My brother, Dad and myself worked at the steel mill during this time. It was filmed on the Speedway side. We were not allowed to go see any filming or we could have been fired. Other movies were filmed here. Like the Running Man, Black Rain and others. Nightmare on Elm St was filmed on the steel mill side in the basements of the Tin Mill. That's where Freddie is dragging his claws. Thanks for the reviving the past. Appreciate your efforts.
@@imwaytogoodlookingtobeyour1188 me and my brother would flex at Arnold as he came in through the gate off of San Bernardino Ave almost every morning. He would drive in with a convertible red Hummer and a cigar in his mouth to start the day.
@@80sLife Cyberdyne was founded on June 24, 2004, by Yoshiyuki Sankai, a professor at the University of Tsukuba. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberdyne_Inc. Cyberdyne is a Japanese robotics and technology company most noted for the marketing and distribution of the HAL robotic exoskeleton suit.
I’m a delivery driver in Northern California and my regular house stop used to be Mattson, the Cyberdyne building. All of their sections and conference rooms are named after characters & actors from T-2. They also have a photo album from the filming of the movie.
I snuck onto the back of that set. For whatever reason they didn't have a guard back there. We got to where the giant fans were then left. I am a huge Arnie and Terminator fan so it was the bees knees.
@@stargazer2504 I don't know, but if they have T2 stuff in there I would guess that either they were tired of people coming there asking about T2, or they were having a little bit of fun with them, but I never recall security having any sense of humor so.
I lived in the valley when they were shooting T2. I used to hang out at the Northridge mall with my friends. I was able to watch them film a number of the scenes shot around the washes in the mall. My friends and I used to ride our bicycles in those concrete washes all the time. They were like our expressways from our houses all the way down to Balboa Park. I would pass by the location where they jumped the semi into the wash almost on a daily basis as I was going to and from my friends houses. An interesting detail about that particular scene is that not only did they remove the planters but they took apart the brick wall and replaced it with a fake Styrofoam brick. There were a couple of small ramps to get the truck up over the curb and then about a foot high off the ground when it crashed through the wall. After they were done the studio rebuilt the wall with real brick. Another trick they used when they were shooting the jump of the motorcycle down into the wash was suspending the motorcycle from a crane and then editing out the cables holding it up. I loved watching this because it brought back so many memories from living there and getting to watch this and other movies be made. And now I’m also craving El Pollo Loco. 😂
@@pc-sound-legacy which mall? There were at least three different malls that I can remember used for various scenes. A couple of miles did have arcades, but the ones I went to frequently were in the strip malls not the big malls like you saw in this movie.
I was born in 1983, and T2 is my favorite movie of all time. Never gets old. Shame that most of the people's houses and buildings that still stand and were in the movie probably have no clue T2 was filed on their street.
I lived in Fremont when they filmed T2 and a friend of mine and I snuck into the movie set while they were filming. We were right across the street when they filmed the explosion of the building. We saw the regular helicopters and then the blacked out helicopters that were filming the scenes. It was a pretty amazing moment for a couple of kids.
I grew up down the street. But terminator was long gone. My parents always said they blew up the building. I moved away and then found out the buildings are still there.
14:02 still one of the most awesomIST of scenes! Everything about T2 is just pure perfection! Heck, I made my grandma watch it one time and she loved it! Thanks for such a great locations video, love all the detail that you gave us🥰
The Robinson may and parking structure located at the northridge mall collapsed during the northridge earthquake in 1994 that's why it was no longer there. The whole mall was rebuilt after. Glad to see this video back up. Great work. 👍
@@Spike0000 I’ve never seen part 3 and I refuse to, but I’ve seen some of the other sequels and they’re ok. Not great and certainly not on the level of T2, but acceptable. T2 was just prefect and near impossible to match, let alone top it.
This movie completely encapsulates my entire existence as a kid in the summer of '91. It was THE film of the summer. You hipped me to some knowledge I hadn't heard b/f either like the fake facade for the cyberdyne building. Kudos on fighting "the power" on this one and winning. You're now in a super-exclusive club along w/ James Cameron himself who can say, "Terminator 2 damn near killed me. But it was totally worth it."
The nostalgia of T2 is intense. As a kid and as mentioned in this video, the scene from Sarah's nightmare of the nuclear war is something that has stuck with me. T2 is Cameron's greatest ever creation.
Great, its back. RU-vid ned to improve as well as the movie companies. We are not all enemies. Fans need to be recognized and these kind of videos are important.
Funny thing, I thought I had missed this video before it was taken down but I did watch it. LoL. Glad everything worked out and you're able to repost it!
23:35 I did a filming location on the Cyberdyne building 8 years ago. The building manager invited me to look around the lobby and on the roof. But, as a full-time photographer in the bay area who works with corporations, I got a call two years ago from Mattson Technology, who hired me to do some product shoot photography, so I went inside their labs....life is full of surprises! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Htpxs0JZZ7I.html
"This video contains content from Studiocanal, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds" I'm in Ireland. I presume you mixed it in with in-film footage, which got it blocked? Can you PLEASE upload your raw footage? Thank you!
Another well done vid! My old roomate worked on T2 when they filmed the future battle scenes at Kaiser Steel mill, where surprisingly his grandfather worked as a heavy lift operator. He said during filming they had dozens of safety meetings and forbidden places that were toxic. Crazy.
With each upload you get better. A lot of RU-vidrs take years to learn new tricks and how to film professionally. You get better with every video. Thanks for the time and dedication you put into your content.
I'll be back LOL (so glad youtube removed the block on this video) I Consider this the definitive Terminator 2 location video Thanks for all your hard work and making exceptional videos. You're Doing it better than anybody else keep up the great work
The reason many shots look like things in the distance are much closer than they are, is because many directors use long lenses, or focal lengths, shot from far away and then zoomed in, which compressses the scene. It’s used too for stunts when someone falls in front of a moving car or bus to make seem like the vehicle is closer than it actually is.
So funny that you posted this video. I just showed my son T2 last night. BTW, I was the guy that stopped you in the parking lot in Torrance a few weeks ago.
We use to live in Pacoima and our friend took us by that bar!! Dude u bring up so many memories!!! Love the channel and your videos have gotten a lot better!!
Man this is awesome! T2 was my favorite movie of me and my best friend (RIP) who I sadly lost in 2020. Cannot count the times we watched it together as kids growing up and later as adults. He would have loved this video :) Thanks for the great work!
Absolutely fantastic Kurt, totally brilliant, I can't wait for more, looking forward to the next upload. i did mention to someone that whilst filming T2 the Rodney king incident took place around the corner from the bar at the time. Looking forward to the next one 👍
My fav film ever, you did the best locations on it of any video in the history of RU-vid, and I've watched a lot, and you trumped them, great job, outstanding video, and I will be sharing.
Bro, this is incredible! One of my favorite movies! Thanks for finding all these locations. Could you imagine how incredible it would be if you could get Arnold to help you find the spots. Lol
You have done an EXCELLENT Research on the location of the Terminator 2 movie . I was in my teens when this movie was released . I still carry the teenage infatuation for this movie . Needless to say Terminator 2 is the movie of our TIMES .
Gives a whole new meaning to the line, “I’ll be back!” Great to see the video back up. I saw it after it was first uploaded and when everything went down, I felt so lucky. 🖤
Wow, I was definitely excited to see this video. I grew up in Lake View Terrace,CA from 1982-94. I grew up in a house on Kagel Canyon Rd. Those locations were about a mile or so from my childhood home. That Corral biker bar was still there when we moved away. There was a park up the road we used to go to & Hansen Dam is right down the road too. We moved to Redding,CA were I spent my teenage years before eventually settling in Oregon, where I live today. I've never been back but I would like to eventually go back and visit!!
Thank you for this great video. T2 is one of my favorite films, if not my favorite. Nice that RU-vid has now released the video, I can hardly imagine how much work this video took.
usually watch you on RU-vid on TV so can't write. the editing is on point you've really stepped up video quality. I think this is your best one so far. really enjoy your videos keep up good work and happy father's day to you.
Отличный ролик, спасибо автору! Это мой любимый фильм, я впервые посмотрел его в 1992 году в 16 лет. Сейчас мнне 46-) Спасибо за обзор локаций съёмок фильма, жаль не все сохранились до наших дней. ------ Great video, thanks to the author! This is my favorite movie, I first watched it in 1992 at the age of 16. Now I'm 46-) Thank you for reviewing the locations of the filming of the film, it's a pity not all have survived to this day.
What a great start to my morning. A fresh 80’s life location video! I knew I recognised that little girl being asked about John Connor. She’s in an Eeerie Indiana episode! Another (almost 80’s) classic piece of childhood TV.
Kurt that awesome, Thank you for your great detail on the locations. Your videos are getting better. I remember when that movie came out, I was in the Navy stationed at 32nd Street Naval base in San Diego but i didn't get to see it till October 91 after my ship got back from Desert Storm. Oh and shout out to your buddy Joe who filmed the Cyberdine building up north, that was cool.
When I went to watch I was thinking it would be your most recent video. When I didn't see it I thought...damn, they got him again wtf then I found it in its original chronological spot🤣 Great video man! This is definitely one of my favorites but you have so many good ones it's hard to pick a favorite but this ones up there for sure!
Very cool video! I grew up in Fremont California and got to see them film the scene when the Terminator is firing the mini gun, also got in trouble for sneaking on the set, it was awesome!
Robert Patrick is the Goat of Terminators. Here's why I was alive during the making of and pre-release, I remember seeing who they cast as the main antagonist to Arnie. I scoffed "I was like this skinny guy with big ears is supposed to out badass Arnie hahaha". Fuck was I wrong. I remember sitting through it saying how the fuck are they gonna beat this lad. The tension was at a 100MPH. Anytime he was on screen he stole the show, he was so menacing for a robot with no emotion. Robert Patrick played a huge part in making T2 an absolute classic and I'm proud to say how wrong I was.
Wonderfully made Kurt!! All the research you did is so detailed is incredible and totally enjoyed the part where you do the re-enactments!! So happy this video is BACK(just like how Arnold would say it)!! I can totally see all the hard work you put into this(and your other videos too)! Again…I’m so happy you are allowed to air this video! 😀👏👏👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉🎉
I used to live in the Naval Housing that used to be right near 103 (you could see that highway from my house) when they filmed the chase scene (Lived in Long Beach from 1989 to 1992). I often passed the overpass (where the helicopter flies under) and the oil refinery, then past the lift bridge towards what then was the naval base at Terminal Island. They filmed for a few days, all residents were alerted about noise from filming and not to worry ( I remember hearing gun shots from the blank rounds they used). Saw the helicopter and the liquid nitrogen truck up close (my dad predicted a terminator would get frozen in the movie lol). Thanks for this, brings back memories!
Dude!!! I am so jealous of this! This is such a great video! Love the detail and behind the scenes info! I plan on a trip to LA later this year to hit these locations. Thanks for the tips! Hasta la vista 😎
