It's interesting to see how far this company has come over the years. That 5-axis machine is pretty exciting to see! Hope all is well there.

G'day Tom. Lovely to hear from you my friend. Yes we are all going well over here thanks for asking. My middle daughter Emily just had her first baby this week. So that's grandchild number 5. I can't wait to see this new Syil U5 in the flesh. It's going to be a game changer mate. Cheers, Aaron.

G'day Mike. Yes they are very impressive mate. Mr. Xu Shuo said he won't be doing anymore R&D with the X-series range now. They will remain as is. He is going full guns blazing on the 5 axis stuff. SyilCNC have definitely disrupted the market with the products. I see the new U5 will be a game changer for them. Cheers, Aaron.

The 5 axis looks great but almost too good! Very nice features. I would love to see them take a machine of the footprint and spindle/tool changer of the current X5 but reconfigure the typical 2-axis bed to be a dedicated 5-axis (or I guess 4 lol) setup with integrated trunnion. Keep it basic, for making standard parts with fewer setups. Doesn't need to be able to seamlessly surface an aluminum baseball or anything.

Hi Scott. Mr. Xu Shuo was telling me that they should be able to mill turn with their new 5 axis machine. I'm not sure if the basic U5 will do it, but he was saying that the table should be capable of 2000rpm. The one piece epoxy granite frame is also unique. I think it will be a game changer and really compete with the UMC500. Your idea of the X5 would be a good one. Whilst speaking with Mr. Xu Shuo, he confirmed that they won't be doing any more R&D with the X series range (5, 7, 9 & 11). Moving forward they are concentrating on the 5 axis market and also their lathes. His lathe is a cast frame, but they want to move away from all casting and go with epoxy granite. Cheers mate, Aaron.
@scottwatrous
@scottwatrous Год назад
@@DCT_Aaron_Engineering mill turn ability would be very nice. It makes a machine like that in some ways able to pull double duty ve needing a lathe even tho the real power of lathes is the automation (esp with lobe tooling and stuff) But yes a viable compact dedicated "workhorse" 5-axis that could cost less than getting, say, the X7 plus a 4th axis rotary, that would be a game changer for small shops I think. Again I'm thinking being able to do parts that are maybe 75x75 or so and maybe 150 long or so would be awesome. After accounting for a typical vise of course. Lots of useful parts that would fit that envelope.

G'day Marco. Yes it was lovely to see Mr. Xu Shuo again. The last time I spent time with him was when he visited Australia back in August 2018. He was excited to see me again. I didn't plan on making a video, but I had my little Sony with me so I just ran with it. Audio sucked due to the noise there. That's why I added subtitles. Cheers, Aaron.

G'day Carlos. Mr. Xu Shuo said that his lathes are being at his factory. However, they are currently a cast base. He wants to move away from cast and go with epoxy granite moving forward. He may have more about the their lathes on their Chinese website. I placed the link in the description. Cheers, Aaron.

Hi DCT thanks for posting the video. I missed out on visiting the manufacturing convention as I was away but I would have like to have seen the Syil stand as I am interesting in purchasing one of their machines. The U5 looks amazing but beyond my capabilities and budget at the moment. It am considering either a performance X5 or X7. Is there a Melbourne based community that I can join to gain experience with CNC in general and Syil in particular?

Hi Dion and thanks for watching. Yes it was good to get down to the show and meet Mr. XuShuo again. The company is making some real progress with their machine line up and especially the new Syil 5 axis machine. At the moment I'm not sure if there are any classes where you can go and learn CNC. Mr XuShuo was thinking about opening a warehouse here in Australia and this could be an ideal opportunity to train and sell machines from. If you have any questions about Syil feel free to reach out to him directly. He is very approachable. Cheers, Aaron

@@DCT_Aaron_Engineering Hi Aaron thanks for the reply. I have been in contact with Mr XuShou. He showed me the Syil factory with some very nice machines. I am very interested in the U5 but also considering a more sensible X5 or X7 initially. A display shop in Australia (even better Melbourne) would be amazing. In the meantime do you know anyone in Melbourne who'd be willing to share their opinion of the X5 or X7 machine or better yet let me see it in person? Cheers Dion

Different syil machines have different controller options. They haven't yet standardized on controllers.
@DCT_Aaron_Engineering

Moving forward they only want one controller and that’s the Syntec one. However the choice is driven by the customer. Some still want Siemens or LNC.

G’day Marcus. Glad to hear your Skyfire is still going. Yes the Syil X7 runs rings around the SF. Especially their new epoxy granite machine. I’d put them on par with a small Haas mini mill, but with lower horsepower specs. Their only downside is no local support. Unlike Haas, there a dealer in every capital city and most counties. Cheers 🍻, Aaron

Hey Aaron. The 5 Axis MIll looks like a Nice machine. Price might be a sticking point for some buyers ?? But, of course it would not be cheap being a 5 Axis Mill. I'm sure you must be inline for a Demo machine for prospective customers 🤔😉 Might be time to swap the 3 Axis for something a bit more modern. It would be a great machine to have for product development. Maybe I should up my game and think about buying one ??? I would need to do some hard thinking before my wallet came out though 😁 Hopefully we will see one in your shop SOON 🙂👍

G'day Peter. Thanks for the chat on the telephone yesterday. I had no intention of making a video, but after talking with him for a while I pulled it out and started filming. Sorry the Audio was so sh*t, but I think the subtitles helped. Yes his new 5 axis will be a game changer and it will upset the market. To be honest, I envisage it knocking a huge dent in the Haas UMC500 sales. Mr. Xu Shuo is talking about setting up a factory here in Australia. This would speed up delivery of machines and provide a place where customers can get up close with the machine. I think the Syil U5 will be 60% cheaper than the Haas. Should I tell him to put one aside for you LOL. I think you'll need a CAM package though (wink wink). Maybe I'll get you on "Con-Fusion 360" after all ROFL. cheers, Aaron.

@@DCT_Aaron_Engineering Hey Aaron. Always great to catch up either by phone or face to face. I like the idea of A 5 Axis anything,. But, we all know more is always more. I personally couldn't really justify a 5 Axis Mill a 5 Axis Lathe is a possibility. The financial cost and space for a stand-alone 5 Axis might a difficult decision ??? Some people will have the perfect part for this type of machine. Myself, I prefer to have a 3 to 4 Axis Mill, where I can run multiple parts at the same time, rather than 1 single part. IF, I needed ?? access to the other 1 to 4 sides of the part I would prefer to fixture 3 parts at a time, rather than rotating 1 single part. Of course I'm just throwing around scenarios. For me, I would get more excited about building a 5 Axis Mill than running the same machine. In reality regardless of the parts I make it Always comes down to what I can except a customer to pay for this part ????? But, the 5 Axis Syil is something to get excited about, just not sure what I would need it for ??

Is there a benefit to this machine over a Haas? The cost ?
@scottwatrous
@scottwatrous Год назад
Coming from a business owner that got and runs a Hass for our in house machine work, some of the main benefits I see with the Syil machines are better footprint for a given envelope, granite base, open control ecosystem allowing for adjustments and repair by the end user (Haas locks everything down by default), more options for single phase/garage type setups, and of course lower price for a given performance/work area by a decent amount. They have a wired probing system which should be just as effective as the WIPS from Haas, without the costs of wireless. Downside I see is that they're not ubiquitous like Haas is so there aren't factory techs who are only an hour away if you do want that factory support. Also Syil machines don't cover the larger envelope range that Haas does so if you are looking at bigger stuff in a garage Haas has the TM2/3 which just opens up a lot of volume. Also Haas has a simple and easy to learn control (not that the Syil ones aren't common) with a lot of powerful options that are pretty proven and with good learning resources available. It's quick to pick up even for a total noob. From what I have seen the Syil integration of it's controllers still has some features being worked on as they grow so there may be some ways which that impacts workflow. (Not that the Haas machines don't have bugs) Overall if we were getting a first machine right now I'd be heavily looking at a Syil for a startup or hobby type shop that needs a serious machine to make nice parts on a budget, and isn't fussed about it being from China, which is another factor all its own.
@DCT_Aaron_Engineering
@DCT_Aaron_Engineering Год назад
Hello. To answer you question "yes" most definitely. However, you must compare apples with apples. In Australia, a Haas will cost you 2-3 times more than a Syil. For example, a Haas X7 when compared to a Minimill is around 3 times cheaper. But Haas has a BT40 spindle versus the BT30 of the Syil. I think the new 5 axis machine will blow most other competitors out of the water in price, size, and versatility. Keep an eye out for this machine, it's going to be an absolute game changer. Cheers, Aaron.

Hey buddy. Not wrong, it will be a real market disrupter that is for sure. Can’t wait to see it in action. Yes, most high RPM spindles suffer from lack of torque. I’m unsure of this direct drive brand though. Mr Xu was saying the turn table will be capable of 2000 rpm. 🤔 mill turn possibly 🤞
