Unfortunately we lost brother T.M. Today. He was one of the most beautiful people to grace the stage and enriched the music community immensely. A master of his instrument and a most generous soul ! R.I.P. T.M. Stevens ❤️
Yes it’s true unfortunately. He’d been suffering with dementia for quite a while prior to his passing. I don’t know the particulars of his death. What I do know is a King among musicians has crossed over. May he Rest In Peace.
I've always liked this guy, because he's one in his own . He is original . Nobody plays like this cat & nobody ever will . MR. STEVENS You are the man . LOL
Jeez I miss TM so much. Such a pity that he's not well enough to perform any more. If you have ever seen a show you know that this guy is an absolute category all on his own.
I had tickets for a show in Germany. I was pumped. My buddy and I bought a bag full of beer and went on our way to the venue. Locked doors. Unfortunately the show already happened the previous day. Damn. Would have loved to see him live.
Such a unique style. Plays so naturally, like he was born with the ability. His stage presence is powerful! TM and Jaco. The only two Rockstar bass guitarists IMHO. Sad to here TM is unwell. 😔
I'm sooooo very sad about that news i've heard......... T. M. should suffer on dementia.... met him 25 years ago, where he introduced new amps to the (most professional) audience. WHAT A GREAT HUMAN BEING he is - he has signed my solo CD with "to Christian with love - TM".......... must have a break now, 'coz tears are rolling down my face.
I didn't know TM had INCREASED his prowess on the bass guitar, exponentially it seems! I always knew him to be an excellent bass player(I remember his work with Narada Micheal Walden, back in the late 70s), and I got to see him live in the 90s, when I lived in New York, but what he's doing on this video, makes all that, obsolete. He's on another level now-Ralphe Armstrong type; and I thought the new players like Mohini Dey and Divinity Roxx had left these guys behind; it's good to see I was wrong about this, but then again, I've been away from this scene for so long-oh well... 11-30-21.
My all time favorite bass player.........i have lots of other influences on bass, but i have always felt a weird connection to this guy......i like his wayz and approaches on the bass, like no other player........it's not technical, it's visceral with this guy.....
gary and joe?, you both need to go....cause TM could teach you a thing or 2 in this millenium un focused? worst solo? yeah ooook...!!....BRILLIANT TM simply brilliant !!!
Too bad I'm just now seeing this video today, and I know there are some who are going to be upset with me for saying this, but he makes Jaco Pastorius look kind of obsolete now...11-30-21.
EDIT: REALLY IMPRESSIVE BASS SOLO! Only one thing... It looks cool to hang the bass this low in the strap, but it is bad for technique (so that makes the solo MORE IMPRESSIVE..): the wrist on the left had makes a sharper angle to the arm, which restricts the movement and control of the fingers of the left hand, and makes it harder to spread them (you can try it for yourself..). ergo: he would be a better bassplayer if het carried his bass a bit higher..
@@dfunkshunn 👍🏾. In an old instructional video TM explains why he has it low (because he has long arms and it allows him to play using the thumb and fingers among other things). So no, he shouldn't hold it higher. It works for him.
Amazing talent no doubt but give me a good bass player that can stay in the pocket and keep a consistent funky groove over the super fast playing guys that seem to be all over the place any day. This type of playing that TM is doing here destroys the groove. It's awesome for about 3 to five minutes and then the nostalgia wears off.
He can definitely hold a pocket and has done so in many occasion if you check his recording credits.. Unchain my heart, I should have loved ya etc. This is just his personal project and he is more expressive and liberate so doesn't have to contain himself only in the main role of bass.
Needless to say, your reply was unrighteous and totally out of order. Oh well, as they say, 'it takes all kinds' to make this world what it is...need I tell you what kind you are sir? Also, I wish I had've seen this video soon after it was 1st posted, so that I could've responded much sooner to your comments-but as they say, better later than never...11-30-21.
