Looks like they just rolled off the showroom floor. Full credit to all the hard-working volunteers who made this restoration happen. Respect

Love the mirrors above the windows on the leading and trailing carriages

That's what the W and E class cars looked like on delivery, a century ago. The mirrors got broken a lot, so ended up being painted over/then covered with tin. The colour of the carriages at the Yarra Valley Railway is the red that was covered up by the tin sheeting that was fitted in the 1920's on 1BW. About as close a match as you could possibly get as it's not been subjected to any weathering for nearly a century.

@@alistairwhite2906 interesting comment. I was wondering whether the W cars had them as well.

@@doughart2720 The early W cars definitely had them, not sure about later ones.

I never realized until recently how Cool Aussie Trains look. I'm amazed at some of the similarities with American Classic EMD F units. The coaches look very much like the beautiful American Heavyweight Coaches from the Steam Era. I was just Bobbing about online and saw what looks like a Double ended F7. Orange Livery and Numbered B72. I'd love to have an HO scale model of that Handsome Beast. Anybody in Australia know where to find models of these. THANKS, SantaFeSteve

Nice. Love clerestory roof cars. But why Royal ?
@brucewilliams8714
@brucewilliams8714 8 месяцев назад
These cars were used to transport the Royals during their visits to Victoria. At other times, the blue SoP cars were the basis of the Vice-Regal train carrying Victoria's Governor on country visits. The cars used to carry the Royal or Vice-Regal crests on the side panels.
