what im seeing is a story about a girl who is extremely insecure about herself, and she found a man who was able to put up with it when all he was interested in was sex. she knew this, but she felt like she needed him to validate her.("why i can't stay alone just by myself? wish i was comfortable just by myself. i need you, i need you, i need you...") he'd make her feel bad about herself (all of the pointing and laughing) so whenever he wasn't around she'd feel a lot better and more youthful (her playing with the children). she tried leaving him once (hence the children beckoning her out and her leaving the circus tent with him in it) but couldn't stay away. when he came around she hid back in a shell and became insecure again (hence her running from the children). she soon realized that he was toxic and cut him, along with other bad habits, out of her life. this is why the guy was behind the fence. just a theory
