Reaching in to the dark side of the Force can grant the user incredible power, but its malevolent energy takes a toll on the user’s mind and body. Flesh and bone lack the endurance needed to channel the immense power of the dark side for long periods of time, and over time, any creature that leans too far in to the dark side will become physically corrupted by its power. In this video, we’ll be going over how the dark side of the Force will change the appearance of your character in Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Try enabling DS corruption and looking at the other skin colours in the Character Creation Terminal for your pureblood. I think you just picked one particular one that doesn't get paler (pink). Like how some of the black skins for humans don't get pale while others turn almost completely white.

You are kind of wrong on alignment not affecting story. For example as a BH you can't freeze Jicoln Cadera if you are below neutral alignment. Any evil one and there will only be options of how do you want to shoot him dead. Minor thing overall, but it is there.

I've always thought in an alternate universe, there would be a light side "corruption": the skins becomes more and more healthy, and the eyes are more beautiful. By tier 5 the character would basically be beaming😂

@@rjramun Not sure about the facial scarring but for eye color, you can get the yellow eyes but you need to pay for them on the cartel market(or gtn) and they only work for humans IIRC. I know for a fact they don't work for Twi'lek since I've tried to use them on that race and they just aren't in the options.

Sith Purebloods also have yellow eyes by default and Dark Zabrak has yellow eyes with red rims(which is the canon dark side eye change for 90% of darksiders in everything but this game.)

I mean, it makes sense for the Sith to remain their own color. They probably just got a natural resistance to the paling effect, seeing as how sipped into the dark side they naturally are.

It would be cool if for the Zabrak, when they get corrupted their horns could grown and become more prominant. Kind of like Darth Maul during the clone wars after her was brought back to life.

I wish you could pick how corrupted your character looks. I personally like tier 1 so I always use the yellow eyes when I customize a dark side character.

I feel like the option to turn the dark side off should be limited. Considering the lore, it could become some sort of an ability we could reach at DS tier 5 called "Mask". The same way Sidious used it to hide his appearance in the prequels and Clone Wars. And even Darth Zash used this to hide her true self from us Inquisitors. Salute to my fellow Darth Nox siblings. MURDER AND MAYHEM AWAIT

They probably don't want to restrict roleplayers or people who just want to make a cool looking character. While I love the lore and spend a lot of time reading and exploring it, it's not everyone's cup of tea. Also, guard the sith history well my fellow Darth Nox

Since Pureblood Sith are creatures of the Dark Side, it would make sense for them to look like their vitality has improved instead of declined with dark side corruption. I really would prefer having a darker tone of red for my Pureblood.

This is exactly what i've been looking for so that i could see what the corruption looked like on a twi'lek character. thanks so much, such a great video. When i asked about doing a vid like this a week or so ago i thought it'd be too much work and wasn't going to happen. cheers for doing it. you (JUST AS MANY OTHERS) may not know but theres specific skin tones for each race that is oddly coded TO NOT SHOW darkside corrupted skin. like i make all my human males black men and they keep the dark skin at a certain skin tone slider option (i forgot which) but for sith pureblood the first skin option is the one that wont get pale

Just recently began my very first Empire/Dark Side Sith Warrior character and want to reach Dark Side alignment V to unlock the unique force power reward you get when doing that for all you legacy characters, already have “Force Unity” unlocked for reaching Light Side V. @@TheRetifox Things are easy or hard defending on the available people to work on it, and the money being put into projects. I doubt either factor is accounted for at Bioware rn (for swtor that is).

@@TheRetifox What excuse, if it was so easy why hasn't it been done, this engine is old and limited. People still want toggle hoods, but engine limitations prevent easy roll outs. Just adding lines of code to make something you want, doesn't work like that.

I like the idea of dark side corruption, however, I'd like it if there was an option to toggle which stage you would like to be seen at, such as, hitting level 5 corruption, but being able to toggle any level you want instead of being forced to use level 5 or nothing.

Love Swtor. :) One thing I miss in the game is the posibility to fall into the dark side for a Jedi republic charácter. I mean to fully become a sith, with dark side powers, change of faction, etc. Also, I think that one thing that could be cool is to add a cosmetic option to look like the dark side corruption of Darth Sion! With all of the body decomposing and such... :)

Great job with this video. This had to be a ton of work, and time creating all those different characters. Appreciated, though, because I was always curious about this with different races. I kind of hate the toggle they put in the game. I think it makes it too trivial turning to the dark side. And... nice voice at the end. :D

Sith Purebloods react differently to dark side corruption depending on their skin colour. I'm not sure why this is, but yeah. This is an observation I made many years ago.

My main character is a Togruta (SI), I gave her a golden skin and I LOVE how DS corruption looks on her. Her face pattern is still visible, but it looks less bright and I think it's really cool. However, I kinda liked it better on DS Tier 3, because is was a perfect shade of golden and a perfect brightness of her face markings. But oh well, can't stop being evil I guess 😂

Looking at the Fem Sith Pureblood DS Corruption, my own Fem Pureblood got the pale skin, and my Male Pureblood's skin barely paled at all, granted my male one isn't at full dark yet so I'll have to check (Gonna look at your Fast DS points vid for that ;D ) Great video overall!

To awnser a bit on the Sith Purebloods for their corruption. one of the skin tones for it does make sure that you stay that skintone and gain the veins along with the same red eyes the Ratataki get. however the other skin tones on the Sith PB's are likely to turn them diffirent shades of pink or bright orange.

Rattataki having their face customization mostly shifts of dark side corruption and scarring from battles, makes the darkside corruption redundant a bit... aside from changing the eye-colour my character allready looks like a full darksider, even though I am playing as a good sith...

I remember play my zabrak sith inquisitor and having him being as red as Darth maul. (I modeled him after maul) then when I finished the story I decided to look through some character customization and I clicked the little show dark side corruption box. It was a night and day difference on how red he used to be, oh when he was innocent

Zabraks are the only playable race with them but multiple dark side NPCs have them as well which really bugs me since I want them on my dark side characters. I wish they would add them as an option for everyone at least. I'd even take it as a cartel market item at this point.

So I got a darkside on level 2 constantly but recently just opted for the orange eyes and hiding level 3 because customization of darkside might never come, that yellow eyes pack is good tho its like 3 levels of darkside and crrtain complexions look great

It should be noted that when you start as a Republic character you will have the "Light" part of the "Light vs Dark" selection, so be sure to click the "Dark" button if you want to be Dark Side. Imperial characters are the reverse.

For my nautolan chars ds corruption does not work on custom outfits. It just turn itself off right after im closing window where you can check or uncheck that. It only works on outfit/armor that my character currently wears. Im still unable to find an fix for that.... 🤔

I wonder if the fact that your Pureblood doesn't change her skin much is result of some lore rework. Sith Purebloods are naturally attuned to the dark side of the force and thus they should be much more resistant to it. I was always wondering why they even do have Dark Side Corruption option. They basic dustomisation allows them to have bright red and bright yellow eyes and orange one that is in between. If any at all their dark side corruption should make their eyes go pitch black as we've seen it be the case with Tenebrae's original body.

I belive the very pale pure blood full darkside was a bug. since they are a species that are native of dark side focus point energy(might be the same type of bug the nautolan had) You can usualy tell what the dark side effect are acuratly by looking at certain npc, I think its supposed to get the pureblood a shade paler...but to go as far as white was too much for that specific race.

Fun fact: the Iris change in the eyes are called “sith Eyes”. It’s usually the first indication an individual has turned to the dark side.

If you used skin type one, I think it is for your pure blood, that skin type doesn’t really change colour, you still get the veins and the eyes though.

I know it's been almost 2 years, but just in case you and anyone still don't know, the Sith Purebloods do turn pale, however if you use the Skin Tone 1, then they will retain their red skin. It's only that skin tone that keeps its pigment. (I tested this myself, and you can test it yourself using the character appearance modifier station or whatever that thing's called)
