Sylvia Greenberg - 'In Trutina' and 'Dulcissime' from 'Carmina Burana'

I’ve never heard of this lady, but of all the fabulous artists who I’ve heard perform this piece, she is absolutely the best! Heavenly!

I wept. I hate it when singers rush the downward running scale in Dulcissime, they utterly ruin the whole point of this short aria which was fabulously done my Ms. Greenberg: the point is to prolong it and drip it like honey onto the lips of your lover. She sings "I submit to you completely". The only way to sing it is the way she did. Thank you for the tears of joy.

I really like Sylvia Greenbergs' way of singing these pieces. I've heard Kathleen Battle do it...and as much as I love her voice, she doesn't do this piece quite right.

Sylvia Greenberg gets it100% right. I don't think Mehta would allow anyone else but some one f the caliber of her to take the part. Originally written for a Mezzo-Soprano, Greenberg is such talented soprano that she is able to hit the higher notes of the Dulcissime requires. Unfortunately the sound recording is not great, but even with that in mind you can hear Greenberg's excellent interpretation.

Sylvia Greenberg has a very beautiful voice, but she also took a breath at the bottom of the "Dulcissime" run. Compare with Lucia Popp and Natalie Dessay.
