Switching from Traktor to Rekordbox or Serato 

Watching this video in 2024 :) I'm also switching to Rekordbox DJ for exactly the same reason. Thanks for the great video!

Right on. I've also switched to Rekordbox DJ. The big bugs are all gone, the CPU performance is finally in line with competitors, plus easy compatibility with NX2 hardware. I've gone from OG Final Scratch 1.0 to Serato to Traktor to Rekordbox DJ over the course of 17 years. I have no complaints with RBDJ, and migrating from Traktor was not difficult. While the Traktor and Serato FX sound ace, they're easy to overdo and annoy the listener. RBDJ just works, doesn't matter if you have a $250 DDJ-400 or a $1100 DDJ-1000.

My recommendation... 1. Do not switch whatever you are using 2. Do not buy controllers or mixers not supported by the desired software as default. 3. Choose your software and then gear. I am using Traktor as its well established, great FX and DVS quality, fully customizable and the price is great.

Thank you so much for this video. I'm starting my conversion, literally as of tonight and I am COMPLETELY dreading it. I plan on making videos of my transition to Rekordbox as well. I have been spinning on the most basic form of Traktor, with the S2 for years - but in order to start moving anywhere in the industry, I'm going to have to hack out the Rekordbox feel. I can already tell I'm going to hate it, because I've played around plenty on Pioneer controllers with friends' music just to dabble around, and I could not stand it. Anyway, I hope you see this comment and get back to me so we can compare our experiences, and maybe you could even help me smooth this transition with some tips. Much love brother.

Stems with an kontrol s8 are the feature why I won't switch. There isn't something comparable on serato and/or rekordbox.

i have been with traktor for 12 years and i love it but i think i will switch to rekordbox. the main reason is that traktor doesn't work well with rane 12 mk2, it has signal problems and nobody talks about it. i have tried rane 12 mk2 a lot and everyone has the same signal problem with traktor. one more thing keeps me hooked to trakor..its the beatjump with knobs. i love those knobs and they save my life many times during dj sets. the beatjump with those knobs is a brilliant idea, practical and fast. I also love face time to sync tracks, however the z2 is old and outdated. I have changed 2 over the years and it is now discontinued. I don't understand what they are waiting for to produce a new battle mixer. surely one thing i always loved about traktor is folder search, traktor browser is ahead of rekordbox and serato. in fact you can search for songs directly in the folders of the pc while with the others it can't do it and the search takes place only in the playlists. these are the things that still keep me hooked on traktor but if they fix the bug with rane 12 mk2 i will switch to rekordbox. today the future of traktor is uncertain. peace.

Laatste wat je zegt is zo on point: "If I didn't have to switch, I wouldn't have." helemaal mee eens, enige reden voor mij is precies ook daarom, dat er overal pioneers staan en je dus alleen maar je usb stickie mee hoeft met rekordbox imported muziek. Als het overal zo fijn kon werken als een usb met zuivere mp3tjes die je in een ander apparaat duwt zou de wereld zoveel makkelijker werken... Ohja, en de "beatloop scrolling option", dat is toch goud op de traktor ofniedan!

Thanks for your video. I want to comment on one of your points. It is easy to make a playlist in Rekordbox, named the same as your playlist in Traktor, then drag the tracks from the Traktor playlist across to the Rekordbox playlist. Then export of a USB stick. I do that all the time to prep for a set in a club. But for a full night, I still tend to use Traktor if I have room for my laptop.

so over a year later, how do you feel about your switch? I'm currently torn about where to go with my setup. i have a basic 2 turntable + mixer setup but the mixer is really bad and broken and needs to be replaced. i was thinking of gettting something DVS ready so that i can complement my small vinyl setup with digital tracks as well and have more flexibility/fun. i was origianlly going for a used Z2 but the NI support for traktor worries me a lot and i too thought that having everythign in rekordbox would be a good starting point for if i need to export tracks to a usb key or if i ever expand on my setup with CDJs but i never used rekordbox before so i don't know what i'll be getting myself into.

So have u master ur s9 cuz thinking very hard to buy it but I have z2 and I like so in ur honest opinion is it worth buying

I want to ask you a question and give me your personal opinion on this. What do you think about external drive for dj music Library. Some people says it's butter cause you can easily move your Library from one computer to the other. also i'm new just starting up and fixing my music library, looking for some new ideas.

Hey Man, I see you not very active on this channel but I will still try to ask you a question.. Just found your video because right now I'm dealing with exactly same thing. I have sticked with Traktor as long as I could. I love the software and also the hardware (Still have my Z2 and S2). Been using it for like 15 years.. But I came to the point where I can no longer ignore Pioneer software and equipment. All the serious DJs uses it, Its in all clubs and stages all around the world there must be something, its proven right? I purchased Pioneer XDJ-XZ to be as close to the Pioneer "club standard" enviroment as possible (with budget I can still afford..) And after few months of use I got to say its very painful transition.. There is so many things I miss from Traktor and HATE in Rekordbox already. I feel very desperate and already thinking about selling it.. Maybe this is something everyone experience right after the switch but please can you let me know how are you satisfied after those 4 years? Does this go away? Did you stick with Pioneer? Did you quit DJing?:) Thank you or anyone with the same experience for the feedback..

You can prepare thumdrives on rekordbox for free don't understand the problem that is not a valid reason for changing from any dj software platform
