T bone has a voice like liquid velvet and I could listen to him recite the dictionary. I think his reasoning to produce this ionic disc is an artistic triumph, anything that shows up digital streaming for what it is. The fact we can’t hear it is a shame but he has made a great stand against giveaway music which ultimately is not fair on hard working musicians who in my opinion make the world a better place. His reverence of Bob is heartfelt and warm and I for one salute him, Bob and the indestructible acetate.

it's amazing isn't it. T Bone Burnett was about to cry over those long ago memories. T Bone has a discussion over the dark side to social media and the harm it is doing. search it out.

"What is the best sounding media.....without hesitation the acetate" can't possibly be correct. As any electro-mechanical process, such as cutting an acetate, can only degrade the original signal (by loosing information and creating distortions) the best sounding media, by definition, must be the original master (tape or file) the acetate is produced from. Every additional step, post playback of the master, can only ever degrade it - schoolboy physics

I've never heard of acetates as anything other than disposable discs of works in progress. Interesting.

Dear T Bone, love the new improved vinyl medium BUT ... what next? If it's not s marketable it's not real. One copy is bullshit, unless you explain WHAT NEXT!

Bob's voice went to sh-t around '95, but the early work is classic.

T Bone attempts to make a point favoring "acetate" i.e. records, by saying it is "the best sounding medium", while admitting that with every play of the needle on the recording the sound is degraded. His own statements indicate it can't be the "best sounding" if, at every play, the sound gets worse. This is the flaw of 'record only' fans who state superiority of the medium, while admitting the sound quality diminishes. Also, the statement that digital medium standards are only getting worse all the time doesn't fly. David Gilmour's remastering of Pink Floyd's "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" shows with digital you can revisit the recording and digitally improve it from a technical and remastering of the tracks. Good luck on doing that with some aged 1" tape of an analog recording slowly degrading somewhere in a vault.

You're confusing a mastering acetate with vinyl production copies.
@samjames2552
@samjames2552 2 года назад
@@kingcormack8004 No confusion here… T-bone even says the acetate is a one of a kind type of pressing… Which means you won’t be able to get one! That’s not a practical option for anyone and so what are we left with?…..The vinyl record which degrades with each playing.
@TheFM_Club
@TheFM_Club 2 года назад
The point of this technology is that an acetate (which sounds great) is given a protective coating (the advancement) so that it does not degrade. He's making it possible to get acetates you can play 1000's of times without an reduction in sound quality. That is the point of the company and the Ionic Recordings.
@samjames2552
@samjames2552 2 года назад
@@TheFM_Club From the indication… Acetates are not available to the public… Just for storage. That means inevitably we need to listen to it in a different medium. So most likely none of us will ever be able to hear the acetate T-bone is talking about.
@TheFM_Club
@TheFM_Club 2 года назад
@@samjames2552 The point of this venture/technology is to make Acetates, when treated with their new coating, available so anyone can play them safely on any record player. They're not available now because they're so fragile. He is making them anti-fragile. At first they're expensive, that will change over time.
