T'pau Video - 'Only The Lonely' was the third and final single release from 1988's 'Rage' album. Be sure to check out the promo for Carol Deckers new single 'Just Dream' here on youtube
God do I wish there was music of this standard still nowadays , but its lightyears away from coming any where near . The 70s and 80s were the ultimate decades for sure the 80s topped it off with with so many songs that are still appreciated by so many. Who else out there thinks the same. If anyone builds a timemachine let me know and you can drop me off in the late 70s . Take care and be safe with what's happening in the world now. From the 🇬🇧
Sadly one of the most underrated bands ! Even in the UK !!! Didn't get the recognition they deserved. So even more i'm proud to appreciate their work with best wishes from 🇩🇪. Since their ❤️n' Soul i'm a fan. Still have their debut single since it was released. And i've got the album RAGE, too. Both on vinyl of course. Also this one besides Valentine & others on CD. Their debut album Bridge of Spies i had on tape in winter season '87/'88. Listened to it on walkman, even in the snow near the Alps on holiday over & over again. The Promised was also good, esp. their releases Wheneeever you neeeeed me nooow and Walk on air. My 3rd most fav. band in the end. Love 'em.
One of the best observed songs on loneliness there is with insightful lyrics, superb playing and first class vocals by Carol Decker. T'pau were seriously underrated by public and critics alike and should have had a longer career. The Nightmare mix of this is even better and well worth a listen or several. Only the Lonely was from the difficult second album but it is a coherent album with some excellent moments.
+Andy Harrison It is great. The deluxe version of 'Bridge Of Spies' is out soon with some alternative mixes but oddly does not include the Nightmare mix even though it is one of their most powerful remixes.
Saw T'pau play at the NEC in '88. I remember her singing this song - couldn't get over how amazing her voice was; even better live than recorded ^_^!!!
I miss groups like this. Songs that touch the listener. You can't help but relate too the song your listening too. Todays music is missing the heart and emotion of the 80's and 90's.
Love this song and amongst their best! It also reminds of AHa- Stay On These Roads crossed with Duran Duran- Ordinary World crossed with Belinda Carlisle- Summer Rain crossed with Gloria Estefan- Don't Wanna Lose You!
T'Pau and Carol ... to me the most impressive of all singers in Rock/Pop. Everytime I hear her, when I bought the CDs back in time 'til today, her voice and the music bring this still desire ... I "lost" her for some years, left the CDs in the backrow of my closet. Thanks to youtube I'm now listening every minute it's possible - just like twenty years ago! My fav song? Impossible to name one. Nearly each of them is a gem to me! Thanks, Carol!
A real hidden gem! I only ever saw this video once (on The Chart Show probably) and have always remembered it - though I had blotted out the hat ;o) Such a good song with brilliant lyrics, thanks for uploading! Pete
@ronnor10 I got mine, started watching the DVD last night, the nostaglia was overwhelming, SO SO good seeing them re-visit the flat they lived in back when trying to get a record deal and seeing Carol and Ronnie back in the same room together.
This is a different version from the album, sounds good, gonna get it sometime. Carol's voice is just amazing, I fell in love with her the minute I heard their first song!
JimiM70, I agree with that to a degree, but in recent years there have been more artists coming out that do have heart in their songs. I particularly love James Morrison right now, Broken Strings is just a lovely song.
I was laying on my couch in Calgary listening to Much Music (the god awful version of MTV) and this song came up. Of course Much refused to play it since then because it was not government sponsored) but still a great video. Unless it is Canadian content screw anybody outside of the country. Welcome to Canada. Government approved or screw you.
NEXUS MINDWARPED AMERICA. those record co.video directors / stylists back then ..lol ,different when she had heels & miniskirt like in some of their other videos (Hottie ! with awesome vocal chops !
