I don't think I'll ever reach the high of exploring mata nui, discovering new secrets, battling the rahi, and solving puzzles at 2 am sweating my ass off as my ancient, childhood computer is pumping out 10,000 BTUs just running the internet.
back when lego went for an older audience. A sense of wonder, mystery and adventure. A tale hidden behind riddles, puzzles and small hints that grow into revelation. I'm not saying they should bring bionicle back, but lego needs to bring back the spirit such franchises had. Even if it's an entirely new world.
I was 7 years old when this game came out Though i suppose that means I was a grown man when they killed the whole series. What a decade, just a monthly drip of content for ten years straight
I agree with this. While a lot of the mystery and ambiance came mostly from Templar Studios (the studio behind the Mata Nui Online Game) it would've still been Lego who suggested it in the first place and allowed it on their site. What made Bionicle so genius was the fact that it found a way to treat kids like adults whilst still being suitable for kids around the age of 7 and up. The added mystery inspired the very thing that Lego stands for....the use of imagination....granted they then explained everything years later but before then it was down to our imagination to fill in the blanks.
I was not even born when this game came out. I was there in the later years to see the answers, but not to witness the mysteries themselves. I can only imagine what it must have been like to be there in 2001, exploring the island, wondering what it all meant.
@@theotheraccount To be honest the later stuff was so disjointed from this that you can treat them separately. I was 8 when I first played this game (after its re-release), and honestly it just feels like it was never finished. MNOG I, Bohrok Saga, and MNOG II. Everything else was basically a different story.
I remember when this game first came out, and I was like eleven, waiting anxiously for the next part of the game to be released the following month, and feeling like that time would never come. Now that I'm in my 30s, I blink and an entire year has gone by. Oh, to be young again.
It was so cool. Especially how the constellations in the red telescope were prophetic of what the next month’s part was going to be. Not too far from 30 myself and I’m feeling the time go by faster every month lol.
i was 9 when BIONICLE came out and i was sucked in almost immediately bought most anything i could, signed up to the LEGO magazine for the comics, heck i even begged my mother and father for basic internet so i could play MNOG they declined the latter but i played it at school recess and lunch break using the excuse that i hated bees as a reason to stay indoors and the first chapter of MNOG that first few moments hearing this exact beach chant stuck with me forever
