NOTE:Update (8/23/24) As of May 2024, I NO LONGER cover SWTOR. Play it on occasion, but my time with the game has passed. This video remains up because I do think that SWTOR is great if you have never played it, or haven't played in about 5 years. However for existing, veteran players the game has little to offer. It's moved ownership, and that has gone poorly. I can't support the current development of SWTOR. I was never paid to make swtor videos, so I know this may seem like an abrupt change. You can find out more on my 2nd channel "NobleplaysMMOs".
WTF are you talking about lol, if they game would have stayed with bioware it would have died, they were using profits from SWTOR to fund other projects. Its the same dev team running the game and now the money is well spent, we get bigger updates with less wait time between each
I started playing about a month ago starting with sith warrior playthrough absolutely fantasic and im now doing smuggler playthrough. I love Star Wars and this is the only MMORPG game i've played and im hooked on it.
@@chaoticallypureevilyeah can confirm as someone who just started at the beginning of 2022, once you completed all the story available to you, that's where the honeymoon phase ends.
The claims of SWTORs death started seconds after launch I think;) Maybe even before. We are now many Life Days down the swoop track. The game has great storylines and voice acting. Movie style conversations are a big plus in my view, but the cost of making those probably was a major reason for limited content updates over the years. To fully enjoy a game I must have a goodly amount of character customization. SWTOR definitely makes the grade. SWTOR is a Star Wars RPG that happens to be a MMO. It is not a MMO that happens to be in the Star Wars universe. Players who really focus heavily on PvP and/or end game operations (raids) always were disappointed, because a lot of the game development effort/focus was .... not those things.
Back in ~2008-2010 my SWG and LOTRO buddies were telling me to not get my hopes up for the upcoming "Dead Game" Star Wars MMO. Some of those guys are still playing SWTOR with me today.
This is what I'm seeing. Ive been playing WoW since vanilla and the one thing I HATE about WoW is the story and the fact your character is meaningless in the plot. The one thing it does well is end game content. There are guilds for everything and they are HIGHLY active and you can always find a different guild. SWTOR has great storytelling and the main class storylines are all good, and your character is the center of the story progress. The one thing I hate is doing flashpoints with others because someone will always type "HIT SPACEBAR". I get it tho, I rapid tap spacebar for all of the ones ive done. I finally got a character to 80 this week and I kinda hate it. I feel so incredibly weak in flashpoints, im always close to death. The story seems a little weak, I'm on a pirate planet looking for Revan who's working with slavers.
SWTOR is also dumped with a graveyard company now and not really creating content of any substance. Compare to ESO and FFXIV in terms of subscribers. That should be a good chuckle.
The player character becomes a verbal and physical punching bag and side character/errand boy/girl for the actual main characters in the story in the newer content from eternal throne/fallen empire and onwards. They become absolutely pathetic. Getting casually tossed around and beaten by friend and foe alike, running for their lives like cowards, spoken down to by the main characters with no ability to respond in kind. The writing and dialogue is horrible and fanfic level cringe after the older content(new "writers" most likely). If you're going to play the game, just play the original class stories and older expansions and then uninstall. The player is a random nobody and a pathetic, underpowered, gofer side character after that point.
Same, I did joined a guild in swtor, but after a few weeks not really talking quit the guild, then quit the game, because I did not want to accidentally be recognized by any of my guild members and be judged lmao. Now a year later im thinking of transfering to another server and playing again. Stupid brain.
I solo for the same reason. And I'm not a sweat. I've came back to playing this game again after a few years. Seems people get pissy (in my experience) when you're not on discord for a group run. And they want peak optimal toons in their group. Maybe I've just run across a few bad eggs, but that's why I solo.
I played this game since its launch. However, I find it very disappointing since the end of KotET and KotFE expansions. You are talking about doing group content yet there is no incentive to do it. Dungeons are mostly pointless. Raids are done on the easiest difficulty with only 2-3 guilds doing heroics on the server. There is no point in doing harder difficulty when you can obtain the best gear from running normals. Also, the best gear doesn't make you feel strong. You may kill mobs just a few seconds faster but that's it. I may be wrong things might have changed since then (I haven't played for a year). BUT. What I hate absolutely most are these story content updates that add 20 minutes of story content that are something like this: 2-3 enemies every 10 meters, then some dialogue, you find nothing, you learn nothing, the story moves nowhere, everyone and everything is mysterious and you have to wait half a year for another clue, another patch that repeats the same thing. It's been like this since onslaught xpac. New class design is lazy as hell. They promote it ''you can play however you want now!'' which is a huge pile of bs. They could have at least adjusted the ability design for certain combos so they would make more sense. I wrote so much and I haven't even mentioned gigantic inflation, outdated GTN, and Cartel Market. I was like ''dang I should give SWTOR a chance'' after watching your video but then I started writing this essay and I remembered why I left in the first place. Sadge.
This is actually a spot on review I think for a returning player there’s very little reason to play it again. For a new player on the other hand I think this game is definitely a Star Wars fan dream
1:06 - I love this game but this feature is what really keeps it alive for me if im being honest. Its baffling to me how you can have a galaxy so large, with so many races, factions and specializations and yet there's only one game with an in-depth character creator? Disney wants SO bad to keep Star Wars locked to the movies it hurts.
"Shadow of Revan" was the start of them cramming new content into grindy flashpoints (which have no "checkpoints"), and erased your origin titles for Outlander or something similar. That chapter's end was very cliche "Sith and Jedi must put their differences aside to kill the great threat of the emperor". Then like a Marvel movie, Republic and Empire main characters pop out side by side, then attack the Emperor together.
I liked everything story-wise with SoR and Emperor's numerous deaths, but I hate flashpoint content. It usually comes down to: "String of dialogue > you must go to this flashpoint and beat the big bad final boss > final string of dialogue and end of the chapter." This is such a boring formula. They couldn't think of any better plotlines for the chapters except that you just have to go and kill someone on every mission, with the story progression really being only the secondary focus.
The biggest disappointment for me was the last expansion. Knowing that the game was probably at its highest point in social media, with videos getting millions of views, only for a worst case scenario to happen on launch. I just beg for one last big bang expansion. One at the scale of the original stories. As unrealistic as it is, it will not stop me for wishing. I really love this game. Just by playing it i get happy.
I played SWTOR the moment it became F2P, but struggled with all the limitations. I came back about 10 years later (lol) and love the changes they made towards solo players and F2P. Just coming from KOTOR 1 and 2, I'm pretty happy with the story!
Its funny, i've always said most of your videos were fairly negative towards Swtor, but im glad you've had a change of heart! Both for yourself, and the tone of your videos!!! Look forward too watching more of them now!
I think its strange when people call swtor a dead game. Steam charts says its on around 6.7k players daily average, and that doesnt account for the reasonable amount of players who use the OG launcher. For a game this old and a genre like this, thats a fine player count. Its also very stable at this player count.
Number of ppl who use og launcher isn't that huge. And what do you think those 6.7k players are doing? They just come for daily login rewards thus they get registered to system as "active players". And few will stay on fleet just to afk.
I played swtor since 2012 too, my best times were when dread fortress and dread palace came up that was probably MMORPG peak, and from main story peak i would say probably kotfe and kotet got really close to original main story. First expansion rise of the hutt cartel wasn't good because ppl know this expansion for ''swtor is now f2p'' and revan expansion? wasn't that good either, i like both operations, but overall expansion was kinda weak + gearing system was long time very big problem... But original game was perfect in terms of story at least for Knight, Warrior, Inquisitor, Imperial Agent (others were just weaker) Content tierlist overall: S+ tier: Original story S tier KOTFE and KOTET (huge thanks to writers who got balls to create something new) A tier Onslaught B tier Hutt cartel, Shadow of Revan C tier Legacy of the Sith (sorry but latest expansion was weakest, great trailer but reality is just different, milking malgus instead to do something new) PS: I will wait for another Valkorion, Tenebrae, Vitiate reincarnation :D But i will keep eye on swtor, because i want to see where Broadsword but i don't have high hopes sadly.
@@PedroLucca46 ALt+F3 and then add filter then choose sharpen+. Id suggest textures at 100% and sharpen around 40% area for good definition. I didnt realize this either and its a huge game changer!
I used to play SWTOR 12+ hours a day, loved it. Then they started making really stupid decisions that drove players away by the hordes, even though the player base repeatedly told them their choices were a BAD idea.... they are going to do WTF they want, damn the consequences. So after a couple of years I decided to try it again..... much to my dismay. Fleet areas no longer have hundreds of players running around, barely a handful. Why? Because, in their great wisdom, instead of producing actual content updates and expansions, SWTOR's latest update allows you to take your NPC lover on a date. Yup, being able to take some digital avatar on a virtual date is more important than bug fixes or real Star Wars content. I guess SWTOR has decided the last of it hard core players are stuck in Mom and Dad's basement with no life. This game has two types of players left... a few straggling-in newbies, and a few very long time elite players that have invested so much of their life in the game, they can't stop. Nope, Disney and Bioware put their woke agenda into place, and the result? The game was handed off to a graveyard maintenance specialist last year and has faded out of existence except for a few like NobelPlays, who still come around claiming its the greatest thing since sliced bread. Dont fall for it, the game is a bare shell of what it used to be and could have been.
I never said it’s the greatest thing ever 😂 you’re projecting so much. Call it a dead a game all you want, people still play it, people still sub, groups still run ops. I never claimed it was in its prime. Its prime has passed many years ago. You sound like you’re super invested in not liking the game, which is fine lol. Then why you in a video comments section about it? Move on with your life maybe?
@@NoblePlays You sound like you are super invested in liking the game. Maybe move on with your life? lol Yep, and people still play Ultima Online and Everquest, but compared to their prime, they are dead as well. Your problem is focusing only on the positives, and not giving a clear picture of the negatives and reality. So you come across as more of an advertisement than a realistic review of the game. Don't worry, I wont watch any more of your videos or piss you off, lol ;)
The problem with SWTOR is it had a flawed design from day 1. They tried to make KOTOR 3 as an MMO. The issue there is you can't do KOTOR 3 level story telling and provide constant updates to it without a large budget, especially when you design in it such a way that you need 16 voice actors just to cover the player portion of each interaction. This is ultimately why class stories were never continued and why stories will continue to get smaller the longer the game runs. They built the class stories like a single player story campaign but forgot they'd have to support the game for at least a decade. I love SWTOR even despite the fact that it killed SWG which is still my favourite game of all time, but I do wish they'd thought ahead on what it would take to maintain and how to make that process easier for themselves. Personally I think they should bite the bullet and phase out the traditional story updates entirely and just focus development on actual replayable content, more meaningful endgame, quality of life etc. Its going to happen eventually anyway because there'll be a point where they just can't justify putting the money into so much voice acting anymore. I think one of SWTORs biggest problems is from launch to now there really isn't a whole lot of new systems or new forms of gameplay. We had the odd thing like starfigher or strongholds but aside from that the general gameplay loop and the options you have open to you is the same as it always was. The reason FF14 is so successful in my opinion is because they constantly add new side systems either totally disconnected from normal progression or as an alternate method to normal progression. It's very refreshing when developers are constantly innovating even if they keep the core of the game the same and much like WoW this is absolutely something SWTOR has failed in. I'm not saying its bad to be positive but sometimes ignoring the signs is just burying your head in the sand. To put SWTORs current state in perspective lets take GW2 as an example. In terms of playerbase GW2 is significantly more played than SWTOR is. However even despite that GW2 is now opting into way smaller and ultimately more disappointing expansions. They don't even release with all of the features on day 1 anymore it can take months to fulfil the feature list. It's similar to how the scale of content has changed in swtor but the difference is there are rumors that GW3 is in development and it would explain the falloff in development resources for GW2. I think we can pretty much guarantee we're never getting SWTOR 2 so any decline the game sees has no upside. I hate to say it but at this point it's days are definitely numbered and at the very least it could enter a point where it basically gets no new content a lot sooner than people think. The closure of SWG happened very quickly and at the time the game was doing very well and had clawed back a lot of the audience it lost to WoW and bad updates. To be clear, given the transfer to a new studio the game is not in any immediate danger, but with that said I wouldn't expect it to be around for another decade and if it is I'd expect at least half of that to have minimal or no updates.
Worst “update” ever! The game is unplayable and irritating with the outdated KOTOR style scenes in THE MAIN STORY where your screen in half black, you have to read endless text and your character literally says and does nothing in response. This is unacceptable and certainly not worth the subscription price. I have unsubscribed and won’t be back unless it’s fixed. If this is the future of SWTOR then it has no future, which is a shame because until the last expansion it was awesome to play.
The biggest problem is still them abandoning class specific story lines! Mainly, because it destroys immersion, but also because it lost replayability. Please! Redcon this!!!
EA damn near "sunsetted" this game. Botched so many aspects. Instead of content, the game turned into "Dress up Barbie / Ken". Cosmetics, cosmetics, cosmetics. Repeating monthly events, et al. Shame what this game COULD HAVE been.
The game is fun. Story is the best in any MMO Game ever released. That alone is replay worthy over 100 times. As far as PVP goes who cares. It's either you love it or you don't. Been playing since 2013. I am a founder and always come running back to the game. Game is far from dead, servers are packed everyday just saying!!
@@HikingFeral You clearly not a fan and thats ok. I have over 1000 hours in this game and have over 500 hours in FFXIV and there is no way your tell me that it has a better story than SWTOR. In no way is FFXIV immersive like SWTOR. I'm sorry but I highly disagree. One of the greatest strengths of SWTOR is its storytelling. With a wide range of class-specific quests and expansive main storylines, the game keeps players engaged with its well-crafted narratives that allow you to make impactful choices throughout your play through. I'm not even gonna touch on GW2 🤣
Who you want to be BS - The player base destroy that option! 99% of the game advancement - I pay to get! 99% of all, comment in the chat are Toxic! 99% of all, group play are not new player welcome! 1 rule F.. the content creators, they don't really play the game. They more like try it of and make videos on that information!
Has there been any discussion in the community about SWTOR moving over to UE5 or a similar engine? The game needs that and it will be a contender again.
Never going to happen, just as a console port is also never going to happen for the same reason. It's been discussed for the better part of a decade and it's just not possible to change engine while keeping the game as it is. The overwhelming majority of the systems would need to be completely rewritten from scratch and that's just something that they can't afford to do because by that point it would just make more sense to make SWTOR2, which is also never going to happen. We're stuck with an engine that not even the original creators (Hero Engine) are supporting anymore and the best they can do is just keep slowly updating it themselves as time goes on.
@@ChaosZero. which is exactly why I stopped playing after their abysmal tenth anniversary release. They need to remake the game in a modern engine, port the story, planets, etc all over, and zero creativity is even needed. Everyone currently playing the game is just rehashing the exact same storylines and content over and over anyways, so at least make it appealing to future players by updating it. Otherwise, the game will slowly die no matter how dedicated the fan base is.
Impossible to play solo in pvp anyways lol. Premades are way to op . You have way less ablities and when you run out of dcds its gg. I get tunneled now on sf because i beat a few premades in dps lol. Having to rely on someone to baby sit you because your class just falls over to any damage. Its not even fun its like korean mmo pvp or a spawn simlulator.
As mediocre as the latest updates have been the game overall, especially for a new player, provides a unique experience with tons of enjoyable story content that can easily get you hooked in this era of Star Wars. Yes, the newest stuff about Malgus and the Mandalorians drag on, but I wouldn't let an update that far away stop me from experiencing all the class stories and the original planets your characters visit. Hell, there's a chance people won't even get that far storywise. There's just so much content to keep you hooked for a good while, it will take time to go through it all, especially the more recent updates. It's one of these games you just wish you could experience for the first time all over again.
G dont say that making videos about the truth of this game is the problem. The problem are the devs themselfs. Good products = good reviews, bad products = bad reviews. L video tbh. How much they paid u?
My biggest problem with SWTOR is the lack of replayable story mission. If I return I have to make a new character or watch youtube to get a recap of my personal story :\ I whould argue SWTOR is the most storydriven mmo right above FFXIV and even FFXIV got this feature.
What are you talking about? You can play any part of the story you want outside of the first 3 chapters of the vanilla story. Nobody comes back and makes a new character just to get caught up on story. I’ve never heard of that, unless I’m totally misunderstanding you
Many people are burned out of SWTOR like you might have been before you got your wife involved. You do the same stuff, over and over, and it gets old. Many complaints about the lack of new and amazing content are valid. The game really could use a few new PvP areas, it could use a couple new Operations with all three modes (SM, Vet, NIM) in working order, and it could use a story that actually makes our characters have real agency in the galaxy again like the base game did...not just as an OP companion for Mandos to deal with Mando stuff. I love Mando stuff, but I am tired of the new story content centering around it! But, I have only been playing since 2019, and there is still TONS of stuff I haven't done. I have datacrons to find, all sorts of Heroics and FPs I still haven't done, a boatload of armors and mounts I want to keep collecting, and a few light side/dark side story playthroughs I have yet to try. These are what I focus on. I am still in love with the game, and I don't let anyone convince me otherwise...I just try to understand where they are coming from. I love SWTOR Angels, Star Wars Central, Mark Biggs, and others...but their perspective is theirs, not mine. Having your wife try and play the game is a way to see the game from a new perspective, through her eyes. And, yes...other stuff has become a part of your life now. Nothin' wrong with that, my dude. Take care, Noble!
I've been playing SWTOR for about 2 years and a half now. I'm mostly for the solo content, but I have started to get more into group content, like the World Bosses and flashpoints in groups instead of soloing with the best droid companion of all time. And I never miss a chance to interact with the guild members, sharing our common love for Star Wars. Starting to build the courage for PVP content! Thank you for your input, Noble! It's nice to follow the different perspectives of the content creators surrounding SWTOR and creators, like you, inspires one to log in to the game every day! :)
Its not anymore its old. Very old graphics boring content and changes are disgusting. Years ago was much better a lot. We all waiting only for new mmo in star wars.
That won’t happen. And this “very old graphics” argument is literal trash. WOW is worse. And that game has so many more players. Get a real argument please 😂😂😂
I stopped playing for almost 4 years cause I was still young and had a potato laptop. I started playing and watched a bunch of guides and what really hit me was when you said the game is solo-able cause it reminded me of how many times I had to die 😂
Swtor has and always will be the shit. Like it's literally one of the best star wars games ever made as far as story modes go. Right up there with Kotor. Is it fun as an MMO absolutely, is it a WoW killer..... not really? The operations kind of leave a lot to be desired imo, but PvP is good, and Classes seem balanced. The only thing i wish they didnt do is add all of the old Cartel Pack items to the cartel market, but other then that it's a great game.
I played from early access to about 2019, briefly played for a bit in 2021 and haven't touched it since, but been getting the itch to play again hence why I'm here seeing if there's anything new going on
I also play this game since beta, so for 10 yrs + it was really great experience and ofc it's like one of a kind for how strongly u can feel the freedom of doing whatever u like in the game 😁
U have a video or something about How to play Expansions? Idk how and i want to play it but i dont know How xD Pd: or where i need to go or something like that haha
I played on release but stopped because the game ran like trash on the best system money could buy at the time, I have just returned what, 12 years later? and I am having a blast. I wish I could remember the login details for my founder acct but I really can't and it does not matter. The graphics remind me of the Star Wars animations I have not seen. I might have a Star Wars marathon even though I am more of a trekkie myself. Star Trek will always be way better imo but saying that, I do really like Star Wars and I can see why people prefer it.
SWTOR is one of the best mmorpgs in the world. Stupid mainstream gaming media dont play mmorpgs so they dont know. So thats very cool to see there videos like this on yt :)
Can't wait to get back to this game with the new lighting and some textures. I'm wrapping up Baldur's Gate 3 right now and since I'm trying not to jump onto Rogue Trader before some expansions to it come out, SWTOR should keep me invested for a few months at least.
I had fun playing SWTOR on and off at different points of its life. The last time I played this was 2020 and I completed basically everything I could do on a couple of characters PvE and mainstory wise. I played a ton of pvp when the game came out and was hugely successful at it. In 2020, I took a look at some streams and videos for the "new" arena and oh boy...it was so toxic, filled with intentional throwing and straight up gatekeeping that I never even attempted a single game. If PvP wasn't approachable for a returning player who was successful in the PvP they played, I could only imagine a new player playing...I'm not sure if making PvP unranked again was the play, but maybe it is. Hearing that the game still exists in pre-disney Star Wars is also a breath of fresh air if its actually true.
PvP is fine now. Ranked is gone. PvP is only unapproachable for those who. Don’t respect the game honestly. Many people (including myself) will happily teach new players if they want to learn. But if they have no interest in learning then it’s fair game
finally a video about swtor that isn't just talking about how terrible it is and how it should have died years ago or whatever. thanks for actually pointing out the best parts of the game that haven't just disappeared
I decided yesterday that a return to SWTOR was imminent and went on the prowl for newly made videos about the state of the game. As a Founder I've been in and out of the game for a long time, I have 2 accounts and now I will make a third one to get a 100% fresh start without any cartel coins and unlocks. My plan is focusing on one class instead of hunting for the legendary player title like I did last time I made a fresh start. Imperial Agent story is so much fun and Operative is my favorite stealther, period. Thank you for the vidjah, it was informative 👍🏻
I really wish either 1. SWTOR had more of an ESO combat 2. ESO has more of the SWTOR storytelling/ morality system 3. SWTOR had stealing like in ESO 4. ESO has lightsabers Both games have amazing communities, housing systems, great outfit/transmogs. They are both almost perfect
"the death of SWTOR" is just uber perpetuated, the game isn't dead, and we are waiting for a grand SW mmo with the freedom of galaxies, combined with the stories (better ones) of SWTOR, and boom best star wars mmo ever. OMG yes when ranked got removed, I was upset, I had been practicing to be better.
My fave comp will always be Scourge - I remember back in vanilla when he was your melee tank and would fold faster than a table from Ikea. And I do love me some DS psycho Jaesa...but...then, there's Lana...the way she looks at you on Manaan reminds me of the look Liara gives you on Mars in ME3 ...gets me every damn time...
Well I don’t think it should be compared but it DEFINITELY AND I MEAN DEFINITELY NEED THIS TO BE ON CONSOLE ❤ I WANNA BE APART OF THIS COMMUNITY BUT MY COMPUTER DOESNT DO WELL WITH THIS GAME 😂
If they remove maximum credits cap or increase it few millions for preferred players they can have more people online and buy microtransactions or even sub again.
ok, having finished the video now, yeah, this game has a wild PR problem, lol. i pretty much exclusively see content dogging it in my odd travels through youtube, and it's surreal because when i log back into the game i ADORE it? i do agree with the idea of taking the game too seriously. i was like that with final fantasy 14 and now i can't go near it anymore lol, i'll be over here with my game-influencing choices. 😎
6:21 THANK YOU I genuinely think it’s the people who have played the game since it came out or for nearly a decade that are the most frustrated with it. Which isn’t good, I mean a game shouldn’t alienate its veteran players and I’m sure end game content gets repetitive. However, I’ve been playing this game off an on for 3 and half years, and I find the “game has gone downhill” content frustrating and demotivating, and not super helpful to people like me, who still feel like a newbie despite playing so much. Because this game is dense, there is so much to do and I’ve barely scratched the surface. Yes, it’s important to call out bad leadership decisions, and I’m sure people have very valid reasons to complain, but I also think overall negative content breeds more negativity. If people are super negative about the game, and people start to generally see and believe no one wants to play it anymore, I don’t see how that will drive the people in charge to make better decisions. Maybe it will make them get their act together, but it’s also just as likely to make them do something desperate and dumb
When this was first out a mate recommended it to me but didn't have enough spare cash to buy it, then it went F2P and I got it and loved it enough to sub instead of warcraft some months, yet over time I spotted it becoming as homogenised and with no challenge as live warcraft....I literally haven't played in at least 3 years cos of that. Esp when I found out about them doing the same as wow with talents too all I can think of is I guess i'll have to settle for the memory of Sith evil fun. Every so often like today I google classic servers for it but nope ;/
The 2 things that's been holding me off are the UX and fight system. Could we just get the story, role play and exploration of TOR, but with a gameplay as tight and fluid as Jedi Survivor?
I return every couple years for a couple months to check out new stuff and replay stories. Game fails as an mmo. It's got good RP'ers and almost generic server wide system for what everyone uses, but otherwise it's failed for many reasons other mmo's have with it's own unique twists. Love the game, but I broke off this game as a 'real mmo' after it's first 6mo and the failure of the company. EA kills all.
To someone who is arriving now in swtor, the game will feel amazing. To someone like me, already at endgame with all the classes, it's quite painful to wait for 15 minute of new story content every year.
Its probably good if you hadnt played pre expac and skill shrink. But they butchered the soul out of this game. Pvp is and has been actually dead for years. And the whole ego stroking of the story is pretty off putting.
I'm relatively new to this game, but I've always loved the kotor universe. KOTOR is still my favorite game ever made. This game is in my top five. I played on an absolute potato PC for probably around 200 hours and then I stopped. I just recently bought a PC with a 2080 super just to play this game. I see 1000's of hours in this game for me
@user-dl6ku7sf3c The gameplay is still great to me. I replay it every few years. It's a crpg, not an action rpg. Games inspired by D&D aren't for everyone, though. It's like baldur's gate 3.
The game is fun I really enjoyed it and I just got back from a 10-year break but say the wrong thing on chat and you'll see an immediate 7 day suspension with no warning.
bs some of the stuff isn't soloable and you have to look up guides to get a full understanding... some of it... is not even solo like the starfortress... that's the only part i'm stuck on but no one wants to group up since it's boring as f...... is it good for new players yes.... only class story.... but they never seen what endgame is and never solo it with so many problems like solo players have who try to look for groups and waiting times. swtor may die when starwars outlaws comes out... as an old player of swtor... they cut out all dialog for treek and the opening for the character. they are cutting content.
Sorry but the game is awful. They removed all ranked pvp and the talent tree now makes you choose from abilities we used to have all of. They've dumbed it down and have catered to the casuals. There is nothing rewarding at the end game anymore, no challenge.
I appreciate you making this video. I was a fan of this game when it first launched I’ve seen it up and downs and I’ve been back-and-forth playing it ever since at least once a year I tackle this game for a few months to see what is changed. The part, you mention about solo players, missing out on some great experiences is true, but I feel like it is a double edged sword. On one hand yes, those experiences in groups are amazing and something you will remember probably for the rest of your life, but on the other hand , as you get older and have less time to play, it’s harder to have groups like that because everybody is on their own schedule. The only way around that is to play in a huge guild with tons of players who are online at any given time. from what I’ve experienced over 24 years of playing these type of games is that the people recruiting tend to recruit during certain time periods, which is why you get huge influx of players during those periods, and then the guild becomes very quiet during other times. That kind of ties in with your whole , finding the right guild part might take some time.
Been playing it off and on since release, it's a fun mmo. I am not into the stories though, so I skip through all the dialogues. I kinda wish there was a way to turn them off, as an option.
If only the devs updated the combat system to atleast feel like wows combat . Its always felt so clunky and slow and theres no reason that it should not be as smooth as wows tab targeting combat.
so many gems in this video, but i really appreciate a person who can look back on old perspectives and admit their views have broadened since then. uwu
It's so hard to find honest reviews on MMORPGs. 98% of people are negative doomsday sayers. I play WoW a lot of my time and dropped on an off both SWTOR and Guild Wars2. Guild Wars 2 is an amazing and beautiful MMORPG and it's clear it has more activity than SWTOR.... But Guild Wars is just another fantasy, and I already got that in WoW, and it's not Star Wars.
After i reached end of base game in FF14 and couldnt take it anymore due to boring and tedious beyond compare this game is a masterpiece, combat is faster and story is all full voiced and you can chose your answer in dialogue options. I will never go back to FF14 EVER again.
I love both games but that is a huge mistake. Yes, ARR and the 100 or so quests before heavenward are... lacking, to say the least but every expansion for FF14 have been absolute bangers.
You never explained what caused you to change your opinion from your last videos. It seems you just rehash the same "Pros" that every channel that makes SWTOR videos. All of the pros you listed were there when you made your few videos about the game. Just slightly sus.
Last I checked there’s not many channels that still over this game regularly that are neutral or positive. It’s almost all old players who want the game back the way it was. Which I would enjoy if they ever did that. My change in opinion has come from my different approach to the game. This game doesn’t consume my life anymore. I’m not looking to get on for 6 hours a day and grind. I’m not looking to do the things I used to. I’m replaying a lot of the game with my wife, which has been really fun. I just don’t see the point in bitching about the game anymore. If people don’t want to play it; that’s fine. But to say it’s a bad/dead game is just inaccurate. There are plenty of cons to this game. Like the lack of bigger/better updates. But this isn’t 2013 anymore. It’s 2024. And to expect the game type of thing from a shell of a team is just a waste of time. If they ever grow the team and focus more on group content and stuff my opinion will change. But I’m just not in it for the same reasons I used to be. I grew up lol
That's a super strange arrogant tone I'm picking up from you. The sporadic oddly forced condescending laughs are just grossing me out. Idk maybe you're genuine who knows. Can't say this was a pleasant watch.
