6 months ago I upgraded my table saw from a basic carpenter's site model that didn't even have decent miter slots to a Scheppach HS501. I then made a set of sleds and sleeves as described by Rob in this and his other videos. This has totally revolutionised my woodworking. Thanks for all the advice and inspiration Rob. Your attention to detail and practicality really set you apart.

With your miter sled, what you referred to as “That little pass through the final joint.”, my Dad called “dressing the cut”. I’ve seen him do it with a hand saw on something as simple as a 2x6 cap rail mitered over a 4x4 corner post on a sun deck. 🙂

I wholeheartedly agree with the enthusiasm!! The other thing that I enjoy is watching him problem solve. It’s reassuring to know that I’m not the only one to make mistakes or have an untoward result. Rob addresses these directly and inevitably ends up with what appears to be a flawless piece with incredibly tight joints and fine fits. I wish Jake wore a mike too as I can’t always understand his questions. It’s not unusual to learn as much by this Q&A as the planned construction.

Your comments at the beginning of this video struck a chord with me. Some time ago I made a negative post about the price of the tools you make available for sale, saying that they were well out of reach for the average hobbyist. However, having returned to your channel in the last couple of months and seen the attention to detail on many of the items you sell and more specifically your generosity and everything you are doing for the combat veterans, I wish to publicly apologise for those remarks. Please continue with your excellent work.

Rob - for your newbie viewers, I’d definitely recommend they add solid blade guard blocks on the operator side of the sled fences so there is no chance whatsoever of that blade sawing off their thumbs. That’s a common sled injury and it happened to my uncle, who at the time was a master carpenter and furniture builder with 50+ years experience. I glue up solid blocks of pine about 5” long and slightly lower than the fence (so it doesn’t drag on the saw table) and glue that to the back of the fence - then glue a cap over the block and the fence. Then I paint it red just to be sure everyone knows to keep their hands away from it. There are examples all over RU-vid.
