Sync Licensing and how to handle Rejection 

It means allot that you're willing to talk about rejection, even at your level of success. Thanks so much for sharing this.

I've dealt with this scenario many times. I've felt defeated and rejected more times than I'd like to admit. One publisher even put me on their roster of composers (after rejecting my submission) and started contacting me with other requests for submission for specific things after that initial rejection. I'd been told by another composer friend that this publisher was very picky ... finally after my 3rd attempt at submitting tracks to a different opportunity ... that same publisher signed two of my tracks to their exclusive library. I felt a tremendous relief. I also learned from that experience what my strengths were ... I learned that my chances were better if I was submitting tracks where I'd played my own instruments with my hands (guitars, mandolin, uke, ...) than if I was trying to compete with other composers doing orchestral or trailer-style tracks.

I always reply graciously and thanks for their time to libraries who reply that the tracks are not for them or if they give feedback which may imply the quality is not high enough. There is always something to learn and improve.

This was good, REALLY good!

2 years of trying to write for libraries after 30 years of writing songs. Rejected from all but pond 5 and had 1 song out of over a hundred shortlisted on songtradr. But I've learned that a good production makes average music sound so much better. I've also finally started into the world of electronic music. There are so many ways to make money. Take out a small loan and go powerwash peoples driveways is one of a million examples. To do the music thing I know it takes a lo g time to vyild up a few hundred quality tracks which need to be proply meta tagged and produced well. It's only something to do if you love what you do. There's a girl out there on RU-vid who just comments on other people's videos and she has 30 million people subscribed! So do the music only if its your passion and no amount of rejections stops you from turning on your DAW and going again.

I've dealt with majors where my contact has listened but he has said something like 'sounds good, I will bring it up in our submissions listening meeting which is happening 6 weeks from now'. I don't consider it a rejection unless I've emailed them 3 times or had a definite no.
