Thats definitely a kinder way of looking at thinks, sometimes they do! SWOT being your first cancelled series is pretty wild, I'm surprised by just how many people have actually read it!
Honestly the biggest thing ive taken from this video is that Zan looks pretty cool and i might give its 18 chapters a try. That guy who animated 3 openings and 4 endings for something that could probably be adapted into a 12 episode season max is impressively dedicated.
@@jordanforbes149 Idk really, haven't read it yet, I just like the artsyle and it has at least one very dedicated fan, can't really say as much for Swat although I actually thought Swat was okay.
TY THIS IS THE BEST SURPRISE TO OPEN RU-vid TO AFTER THE BRUTALITY THAT WAS MY PUBLIC SPEAKING CLASS :D Your axed file series always brightens my day. I love your content :)
Swot it's a weird manga that i think about from time to time, probably because it was the first manga i followed from start to finish, and it was also the first time i noticed a total 180 in the history when they introduced super powers, years later thanks to bakuman i learned that that tone shift was probably bacauae of cancellation I'm glad someone it's talking about this manga in the current year Also i remember that after the final chapter i went on a rabbit hole trying to learn more about the mangaka just to learn that at that time at leat he hasn't had any hit yet, hope he's doing okay nowadays Thanks for unlocking a memory I finished the video oh God Well at least the man it's still around i guess
Ahaha yeahhhh he's still going although apparently the yugioh manga ended the day before I published the video. Always happy to talk about older Jump stuff!
Based on your description, the protagonist's personality sounds like "what if they took Bakugo and had him *not develop at all* from chapter 1, and made him the main character?"
Little shoutout for mentioning Earthchild. Yeah, that just did not sit right with me, with how the protagonist pretty much insisted that the whole world revolves around him and his family, a family, I might add, was brought about by him not accepting the situation to get what he wanted. He just felt like a massive spoiled brat to me. Maybe you should do an Axe File on that series!
+TrentinArt Great video. I got two suggestions for Shonen Jump Cancelled Manga. 1st would be Tokyo Shinobi Squad, a really bad manga only lasting around 20+ chapters.
Who approved of this manga? The MC's motivation is played off as a gag? Who writes like that? Why UFO? Why Aliens? Why none of this matters in the end? All in all I agree that it should not have being serialized in the first place. But I have something good to say - I find female delinquent that wants to stop being this way, to be a novel concept that would've been nice to see being picked up by other authors. And the manga about a guy destroying women's clothes could've worked if done really accurately.
Yeah its a grabbbag of missteps, definitely one of the worst Jump manga ive read. I think the last one could be a fun echii manga potentially if the context surrounding it was different and less misogynistic
For me it's currently nue's exorcist the story feels so bland and dry being shoved with whatever it is shounen or light novel harem cliche and trope it can get it's hand on, It's like bleach but reduced to light novel harem fan service stuff. I don't get it why it doesn't get axed yet.
Yeahhh Nue is rough, i'd hesitate to say it's the worst though, it's kind of its own brand of bland slop, sadly i cant make a video on it since it's not axed haha
@@TrentinArt I didn't think it was that bad. It was a good lesson about nailing your characters and concepts down beforehand. The sudden injection of more fan service at the end seemed desperate. I wish it had time to find it's feet.
I...actually like the idea for Swot, and I don't mind the Mc😅If I could survive something like Death Note, Chainsaw Man, or genuinely like Fire punch. I can give this a shot.
I feel like it could have been more interesting if instead of having any shonen power system to just focus on the fact that the main guy is studying for this big dream he has, and maybe that drive inspires others to study to pursue their dreams. Idk Im spitballin' here.
Probbably? I feel like that would require and entire re-write of the MC (Which would have made it much better)! Theres possibility for a good manga in SWOT somewhere with a lot of tweaking haha
It did yeah! A death game in Jump was a really interesting premise but it got pretty shaky as it went on unfortunately, still an interesting read and I brought it up in my jump horror video!
@@TrentinArtYeah he wasn't especially deep or interesting if I'm being honest. He's kinda like a Disgaea protagonist with far less redeeming qualities and character depth, I like delinquent manga a lot so I'm probably a bit bias lol.
@@TrentinArt On the other side of the shonen gag manga coin there is Agravity boys which i personally loved and had an interesting story with how it got an epilogue in a different manga. Would definitely be a good one to cover
@@woodyd167 Agravity boys is a shoe in at some point one of the weirdest and funniest gag series jumps had imo! I know a lot of people who love it too!
@@TrentinArtdespite lasting 50 chapters. It didn’t need to last as long as it did. It was a gag manga, it was funny and despite being Sci-Fi they were what they were doing and made the funniest space manga on the planet. Am I bummed out it never had an anime? Yes, but it didn’t need one. Most gag mangas don’t need a serious story. They are there for laugher and I am glad it existed 😅
In retrospect, RalGrad was my worst jump manga. I still ha e the bolumes and i will reread it eventually, but boy it sticks out. Do hope you cover Psyren and Gengaku Pucasso eventually.
Interesting, I've heard a few people mention Ral Grad being bad, it might end up getting voted for as an axe file soon-ish! Psyren is a little large and I think veers out of the scope of these smaller shorter videos but I'll never say never! It could be a cool incentive or milestone for this little series. And sadly Genkaku Picasso is a Jump SQ manga meaning it doesnt quite fit what I had in mind with these, though I have been meaning to read it and am an artist so theres potentially of me talking about it one day~!
I know its not jump but would you consider doing an axefiles on the series 01 by Oku Hiroya of Gantz and Inuyashiki fame. Its shockingly bad in some ways but alos highlights some of his skills that hed later develop later on Also all the battles feel like Dragon Ball Ripoffs
honestly 01 and maybe GUN DRAGON Σ by Buichi Terisawa could be fun to talk about in a video on weird non-traditionally drawn manga so i won't say never!
Idk, Hungry Mary always seemed like the worst Shonen Jump manga to me, crapy art, bad layout, a comedy manga that’s not funny, and a plot that just rips off a classic (Ranma1/2), checks all the boxes for me at least.
Hungry Marie isnt great and is pretty weird but I can at least take some enjoyment in it's absurdity. I dont think it's ryuhei tamuras best art either but its not crapy at all ... also not all gender bending/swap stories rip of Ranma XD
