Dude, it's 421 PPI. It's super sharp. I find it hilarious that people think there's a huge difference between 1080p and 1440p on a screen of this size. Even 321 PPI would be very sharp, so this is great.

I recently got the S21 and I really love it!

Not bothered by the “downgrades”. The screen is still razor sharp and it’s extremely fast. The compromises in camera and processor on the pixel were way bigger turnoffs than what Samsung did. Played with the s21 right next to the s21 ultra. The ultra is not worth the extra $400. If you’re looking for the best balance of premium features with a fair price, the s21 is the way to go.

Thanks for the review. I preordered the galaxy s21 yesterday without much thought into the plus or ultra. I'm upgrading from a galaxy s8, so I think I'll be satisfied!

I always find it very strange, Apple 🍎 last year brought out the iphone 11 , with a lcd screen, people bought millions. Samsung brings out OLED, but lowered the resolution, and people go crazy upset.... Strange

When Samsung is producing phones and software this good, it’s baffling how people are still buying iPhones. I get iMessage is good, but it’s not that good. What you get for the price on the s21 outweighs any of apples pros that’s for sure l.

I personally think it's priced appropriately because compared to the iPhone 12(same price), you're getting 128gb standard, 120hz, 3 cameras, and .1 inch bigger screen. Both phones are excellent with their own set compromises for the price.

Love how people complain about a drop in resolution and demand a lower price point but when Apple still has 1170p (i.e. not 1440p displays) AND only 60 Hz on even their Pro Max no one bats an eye

1080P just feels like a mid range phone feature. However, I run my note 20 ultra @ 1080P for the high refresh rate so to me it wouldn't change much

The plastic back IS the premium material! Compared to Gorilla Glass, it's less costly both to manufacture and to replace if damaged. It weighs less too! So in 2021, it makes no sense to build phones with glass backs.

Can I tell the difference between 1440 and 1080? Very easily. Do I miss the 1440? Never used it anyway for better battery. That 120hz is going to make the phone feel amazing.

Even though you don't get the 1440 p resolution you still get the 120 Hz refreshrate. If you look back at the s20 you had to lower the resolution anyways in order to use the 120 Hz

S21 battery gives me full day plus, I think the iPhone 12 wont make a 24 hours Loving the S21, its compact carry and pocket fit and great UI

You got hung up on the downgrade in resolution vs the S20 but seem to forget the S20 couldn't do 1440p with 120hz enabled. I think the smoother display and better battery life is absolutely worth it!

You should mention that S21 overheats very easily after using it a few minutes, so that people wouldn't get disappointed after buying it.....

No wonder Samsung made that phone is in a Thanos colorway because what it represents is just plan evil and villainous selling that phone to loyal consumers as a so called upgraded newer flagship but in actuality with all it's miserable downgrades. Ripping of customers switching from some S6 up to S20 series downgraded their phones to an S21. Just plain wicked

It's crazy how people complaint that the screen resolution is decreased to 1080p When it is totally fine and sharp and it also has 120hz ...the same people never complained about iphone 11's screen ..which was not having a 1080p screen , not even amoled , not even high refresh rate . Even now Apple offers a amoled screen but no High refresh rate but nobody complaints because people know Apple doesn't listen to its consumers and will only make changes if the company feels so ...but people start complaining when Android phone manufacturer makes changes for good.

It's not bad at all, I switched from the note 10+. And tbh, this little beast takes wayyyyy better pictures, has a more natural color when watching videos, and that 120hz refresh rate is just ...wow...very great device. Only thing I miss from the note 10 plus is the battery life

I was going to buy an s20 last year to replace my s9, but I hold back because of the price, glass back, curved display. Now, I'll have a flat display that its stronger, a plastic back that won't shatter, plus I'll be putting a huge case and its 200 off. As for the screen resolution I'm ok, since hardly nobody can tell the difference between 1080p and 2k. No SD card socks, but at least they are being modest with charging only $50 for 128gb extra (im looking at you Apple) i just wished they bumped the battery as they did to the s21 plus.

Traded in my s20 for the s21 and I am happy with the change. 1.The battery life is a little better then the s21 at 120 dynamic refresh vs the s20 at 60hz as the 120 hz wasn't enough for a day before. 2. The flat screen feels wider then the curved. 3. The graphics processing seems much better as I had trouble with occasional stuttering at bad times playing games on my s20 which so far none of that with the 21. For the 99 dollars it cost me after trade in, it was worth it especially since I got that 99 dollars back on accessories which I used on the buds pro that I wanted anyway. I can see how one would miss the micro SD slot but I don't have that much loaded and won't by the time I upgrade again

I dont understand why the Ultra has a chin but the lesser models dont. Probably has to do with the curved screen maybe? They seriously need to go flat across the board

A 1080p screen is absolutely fine especially at 120Hz VRR. I currently have an S9 and I have never used the 1440p mode because the difference in picture quality is so small yet the performance hit is so big. I would only want 1440p in the big phones that have big batteries. Criticising the S21 for that is like criticising a phone with 8GB of RAM for not having 12GB of RAM; it's a non-issue. Both are excellent; only a small minority actually benefit from the latter.

THE MOMENT I'VE BEEN WAITING

For everything mentioned that is being mentioned by other YT as well, there is a counter argument. The biggest example being that whatever you need for your S21, like a charger if you actually need that, you can get for free anyways if you pre order it through Samsung's website. And if you're going to end up buying the phone from a carrier, chances are that you either will pay nothing up front but tax anyways and your payment towards the phone will be in smaller monthly portions so I don't see who would be too upset about buying a charger in a t mobile when they are already getting a case too probably.

Literally every youtuber / viewer vexed about FHD has been using FHD / 120hz for the last 11 months .. Consumers have shown time n time again that its performance they care about. Take the Iphone SE 2 for ex.. or even the 11 and xr with their L C D screens .. < 1080p lol. Could even say the iPhone X has a better screen than a 2020 flagship at that point No microSD is a big L, but they did retroactively adjust the msrp to account for this, the charger, and some... most ppl upset won't be when they have another 200 usd in their hand. Also I think samsung is expanding their cloud services and are looking for an additional source of revenue via subscription based models. But yea... most of these things missing are arbitrary in nature, are vary based on user.. definitely not compromis. If anyone's hurt over it, take out the money and buy the pricier edition, smartphone flagship is supply n demand they do and will not care bout our pockets guys ! No pay no play 😂😂😂 Just my thoughts 🤷‍♂️

I think the note 20 ultra is a better buy. Pretty similar specs and similar design but SD card.

I use to rock a galaxy note8. Last year I got the OnePlus 8 pro and I'm so grateful. For the same price I get a better display, a better build, camera is not lacking, software is cleaner and gets more frequent updates and to top it all off I got a 35 watts charger in the box, a clear case and a screen protector pre installed. FOR THE SAME PRICE!

i think if you compare the S20 @ 4000mA battery and if you run 1440 at 60Hz and 7nm chip.. vs 4000mA at 1080 at 120Hz..and 5nm chip.. the S21 will probably have a better battery life.

iPhone 11 had even worse display (720p+), 60hz, less bright and contrasty and waaay bigger bezels and also base storage was 64gb (obviously no SD card slot), but no one bat an eye. Samsung drops resolution to 1080p, 120hz, & 128gb base storage at $800, people go crazy.. like WTF seriously, r iSheeps blind or they act like that I don’t understand

Don’t let this distract you from the fact that the one plus 7 pro is still a gem at the current price point in the user market. I recently got a mint condition one and it has been very nice even with the curved display which I’ve grown to like. The cameras are enough with some exposure issues sometimes especially in the front camera but the quality in its self isn’t bad. I mostly take pictures of food or record basketball videos. Selfies once in a blue moon.

S20 can only do a QHd without 120hz. S21 also doing 120 Hz with fullHd.... Technically downgrade.....but practically an optimised battery performance ...that's what samsung is offfering

The lack of accessories is not an issue of value, but an issue of: The customer don't matter. If you are a prestigious brand, you would aspire to deliver the most prestigious package to the consumer. What if Tesla stopped selling wheels? What if Starbucks stopped selling coffee in cups? What if Qualcomm stopped producing SOCs with GPUs? It's sad that in 2021, basic things like taking pride in delivering good service to customers has to be taught.

If the phone was running a 1440p display along with 120hz the battery would drop all the time. I don't mind giving up a slight resolution drop because the 120hz is better than it. Same thing with computer monitors I didn't care about anything above 60hz until I got a 144hz monitor and now I can never go back

This is one of the worst reviews I've seen and you have no idea what you're talking about. The screen at 1080 is more than sharp. Furthermore, it exponentially reduces cpu usage and with that it prolongs battery life. Speaking of battery life, you haven't touched on that issue which is unacceptable for a review.

Most people rather 120 smooth refresh rate over quad HD and won't care about the SD card so those were great sacrifices Samsung made dropping the price $200. And the plastic back almost feels just the same as the glass back with the Matte finish

Great video! However you complain the s21 does not have 1440P when it’s a flagship. The s21 ultra is the flagship and it does have 1440P. The s21 is trying to be the midrange low cost phone for all. For what it is trying to be and for the cost it makes sense to eliminate he 1440P especially with the smaller screen there is almost no difference.

I'm using the S21 Plus, Snapdragon version. The only thing I'm losing is expandable memory. I hardly using WHD Plus on my S10 Plus because I always using FHD Plus. S21 Plus display is gorgeous and no one not talking about that. Like I'm impressed at how it looks. I love the design aspects of these new phones
