Check it out, 1976 senior year in high school, some mornings would wake up for school, warm east winds would be blowing, 75 degs. already at 8am in the morning. Go to school or grab my board, jump in my ol 68 Jeepsteer Commando and in 10 mins. be out in the water chasing utter perfection. Oh, and whats this? wrapped up in foil in the ashtray but a hit of purple micro, o ya. Pop in the cassette of T REX, 1st song jeepsteer, 2nd mambo sun, another day stored in the memory bank.

Listening to these old T Rex hits has been a real treat for me- Jeepster, 20th Century Boy, Hot Love, etc. Really great stuff.... Growing up in the midwest only Bang a Gong got any radio play. Now i sit sick in an apartment year after year not sleeping due to stopping an anti-depressant wtih a senile next door neighbor knocking on my door without pants or underwear on and a 65 year old habitual drunk driver below me who just got out of the county workhouse, cranking "Law and Order" on his surround sound, until my apartment feels like a movie theater balcony (apartment management tells me it's a "young deaf girl" who lives below me.)...... At least there's some nice t. rex songs on youtube......

I can play rings around David Gilmour but I would never say that I was better than him; the same goes for George Harrison. At least T. Rex was original. Much of today's music seems is anything but original. Yeah, if you're a musician and you read Guitar Player magazine or the like you find about bands and musicians that are trying to do something different or be complex or whatever, but it's simply not like the 70's where you had great bands that were very different from one another. From Zep to Yes to Floyd to Zappa to Rush, all of those bands had their own thing going.

This song was released against Bolan's wishes. The last laugh of FLY Records before Bolan started his T. Rex label (which slowly declined in chart terms). And talking of charts: this was kept off the top spot by a certain Benny Hill, and the fastest milkman in the West. How good were the 70s, innit?

Wiki talls the story slightly differently. There it says that Bolan was annoyed with Fly for releasing the song and that is why he left. IE the time order is different record released, Bolan annoyed, then he leaves. It wasn't T Rex label or even Bolan himself that declined. It was glamrock per se.

It is not the meanings of the words it is the sound of them. This was just a fun track compared to his earlier work.When you are young words seem to take on a more meaningful vibe. When you get old you lose some of that.Well Paul better to be into pop or rock lyrics when you are young than words from a certain book. On another what kind of music are you into these days?

T.Rex totally took over our school. On the day.of their gig in Bham there was complete hysteria all day. Teachers must have had nervous breakdowns. The girls used to squeal and dance in the corridors and almost everyone's desk had a Bolan poster on the inside lid. Manic days!

Must have been a hippie with great taste in rock and roll. TRex and Marc Bolan was an special acquired taste. One of my fave was Bang a Gong and stops me in my tracks every time I hear it because it reminds me of my first love in 1971 from Passaic, New Jersey, where we were all little hippies together.

way before my time, but the only music I really listen to anymore is 60s and 70s music. Ive been listening to music of this era for years now...So how is it I never heard this awesome song till now!!?
