Sheer width. The slimmer or less wide a ship or boat is, the deeper the draft would need to be. Lots of clever calculations going on still.

racrx7 it’s cuz the draft is very heavy. The draft contains all the engines, fuel and ballast tanks and it’s like, two or three decks high

I know this big scow would be a killer in really rough seas this boat has nothing below the water line. Her bottom is completely flat except for the last quarter wear the running gear is located.

She is very wide, and she has all of the engines, fuel tanks, cargo compartments, and ballast tanks on the bottom decks under sea line
