i have to programme the switch motor first with the controller ,once that is done i fit the switch motor to the point . This is then hard wired to the track as the DCC signal to operate the motot is sent thro the track ...
@bertduursma917 @1tonyboat Hi guys, let me explain... To operate my signal box I have chosen to install a completely seperat circuit with a independent digital central station. Thus I am no longer able to connect the switch motors direct to the track since this is a different circuit. Additionally I have installed a cable for every switch motor because I wasn´t sure if I will use the Massoth EVO switch motor which has a decoder build in or the standard LGB switch motor which would have required a cable on every individual switch motor to go to the decoder.

Hi Dominik! Auf die Langzeiterfahrung bin ich auch gespannt. Wenn genug Zeit ins Land gezogen ist wird es sicherlich ein Video dazu geben. Was Montage, Programmierung und optische Belange angeht bin ich sehr zufrieden. Der Einbau könnte einfacher nicht sein wobei ich mir gewünscht hätte das bei dem Preis die zwei Schrauben mit dabei wären... Die Programmierung war selbst für mich als Anfänger zu bewerkstelligen, nach dem dritten Antrieb ging das richtig schnell und einfach, also auch da gibt es wenig anzumerken. Optisch gefällt mir das der Antrieb deutlich kleiner ist als alles andere auf dem Markt. Keine Schrauben auf der Oberseite und keine Kabelklemmen wo nach 3 Jahren die Schrauben fest gerostet sind. Die wichtigste Eigenschaft sind die fest anliegenden Weichenzungen. Nach meiner jetzigen Erfahrung bei LGB und Piko Weichen nice to have aber für die Thiel Weichen ein muss! Ob der noch teurere EVO-X mit den zusätzlichen Funktonen sein Geld wert ist weiß ich nicht. Die Herzstück Polarisierung wäre sicher eine feine Sache bei den großen Weichen die ich habe aber sei es drum, mir waren sie schlichtweg zu teuer dafür das es keine Langzeiterfahrung damit gibt und man nicht weiß ob und wie lange sie funktionieren. Bis jetzt auf jenden Fall klare Kaufempfehlung für den EVO-S.
Das liegt daran das mein Fahrstrom von der Massoth Zentrale nichts mit dem zweiten Stromkreis für Weichen und Signale zu tun hat. Für das Stellwerk wird es eine extra Digitalzentrale und somit einen komplett getrennten Stromkreis geben. Das jeder Weichenantrieb sein eigenes Kabel hat liegt daran das bis zuletzt nicht sicher war ob ich die Massoth Antriebe oder die von LGB verbaue. Bei den LGB Antrieben wären die ganzen Kabel zwingend erforderlich gewesen, so sind sie nun nice to have weil ich einen ganzen haufen Lötstellen im Außenbereich vermieden habe.
@@sebastianschulze8406 Ich habe noch nicht genau entschieden ob es ein PC gestütztes System wird oder ich eine andere Variante wähle die mir kürzlich gezeigt wurde. Egal welches System ich wähle, über die Massoth Zentrale läuft keines davon. Schließe ich also die Weichenantriebe an den Fahrstrom an kann ich die Weichen nicht mehr in mein Stellwerk einbinden was das ganze völlig sinnlos macht. Das ist der Hauptgrund für den zweiten Stromkreis. Aber es gibt noch weitere Vorteile... Wenn jemand auf der Fahrzentrale die STOP Taste drückt und somit die Gleise stromlos macht bleiben alle Weichen und Signale weiterhin mit Strom versorgt und bedienbar. Durch eine seperate Stromversorgung nehme ich auch Belastung vom Fahr-Stromkreis. So ein Antrieb braucht nicht viel, ein Signal auch nicht und eine Bahnsteiglaterne auch nicht aber wenn man alle kleinen Verbraucher über die Anlage addiert kommt ganz schön was zusammen. Um diese Belastung von der Massoth Zentrale abzunehmen ist der zweite bzw. für die Beleuchtung der dritte Stromkreis ebenfalls gut.
