AGM batteries should only be depleted to 50% of their capacity. Anything beyond that, especially on a repeated basis, will greatly reduce their life expectancy.
That said the 56AH system I built and installed a while back to run my fridge and miscellaneous camping accessories turns out to be only around 28AH. Had I known this when I built it, I probably would have gone bigger.
With only 28AH of capacity, it becomes absolutely imperative that I know exactly what my status is at all times so I can shut it down before I hit that 50% depletion floor.
This is one of the reasons why I was so annoyed when my Renogy battery monitor started flaking out on me.
Anyway I thought it would be fun to document my learning process as I swap to a more advanced and hopefully more dependable battery monitoring system by Victron, and contemplate the differences between battery isolators, and DCDCs
As I said this is a learning experience for me. So if you see something that I did or said incorrectly, or could have done better or more efficiently, feel free to let me know in the comments.

One of those project being a bigger battery capacity and a swap from Isolator to DCDC.
Thanks for watching!
