Thank God for RU-vid. So many skills I didn't acquire in school or by my parents that I need on a regular basis now. Cooking, clothing, and even parallel parking. Yup, did it right bumper to bumper first time without touching. Thanks to all the wonderful people on RU-vid for the lessons.

I'm changing career fields from construction to a more professional environment. Understanding the importance of appearance, but having no idea how to do some of these things, I really appreciate your videos. They have been a tremendous help. Thank you.

Hello, the most important thing to remember when looking for a new ironing board is that it is wide with a deep cushioning, the brand is not important as long as it follows these guidelines. :)

No music, perfect. Some of these YT videos with music really is distracting at times but this one is perfect.

You never realise how important a video like this could be until you enter those jobs that require a neat, tidy and presentable front. Forever grateful for video tutorials on YT. 🙏🏼

Very important is set the iron to the right temperature. Check the label of the clothes. If it's polyester trousers the material will melt if the temperature is to high, and that will leave a stain that can not be washed away!

Great series of videos - It came in handy in my hotel room. Still, I managed to daydream for a moment and burn my trousers. I think practice on cheaper garments is in order.

Great video! I iron well but hate ironing creases into trousers. Have to do it though so your video makes it easy. However I always use a linen T towel to stop the shine. It really works. I am going to try the beating at the end to get a crisp line. Once you've done a good crease once you can just keep following it in future. Makes the trousers look really classy!, thanks again.

i would be great if can have another version of full video on pressing the trousers. as we need some tutorial on the other side of the trouser too~~ :D

If your worried about shine you could always just put ABITAPAPER on them , just ask dr Gill if you don’t believe me

I have no problem ironing my shirts but ironing or "pressing" trousers is a time-consuming chore because it takes time to get it right. In this video, I got a couple of tips to make it somwhat easier to do.

I didn’t know this could be done without a large bottle of gin.

When I didn’t have a clothes dryer, and it was an emergency, I used to iron my clothes till it dried. Took awhile

Only wool, or also cotton or linnen? 2. Out of curiosity, what happens to the fabric, that it starts to shine after ironing? Thank you.

Can you do another video with how to press the rest of the pants? Found this video really helpful but the remaining areas of the pants look wrinkled.

Hi Rich, the video is a recommendation for suit trousers. For a pair of Dockers I would suggest following the care instructions that they come with. Hope this helps! :)

The width of your iron board is important; if it is a wide board it means that you will not have to move your garment at all when you are pressing it which will in turn help you create a straight line. Does this help?

Really a great help though seeing how I just got my first suit since I was 12yr old, yes it's has been a while and I like having a suit today. I would have to disagree about not bringing the crease all the way. That is the American and Japanese way. In Europe we alway bring (or any good professional would alway bring) the crease up to the band.

Hello, no problem on the questions we enjoyed reading them. If you're thinking about buying a steamer you might benefit more from buying a better iron that allows you to control the steam on it, maybe a similar one to the one featured above.

Trousers disheveled the British language is exceptional

So, rather than spend 5 minutes to do your Suit, you would spend 5-15 minutes walking to a drycleaner, then you would pay them to do it for you even though they would not do it as good as you can personally and they will take longer and charge you money for it. All in all if you take it to drycleaner it takes more time, uses more money and won't get as good quality, also thats less time wearing a suit which is never a good thing.

Hi, I need Sharp Creases for the dress pants. And I use starch. But I have some questions. When I use the starch should I spray the inside of the pants and iron on the outside? Will this reduce the chance of white shiny residue? And Can I use starch on pants that are poly and cotton pleas answer !! PLEASE !! I use starch because I don't use a steam iron and won't be getting one.

You shouldn't press the steam button when setting in the crease. Steam is meant to release crease and wrinkles.

Your videos are brilliant, but i just cant do what you do, you seem to have the correct hamd movements for this technique....the flick movements , no idea, it takes me 10 minutes ot iron a shirt and also took me 40 minutes to iron 2 pants today and its not good and not bad. i need more help

Please advise what kind of iron you're using. I need a good one but I'd only really want to spend $50.....any advice. The one you're using is probably $100 or so. Right? And thank you in advance

By pressing the trousers you will have more of a visual folder down the centre of the trousers. Does this help?

hi........ u did nt explain hoe to press the opposite side of trousers becoz i do manage to create a perfect crease but wen i press the other sise of leg i get double creases

@mcfartson Taking care of one's own belongings is a satisfying and manly task. Pressing your own trousers actually takes less time than running them to the cleaners anyway.

Diff b/w pressing n ironing is gr8 tip but wen i press or iron picket area, it always leave impression of inside stitchings etc. How can I avoid it? Thanx

I have been "ironing" my shirts and pants for half a century and never understood or really even thought about the difference between "ironing" and "pressing," and so have always avoided ironing my wool dress slacks myself, in fear of the dreaded shine that ruined some suits in my younger days. Thank you!

I've heard this "press instead of iron to avoid shine" more often, but nobody explains the reason. Shine is caused by burning the fabric, how would pressing avoid this?
