This is the highest I've ever jumped Johnny bareback and bridleless before! Great way to sped the day after Christmas.

see the way he holds his head in the trot and canter. THAT'S what's beautiful in dressage, little bit tired of over bending

I don't think people really realize how much bareback riding improves both horse and rider. I think a lot of people are scared too. "Omg! No horn! No stirrups!" You and your horse should have a friendship anyway, and not just a business friendship of putting on tack and going to work. That's how my mare became sour in the show pen. She was too smart to do circles over and over again. So we brought her home and had some fun with her just being a yard pony that kids loved and she loved.

Aspen Dukes, yeah but you shouldn’t do it too often unless you have some padding so the spine won’t hurt

I have developed my posting and sitting trot to much better levels because of bareback. My baby girl loves it, she's so much more comefortable than in a saddle. We've tried fitting her for years, but the saddle that she likes is an old, beat up, hole in the padding jumping saddle. I ride Dressage.

I so wish I could have had someone like you to teach me when I start riding so many years ago. Then it was mostly force to make them do stuff. I love your kindness and it shows in how they all go for you. Must be the most amazing feeling to have that sort of trust in each other. I am in complete awe and still on my bucket list to see you in the flesh working your horses one day. Dont need to speak, just watch :-)

I didn't go riding for over a year due to an injury (totally not related to riding) Those few seconds of the video with your own pov, seeing your horses neck and head from above made me cry. He's the same color of this horse I used to ride all the time, love her so much, and it gave me flashbacks of those days I could go ride for fun and not a lesson... I miss riding.. So so much....

Wonderful riding as usual! Jonny is a great mover, can really see the results of your training. Also I appreciate your background music: nothing annoying like so many other videos...easy piano, then gypsy jazz, then Real Funky Rock. They each matched the video action so well. And of course, your eventing vids are thrilling to join! Thanks SO much.

"Puissant" You have the best seat! I could watch you ride forever. It shows in all your horses. Watching you train Dorado and then watching you ride Johnny without saddle or bridle just floors me. I wish I had all these learning aids when I had my horse. I would have been a better rider. Now I watch you and that's good enough! Would love to know when you will be in Wellington. I live in West Palm and would love to come watch you ride in person.

Thank you Elisa for your amazing videos! It is school holidays at the moment for me and the OTTB I do low level eventing on has been having a bit of a holiday too. I watch all of your videos and this week decided to go tackless on Jerry (the OTTB)! We started slow but have been having an amazing time, I even got him jumping tackless today which I have been nervous to do in our big paddock. I didn't mean to make this so long but thank you so much for inspiring me and helping me get through to Jerry a little bit more!

could you explaine in a video how you use your body and legs to change directions?
@emmajrose5329
@emmajrose5329 7 лет назад
BambiBeauty So, some people do this kind of thing differently, but this is how I turn with legs and my body. How I turn with my legs, I just squeeze with the leg opposite the way I want to go. (example, I want to turn right, I squeeze with my left leg and take my right leg off) Some horses will just go faster if they don't understand, but you can just train them. With your body, how I do that, I just turn my hips and head to the way I want to go. Hopefully this was helpful
@lelukat9808
@lelukat9808 7 лет назад
Jammy...That is a lot of work, I commend you. Im wondering does he get confused when hes tacked, Or do you use the same method.
@emmajrose5329
@emmajrose5329 7 лет назад
lelu Kat Nope, my horse turns without reins very easily tackless and tacked
@Violet-tf1rd
@Violet-tf1rd 6 лет назад
my-welsh-cob Flynn Yea, I indeed ride different: When I want to turn left I lay my left leg a bit backwards and push, but I hold my right leg where it should be, and push very lightly, so that he won't get out of balance and swings out his right hind leg. Also, like you I look left and turn my hips a bit to the left. What you don't do is use your weight and lean te the left; on my horse it works great. When we ride tackless and he's really concentrated, sometimes all I need to do is put my weight on the seatbone in which way I want to turn, and he goes without even using my legs. Not saying you ride wrong, I think everyone should do what works for them :)
@SobrietyandSolace
@SobrietyandSolace 5 лет назад
@@lelukat9808 That's what they teach you when you ride WITH tack though? Even when you use reins you're meant to squeeze with the opposite leg to the direction you're going with your leg slightly back whilst keeping the leg on the side you're turning into on at the girth for them to bend around and adjust your seat at the same time? How is it a lot of work?

my horse much prefers bareback riding. we're both a little chunky so i guess its more cushioned than a saddle xD but she's much more relaxed without the saddle. love it. Wouldn't be jumping any MASSIVE oxers on her though! fair play to ya.

I spend an entire summer riding my moms horse bareback ( just because we didn’t have a saddle for her) and I think it made me a better rider. Not to mention she was faster then any horse I’ve ever ridden. She was a tiny little quarter horse but she could keep up decently with my friends ott thoroughbred
