there is no good experience when I write. when supporting my hand or part of the arm the touch is activated. in some cases the onenote closes me. it's constant. Is there anything to improve it?
@@alfredomichaelcuencaolorti237 You have to turn on strict palm rejection with certain note taking apps. See this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RX8UqWgSCO4.html&ab_channel=TeohonTech
Thank you for the review and for showcasing different android apps that can be used for note taking, As a student looking for digital alternatives to pen-paper, I highly appreciate the in depth review of note taking capabilities of the tablet.
This was bought to replace an old Lenovo tablet which was essentially too sluggish to cope with modern websites. ru-vid.comUgkxz4qYZoyAOb_hq_UbaKI6AsZX0FnoFm-U This tablet is fast, has a very clear display with built in optional eye comfort shield, great sound with Dolby Atmos, split screen option and numerous tweaks that I've not yet explored. I've plugged a wireless receiver into the i/o socket to connect a mouse if I need it and a bluetooth keyboard works fine - unlike the Lenevo which somehow would often garble the input. Battery life seems good. In short I'm very pleased with it
OneNote for Android does not have the "Ink to Text" feature. In addition, when handwriting, OneNote for Android does not save the additional information that allows converting to text later, regardless of if you open the page in another edition of OneNote. Essentially, there is NO real "handwriting" in OneNote for Android. It is just "drawing" that looks like letters. This is a major difference between OneNote for Android and OneNote for iPad. On the iPad it saves that extra information so the handwriting can be converted to text later. What a lot of people don't know, is that OneNote can only convert handwriting to text because it saves lots of extra information about the speed and direction of the pen tip as you write. This is why there are distinct modes for "Drawing" and "Handwriting" in the desktop editions of OneNote. In "Drawing" mode it doesn't bother to save that extra information. I almost bought an iPad, for this reason. But iDevices are just such a pain in the ass to use in every other way, that it wasn't worth it for just that one feature.
@@luckynam8187 It depends on whether you can tolerate all the crap that comes with using an iPad. I'm being forced to use an iPhone for taking the census, and I hate it. I can't give you an overall evaluation. I haven't used either. According to reviews, iPad has better drawing apps. And it has that one extra feature in OneNote. That's all I know. Personally, I'm sticking with Windows and Android devices.
Watching you write on the tablet is so satisfying. I'm a college student, and I think this'll be good for me and my note taking. I can better keep them organized :)
I have one important question. On the ipads with the app noteability you can take a picture from a working Sheet and it converts it directly to write on. Does the Samsung note app also has this kind of feature where you can scan a sheet of paper directly in Samsung notes and than you can write on?
So far, all I know is that samsung can insert PDF or Photos on a page or even as a page.. and you can basically write on all of them. I use Samsung notes to annotate and make my notes too
To my knowledge, you can do this with the adobe app suite on Android. You use the PDF scanner to take a picture, and then are able to open it and draw directly on with the adobe PDF app.
Yes, with the native notes app you can insert a pdf, existing image, take a photo or scan directly into the note and write on them. You can also use handwriting and text together if you wanted, and still use the image like a photo embedded in a text document: e.g., you can anchor text around a photo and write on the photo in the same note.
The tablet 7+ is about $600 us dollars right now. That's not expensive at all compared to the iPad pro 12inch. And you get a student discount aswell. And you can trade in your older device which gives you more savings.
@@-Prashant-Kumar currently on the US website the S7 price it's $552 and the s7+ $722...with a trade in and maybe student discount you get pretty much $200 or $300 off. That's why I said right now.
I really want this! I have a question and I really need your help as you've had lots of experience with tablets, especially the two I'm considering. I'm not sure if I should go with the budget samsung tab s6 lite or just go all out with the samsung tab s7. I'm a university student and I'll probably be needing this tablet to last me for 3 years at the minimum. I'll mostly be using it just for note taking and social media intake (youtube, movies on netflix). How much better is the writing experience on the s7 than the s6 lite considering palm rejection, display, and responsiveness? I know apple makes amazing tablets but I'm trying to switch over to being all Android/Windows so I'm only really considering these two! What do you think?
When writing, the difference with the improved latency on the Tab S7 is noticeable, but subtle. I recommend the Tab S6 over Tab S6 Lite because that’s more powerful, no lag, and can last longer. Tab S6 is good if you can find it at a good price compared to Tab S7 if the price difference is big. Personally I don’t think it’s paying a lot more if it’s just for taking notes because the cheaper tablets are also very capable at taking notes.
Go for s7+ . It has the best screen and it has great speakers . It also has free pen included and the samsung notes app is one of the best apps for note taking.
@@teohontech7141 Thanks for your reply. In your opinion for specific apps, can procreate be rivaled by other drawing applications on Android, such as infinite painter?
@@yanuarjanuarii Procreate is an app that's really well designed for finger gesture shortcuts, and the drawing workflow is very intuitive. I don't think there's any app on Android that's as well designed as Procreate for drawing on a tablet. BUT Clip Studio is really good, different from Procreate because it's a desktop app meant to be used with keyboard shortcuts, but it has a lot of functionality and is also easy to use, very customisable. I can't say which app is better, they are just different.
@@teohyc super-duper-thank-you for the point you give. Your answer is really good and broadens my understanding. I always look forward and watch your videos. Many thanks and stay healthy for you :D
Can you share the link of the case ? I exactly what I want ... And in next video can you talk about of S7 pen latency I think that you said that S7+ has less latency but I don't speak English perfectly.... Thanks for the video I wanted to know your opinion because I don't decide already if I need the S7 or S7+ because I don't what to expend a lot of money but if is necessary I would buy the S7+ because I am looking for the best writing experience but I also wanting this year the new iPad air... if is not better I would buy the S7+.
I realise this is very late, and you have iby now probably made your purchase. However, for others who need a device mainly for writing (with ability to a.so enjoy media as well), I would suggest that the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is much cheaper, and also excellent value for money.
Tab S7 is noticeably faster than the S7+ in every area and battery lasts 40% longer. The video is incorrect. The tab S7 display is so good you'll barely notice the display difference and you'll never experience screen burn with the S7. For watching movies get S7+, for everything else Tab S7 5G.
Hello Teoh on Tech , Can you suggest me which tablet should I buy between Ipad pro 12.9 inch vs Samsung tab S7+ ?, Main purpose for buying tablet- Mostly Note making, Writing on Pdf, Multitasking (for study purpose) ?? One more thing.. currently I am not able to find any ipad pro in India's market, so should I wait for ipad pro or buy this samsung tablet considering my purpose. ??? Dont have any issue with budget.
Same probem here dude. iPadOS is providing a better experience with likes of same app being opened side by side and better file management, better software support etc. , but this looks more aesthetic and the right size with free pen. Not talking about the amoled screen tho.
@@rraj2095 so should we go for Tab S7+ ???, I don't have issue paying 30000 extra for ipad but want best tablet so that it can long last, and there is no iPad pro anywhere in India except in black market.
@@namdevankit2236 Thinking the same , all the offline stores have clearly said that they have no idea when it will be back in stock and on amazon it is limited to mumbai region only when it was in stock few days back. For longevity I will definitely go for iPad. My iPhone became faulty and hence I am using my old iPhone, it works fine, such is the fluidity with apple.
Hello man, I have the note 20 ultra and fell in love with the s pen, I am a student and I like to write down many notes, currently using one note on laptop and note 20 combination. Do you think this would be advantagous to purchase the s7+?
Leaning towards buying a S7+ due to the awesome blue color and cheaper price. Would like to use it for note taking would you still recommend it? Also should I buy it new or used?
I'm not familiar with video editing on tablets. Computers are still more powerful and desktop video editing apps are just more efficient because there are so many keyboard shortcuts.
@@teohontech7141 I have a desktop I was looking for something I can pair it with to do quick edits on the road! Lumafusion seems like the best option by far but I'm not too well versed on the subject thank you anyways 😁🤙
Compared to a normal drawing tablet would you say it is more responcive? The TabS6 turned me of realy hard writing made my brain hurt beccouse of the lag.
Great video, thank you!! I would love to see a side by side of your handwriting on paper vs the tablet to compare, and maybe see how it feels to actually take extensive notes with it (a page ish), you could even like take notes on a podcast or movie. Prices have gone down quite bit and I think I'm gonna go for the s7+ for college (I have a laptop that's a couple years old if I need to run software for my bio major), I would do mostly handwritten notes and get a wireless keyboard for essays. Would you still recommend it in 2022 for $499 for my purposes? Do you know anything about how long updates will be supported? Thanks!! ❤️
Watching on my iPad Pro so I can practice on my Tab S7 plus, no longer owning a Windows laptop or Mac as in the past, both tablets complement great each other, can't understand the constant bickering from both sides
It’s difficult to say which is better. They are just different. I can use either. Apple Pencil is a hard tip with audible tapping sound. S Pen is rubber tip which is almost silent when writing. Both write fast.
I am a student and want to get a tablet as a secondary device for note-taking for the most part. This was one of the tablets I was considering getting. Love the detailed video you have. Are you planning to review the Surface Pro X as well? Currently debating which would be a better fit for a student wanting to use the tablet primarily for notes and occasionally email/word/browse internet
If you don't need to use specific software that needs to be installed on Windows, I recommend the Tab S6 instead. I've read that performance for SPX isn't that good for the price it charges.
Actually the tab s7 is quite a bit faster than the tab s7+. I have both and the tab s7+ lags in pen speed and is noticeably slower overall. Also the tab S7 battery lasts about four hours longer even though it's smaller.
Which one is more comfortable to use? I want to buy one of them for note taking and social media but i feel that tab s7 is so small and tab s7+ is so large so i can't choose
Thanks for telling people that Samsung notes can take care of PDF writing, what about OneNote? Also, can Samsung Notes be exported to OneNote? Thank you.
do you have ipad air? which should i buy? s7+ or ipad air+apple pencil? s7+ looks good in many cases but i'm aware of lack of software support updates etc.
Samsung is still going to get one, maybe two Android OS updates. And just because there is no more updates does not mean your tablet will stop working. Overall recommendation is to get the tablet based on software you want to use. Samsung as Clip Studio Paint. iPad has that and many more graphic design and drawing apps. But Samsung is cheaper. S7 has longer batter life than S7 Plus
Should I go for samsung tab s7+ or iPad pro for note taking at the university? My handwriting on paper is bad tho and I have heard that our handwriting will look better on iPad (with goodnote5), is that true?
You can go with either tablet. Currently Samsung is more worth the money because it's cheaper and the pen is included. There are also many good note taking apps on Samsung.
Hello! This video has greatly helped me. Thank you very much! If you don't mind me asking, I wanted to ask about the tips, do you often replace it? And where do you get these replacement tips?
I am looking for a tablet mainly for note making purposes and I prefer a bigger screen and I see a lot of RU-vidrs suggest apps like good notes and notability on an iPad. So which one do you think is the best option ? Tab S7 plus or iPad pro 2020 ?
@@teohontech7141 Thank you so much. I have also heard that Android tabs stop getting updates after 2 or 3 years and start slowing down whereas iPad performs well for upto 6+ years. Is this true ?
Hello, I want to ask if you are putting a glass screen protector on. I heard some reviews saying screen protector will eat the rubber tip faster. Also if yes, will the screen protector affect the keyboard cover(i.e. closing the cover).
When I write next to the edge on the side opposite to camera the s. Pen response isn't good.... Is this normal? The pointer of the pen not in the place l put!!
How does Samsung Notes do with "palm rejection"? You may have forgotten to explain that like you did with all the other apps. I heard that when the s pen gets close to it, it won't allow skin to write or interrupt which is good but can you write with your fingers while using it? I write differently than most so I'm worried about my hand getting in the way of taking notes.
Do you use any screen protector? I installed one in my Tab S7 and now my handwriting in Samsung Notes is not as neat as it was before the installation. However, in INKredible app my handwriting is good. Why is that?
Screen protector can sometimes affect the pen accuracy. Inkredible is still good because it applies software smoothing to the lines. There's no pressure sensitivity too but the app also applies thin and thick lines.
It looks that you keep your hand above the tab all time long. Isn't it possible to use it with wrist on a tab w/o recognizing whe wrist as the 'pressing finger'?
I have my hand hovering because often times the friction of my hand on glass will make it difficult to move my hand. It's not due to lack of palm rejection. There are apps with strict (perfect) palm rejection that ONLY take pen input.
@@teohontech7141 thank you so much for a feedback. but what if I want to use it for precise 'drawing' but not within dedicated software? As an example tradingview.com - for technical analysis on a chart. I have tried it on the nearest retailer but it was a nightmare and I am not sure if it is only lack of trainings or palm rejection is so problematic on not dedicated software?
I noticed on the iPad when using the pencil to take notes, it makes an annoying & loud tapping sound. Does the S7 and Spen make that kind of noise too? I want to take my iPad into class to take notes on it, but I hate the annoying noise it makes
Hello sir, I just got the tab s7plus. It's amazing but on Samsung notes my TAB is getting very hot near keyboard pins. Is this common or I have a defective product? ESPECIALLY ON 120 hertz. Also on 60hz heat is less but with 60hz how much is the latency of spen now?
Does anyone know if there a way to use a usb hub or a dock so I could connect a monitor and other peripherals and charge the tablet at the same time? Thank you!
@jdouglas8585 I will not recommend Paper to my friends. US $40 for two pieces is ridiculous. You want value? SuperShieldz that can be found on Amazon is US $10 for three pieces. I don't recommend Paperlike because I don't want people to buy it then come back to my RU-vid video and say "Hey Teoh, why did you recommend that to me? You sellout"
@jdouglas8585 Just so you know. Paperlike actually wanted to send me some screen protectors to review. I said no but went ahead to spend $40 to buy them myself. Here's my review ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-faYStZ3ipPI.html Disservice is recommending something expensive when they can just get a screen protector at 25% the cost. They won't even notice the difference unless they have two screen protectors side by side. And even if they can notice the difference, I'm sure they will agree that $30 savings is worth it. I've nothing against Paperlike. I just don't think their product is worth the money that's all considering there are so many alternatives out there.
You can just look for any matte screen protector on Amazon. Don't spend more than $20. However, I don't really recommend matte because it will affect the colours, contrast. Get a clear screen protector and the colours will be same. When writing, you want to write fast so not having matte is not a big deal.
Tq for ur response.. i just want the same feeling writing on paper.. tq so much.. and one more thing. The S pen r too small to me. Any suggestiin on it?
Thx for the review on note writing. Can you also let us know about the temperature after 15-30 minutes of writing on it? I'm using surface pro 4 for note writing and it is noticeably warm on my palm after just 15 minutes writing on ppt or onenote. Also, can you test whether the standard charger actually pump enough juice while we use the tablet for simple consumption such as watching youtube or note writing?
I want to buy a tablet for note taking but I never used one before so I don't if I'll actually use it. I'll probably use it also to see videos or film/tv series. Now I don't want to spend to much money so I was considering that one or the S7 but I'm also considering the Ipad, the old gen, and an apple pen. I don't know what to consider because I don't have any experience in note taking on tablet and I want to have something efficient for hand notes, to work of pdf and also on powerpoint for example. I don't know how much memory I'll need and if I can convert my notes and works in pdfs and move them on a cloud. The problem with Ipad is that nost of the people I saw here on youtube use apps that they buy, the Ipad has is cost and I don't want to buy apps. I really don't know where to start, what features are important, if note taking on a tablet will suit me, what will work for years and value is cost, I really don't know what parameters I should consider for note taking on a tablet. Can someone help me?
The Tab S7 is good. The lowest price I saw was US $500 on Amazon USA. So you may want to wait till it hits that price again, either on 11/11 or Black Friday sales. Either iPad or Samsung tablets, you will still need to buy apps eventually because some apps do help you save time and do work. Use the savings to get some good apps.
