Playing that melody with unrestrained fury, I have to say that’s one hell of an angry jester that show wrath through music and yeah the banjo sounding like an electric guitar too I guess selling you soul it’s worth it (not that I would do anything like that)
Jester learned this song from the man in the graveyard that was just casually playing it. I think it's really fun to image an old man just randomly playing such a banger in the graveyard in the dead of night and no audience
@@HouseVesper_StarsectorEdits | Their rivalry transcends even death. The squiffy ghast in the cove at the champion level is similar to the graveyard violinist
He doesn't forget, he stops himself from playing it because he knows how dangerous it is after the banquet. He doesn't forget it because it's actually the Solo attack in DD2@@keithfilibeck2390
@@keithfilibeck2390 he can still play a piece of this song, Thats How he peforms his ""Finale"" move.... However, its Impossible for jester to play the Full Song again.....
Funnily enough, I looked up the sound effects for Squiffy Ghast as I was editing this since the Violinist looks way too similar to him. Didn't notice anything special though
Fun fact, Squiffy Ghast's Maddening Shanty will always target Jester if one is present on your team. So the two end up getting into a music duel of sorts, with Jester countering Ghast's attacks with Inspiring Tune and Battle Ballad. Music of The Night is probably a throwback to that mechanic from DD1.
@@NotWendy3 That's indeed a neat fact! I did NOT know this. Probably because I always focus down Squiffy no matter what so he rarely gets opportunities to act lol
I think that the old man is actually a demon of some kind. He teaches you a melody no one is able to surpass, but in the end you go mad and sacrifice your ability to play. However, is squiffy ghast connected to the violinist and how?
I'm pretty sure at the very least Jester and Squiffy Ghast are connected. Ghast has unique behaviour out of every enemy in the game where he'll prioritize targeting Jester if he's in your group (and you also get an achievement for killing Ghast with Jester). You could argue what it's just them seeing each other as competition, but it has to be deeper than that.
Perhaps the Squiffy Ghast is simply what happens to those who've embraced the Demoniac Melody. Performing the song eternally, driving others to madness while indulging themselves. The Ghast possibly recognizes the Jester as having played the melody, somehow, and is compelled to challenge him. Thinking on it, the Squiffy Ghast is pretty unique among the champion enemies, since it doesn't have much to do with it's regions nasties. It's just an undead pirate, maybe related to the Sunken Crew? Just wandering the Cove, playing it's tunes. Makes you think.
@@HouseVesper_StarsectorEdits I imagine Ghast is what remains after you perish with this curse. Forever to be playing, an instrument to curse - an unwilling slave. It does seem to follow the whole "sold my soul for music" kinda vibe.
Jester without the costume looks like Jack Sparrow without his coat which both character have something in common. An undoubtedly good but harsh joke (or a vicious mockery to say at least), helluva exquisite taste in music, dances around their opponents with grace & tricks and also helping allies one way or another.
Yesss, I was hoping something like this would’ve been done eventually! MotN’s samples unironically slap and I’ve been wanting a full song using them since DD2’s release - many thanks, and well done!
“As the player played his tune, his simple grandiose became sharpened and angry, the forbidden notes becoming quicker to cut until his song was no longer its original, but rather a murderous and merciless parody. The magical properties of the song becoming the manifestation of his rage as his music began to turn the tavern into a sanguine hall of horror.”
Spoilers: Imagine as the credits roll after beating the Mind of Darkness, the Jester appears out of a shadows upon a stage beside the credits playing the complete version of this song
Firstly, YES Secondly, probably after you beat the whole game would be preferred. A performance after beating only the first Chapter would feel premature. Overconfident, if you will.
I never knew the jester's story, if it was in the comics i never read them, so finding out that he was like crazy gifted and went crazy after getting bullied, murdered people and then mutilated his hands...woof.
If you brought the Jester to the cove in DD1, you'd notice that the squiffy ghasts (undead violin players) would focus him and only him. What's more, the ghasts would sit atop a barrel while playing their music, just like how the man in Jester's shrine does. It makes you wonder if perhaps jester draws people with musical talent to put his skills to the test
@@HouseVesper_StarsectorEdits im once again asking for extended version, i have been listeing to this banger for waaaay to much time to not require a extended version now
HEYYY MAN! Nice to see you! Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be making a 1hr version of this any time soon. Got plenty of other ideas on my plate already
imagine a minute of the Synchronization in Music of the Night, just, perfectly spread out, and finishes by a mix of A Dark Song...it would be amazing. p.s. the last one could be the second version of the synchronization for A Dark Song
Nah he doesn't have it. I just edited it in (including the text) so that the song flows better. I didn't want to ruin the song by adding his "Missteps" move
Thanks for letting me know! I'm always eager to learn since I enjoy music a lot but this is the first time I've really messed with it (albeit at a basic level)
Thank you! Although, heads up, since some parts of the song were mislabeled for the sake of the editing process (Unfortunately, I've forgetten which ones exactly at this point lmao)
The rock music really sells it. To the people of the past, rock and roll was literally incomprehensible; it wasn't invented, so hearing it would have about the same effect as a symphony of eldritch wails. To us? It's our bread and butter. It's normal. It's what we listen to for breakfast. Time will tell if humanity breaks or bends to the endless madness.
So without many spoilers (I'm waiting for the Steam release), is that the Squiffy Ghast? Did they know each other in life and that's why he only targets Sarmenti in the Cove?
Honestly, I'm still conflicted about which is better. I guess ultimately it depends on the person. I think the appeal for the first one is better pacing while the second's appeal is as you said: more powerful and much more connected. In any case, I'm glad I decided to post both versions instead
@@HouseVesper_StarsectorEdits First one would've had a different time signature if it'd been written down on a note sheet because of those electric guitar "cooldown" pauses. Different time = different song, that's why you can't compare them. Try to trim that "cooldown" sound from the end of each riff in the first variant, sync them the same way you did in the second variant, and then it'll be possible to tell which is better =)
So the old man in the graveyard likely became the Ghast in the Cove. While after the events, the Jester cut off his own finger and marred his right hand so he could never play that song again. Which explains the Crimson Courtyard trinket set. Though it was called the Tyrant's fingerbone... Hm. Also explains why the Jester seems to be missing a finger of his right hand when he interacts with curios in DD1
What was that one enemy that focused jester in the cove because the guy in jesters back sorry looks so similar to him but this game is supposed to be a Sequel
