Drummer is not behind protective shielding. That's a sound wall for recording reasons. Almost like you put the drummer in it's own sound both.

The pandemic was the reason why they did this as a live-stream rather than as a concert before a live audience. But the "protective shielding" isn't about that. It is a sound wall to reduce the accoustic "bleed" from the drums into the live microphones, due to the close proximity. The speaker cabinets and directional mics can be strategically angled to reduce the bleed effect from the speakers and amps, but the wide accoustics of the drums need an additional layer of buffering to prevent the recording from registering drum echo, especially where there may be a microsecond difference in timing between when the drums sound in their own mics, and when they register in the vocal mics.
