In this exclusive interview, Chip Lamb (Team Leader of the Trojan Phlyers Flight Demonstration Team) explains just how vital the T-28 Trojan was, in training the nation’s first generation of jet age pilots.
Chip provides a unique insight into operating and displaying this classic war bird, equipped with Trig Avionics. Alongside his wingman Robert Johnson, they harness the power of each Trojan’s 1425 hp Wright Cyclone R1820-86B radial engine.

In 1980, I heard a T-28 crash on the Dedham, MA golf course - I lived in West Needham - I was lying on my bed, heard a plane's engine cut out and he pilot attempt to start it a few times - he landed on the golf course, no injuries.

9 cylinders, 6 exhaust ports. The 1820 has a very unique sound. “Harley of the skies.”
