Considering how many people are at Stephanie’s I don’t understand why they as a group don’t come for a day and help him. He will do anything for anyone. When are these guys going to help him.
Dan, you have the heart of a cinematographer. This (and others) aren't ordinary vlogs they are emotional, moving, documentaries, or cinema. Well done. 🎥
Simple, a local French company is not going to be interested in sponsoring him because his audience in France is too small to make sense for them. And a UK or American one is not going to ship the heavy equipment he need, so it's not interesting for Dan.
“Calvin’s coming next week…I’ve got to get them clicks in, I’ve not got Amaury anymore” 😂😂😂. Dan, we watch for you, your vision, your determination, your explanations, your ideas, your problem solving, your amazing work ethic, your terrific cinematography, your sense of humour. We watch for you, Dan. Or at least I do.
@@pamsweeney1171 I’m only quoting Dan from this video. However, Amaury is still working at La Lande but not living there as he and Nati have found a house to live in. It’s good for them to have some privacy and time for just the two of them, I reckon. I’m speculating of course, but Dan might mean that because of this and Dan being so busy, they have less free time to hang out.
As a priority, you need to rebuild the rest of that column BEFORE you start thinking about putting in the beam and slab concrete floor above it. You don't want to put any more weight on that wall until that's done.
Omg Dan this is like watching a horror film for me… watching you remove those bricks I was watching through my hands!! You are so brave!! And clever obviously lol 😂
I have a strong urge to come out for a week, camp up in the grounds and be your laborer/slave! My day is not complete without watching this vlog. Having spent 10 years building my own place, an 18th centry cottage in Devon, whilst holding down a full time job, and working away during the week for 5 years of it, I have an idea of how hard it can be, but this is on another level, or should I say four levels!
I've got my tent and my plane ticket, when we are approved for campsite nights, I'm in for 5-7 nights. What a great plan. I could probably just sweep every day for a full shift. I'm qualified. LOL
The couple that came to help Dan are lifesavers. What a wonderful act of kindness helping Dan for a day. I wish they would come for another day or two. That would be tremendous. With the brick removal, I was holding my breath and cringing. Keep bricking, Dan. More and more people are watching. You are getting very popular. Best wishes from Yakima, Washington.
O.M.G Dan my heart was in my mouth watching you today . I could hardly breath watching you stabilising that tower. I was expecting it to come crashing down on her head at any second. I am usually on the edge of my seat watching you prance round like Tarzan up there it does nothing for my dreadful fear of heights . But I wouldn't miss an episode for love nor money. Your a legend your doing such a brilliant job. Please stay safe.
Today was the first time I watched your vlog without any fear that you were going to hurt yourself. Seeing the volunteers helping you helped me relax. I hope many volunteers show up to lend a hand.
Every time you complete a section of new brick I feel like I can hear the chateau let out a sigh of relief, as it's structure is gradually shored up, strengthened and rebuilt.
I'm glad these volunteer workers will help you keep the space clear. It's nice to see you in company and not always alone. Greetings from Galicia, Spain.
I was out loud “Oh no, be careful, oh my” as you removed that one section of bricks. You said “Thank God” when you finished replacing those bricks and I was saying it too. Glad you made it this with a pathway forward.
Oh wow Dan what a grand job taking the old stuff out and putting the new bricks in! I was on the edge of my seat holding my breath. Loved the opening too. Fits you perfectly. See ya tomorrow Dan. 👋🏻
Bloody hell Dan, I forgot to breathe at about (05:30) that was nerve wracking just watching that !!! I was never so glad to see a hole bricked up again . Seeing it it yesterday gave me a sleepless night. Glad it was a still, warm night in France last night without any strong winds ! JOB WELL DONE !!!
@@imeldadiaz4164 I understand you ... but be brave ... it really is worth it. Just make sure you are not holding anything breakable or have your tongue anywhere near your teeth !!!
@@brendaheath3731 I think this one was one of the hardest to watch. Him trying to get the first joists hoisted up to the second floor without being pulled over the edge was another stressful one.
@@Ragnar8504 Dan is very lucky to have Calvin to come over next week. They can do some heavy stuff together. At the same time I am really impressed at the work Dan has done all on his own.
At first I thought 20 years, now I'm thinking you'll be decorating and wallpapering in 3/4 years, You knocked off what would been 6 months of work in weeks
I love those daily vlogs. Great work. Can we all appreciate, that Dan is also not constantly bringing up sponsored videos with product commercials like other channels every time? ❤️
While I can appreciate that I'd still be alright with it if he did. I'd love to see him get a cargo drone sponsorship for when he starts doing the roof shingles. Dan has good delivery as a pitchman & knows how to reach his audience - more sponsorship to him! Plus, in addition to being such a hard worker who doesn't back down from a challenge & puts in quality dad time - he's just so gosh darn likable & it does my heart good to see him do well ❤️ And on top all this he is hottie too!
I appreciate the sponsorships it means a channel is getting extra help and has enough support to allow the sponsorship. I would love for Dan to be sponsored. Not only does he deserve it ,but it would also help with the rebuild costs. It literally takes 2 minutes to listen to the pitch from creators and helps them out so much if people choose to order whatever they are sponsored by.
Dont get me wrong, of course I am happy for sponsors but I am watching mainly RU-vid and it can get really annoying if there isn’t even a normal video instead it’s a 20 min commercial. Here and there and if it’s just for two minutes I am totally fine with it.
Nice that couple showed up to help!!! Really great to see that. I see you were relying on that beam to hold everything up! Dan, you are freaking all of us out.
After coming across your vlog last week I am hooked. For safety reasons next time you come across this situation use a bottle jack, long wood beam, and 2 plates to support the iron beam. This transfers the most of the tower weight off of the brick pillar while you do repairs.
Thinking the same thing, He could use a few tools like a flat shovel, bottle jacks, hydraulic platform lift , bigger wheelbarrow and a Bobcat machine. How about running water and electric , Even if they were by generator. This place have a well or what ? 🇺🇸 CARRY ON my good man .
Im amazed that you are rebuilding a Chateau alone that would have taken gangs of builders to build. You must be super human. Me and my husband watch every day and would love to help but New Zealand is a long way to come.
Dan is carrying out the vast majority of the work, occasionally he has some help but it will still take him the equivalent man hours of a team of builders, just over a very long time period of 10 to 12 years most probably, instead of 1 to 2 years, this "most probably" fits in with his budgetary constraints for the project as well, I am assuming of course!?!
.......but then he points to a bigger section of repair on another part of the Chateau, hopefully the old building can maintain her current composure until all the structural work is done and Dan does tackle the challenging sections gingerly, at least he didn't go at it with an SDS impact hammer!?!
It was great to see a couple of people helping you Dan, so nice of them to offer. So look forward to seeing you every nite to see whats next. Please be careful OK. See ya tomorrow 😁👍X
Well done Dan, I was holding my breath while you removed those bricks. Watching your vlogs these past couple of days have been like watching a suspenseful thriller. So good to see you've had helpers today.
Yes, "It's possible"! You don't have to know how your going to do it. All you really have to know is that it CAN be done! I love Les Brown, too! He inspired me as I returned to university to complete an undergrad degree and a Master degree just before I turned 60! It was something I always wanted to do and I'm SO glad I did! There are lots of challenges when tackling something worthwhile but ultimately it's worth it! Standing on the sidelines - cheering you on!!!
A huge thank you to the couple that showed up to help. I am glad that you got that gap bricked in but that still looks pretty shaky. Still I am amazed at the progress you make everyday.
I hold my breath every vlog… I’m scared of heights. But I can’t look away…love every second of your videos. I don’t know how you do it all. You are amazing! Please be careful!
We come here to get the heebie-jeebies scaring us to death, like watching a horror movie! Praying for you as you do this. Unbelievable work, so glad some people came to your rescue.
Dan, you are doing a superhuman project. I believe all us followers are cheering and holding our breath. What an example for your boys, they will learn firsthand the value of hard work and what it’s like to bring a dream to a reality. Too bad you couldn’t get some assistance like get it recognized as an historic landmark.
If it was recognized as a landmark he would probably be constrained by so many government rules and caveats I seriously doubt it could ever be done up in this DIY way at all
The project would be out of Dan's budget if it had historical status or some such listing, but as it had been partly destroyed by fire it's really a virtually no hope fixer upper (Approx. 9,999,999 out of 10,000,000 wouldn't touch it with a barge pole) but Dan seems to enjoy that challenge!?!
That might have been the most precarious part of the entire château, at least of what we've seen so far. I'm kind of glad I didn't realise earlier the last bit of that column wasn't resting on a steel but on a charred and rotted timber beam!
I think I am among a very few who Does NOT need a fainting couch watching you and your acrobatic and balancing skills doing brick work. You think. You plan. You execute skilled bricklaying like putting puzzle pieces together. Then you look back at your masterpiece ......pleased and satisfied...breathing in more than a sigh of relief at your avoidance of any Catastrophic fall of bricks , wall....whole tower....Ah...magic!!!
@@ji8044 So - he is shoring up a very precarious wall with the intent on making it structural sound in future.....for now agree not the best but have a nice thought for the future - he is tackling everything one day at time to make a very sound, rigid building.
Well part of it is safer anyway, there is a lot more to do on the roof line but Dan is tackling it with more enthusiasm than the grinder and the tanks phase which sucked some of his energy out while doing that, he obviously likes repairing the structure, although to me it is fraught with maybe a little more hazard than I would be comfortable with, even in my earlier years, but Dan seems to assess the situation capably!?!
@@ji8044 He didn't actually use the car jack, but the intent was to use it to prop up the wall which he realised was not an option, the solution he used has made that section of the wall safer and without incident, there is further work to do above that at some point in the future, which I'm sure Dan will carry out at that time, I have seen the work of some builders on TV who do far worse and their houses have been up for decades until the unfortunate occupiers decide to renovate them at greater cost, in Dan's case the building was partly destroyed by fire, it's not the optimal way of working but he will eventually secure the structure within his limited budget if all goes well, that is his aim and the majority of the viewers!?!
OH How I love to see people lend a hand and become valuable helpers when it's needed! We all need more people like that in our lives. You are awesome people for doing that! Your jobs are not easy Dan. I love your ability to see what needs to be done, you find a solution and get right on it. I can see a day when you look back and think, "How the hell did I get all that done!" I pray for you each day to be safe and get things done with strength and endurance!
There is a way to fix it using a needle beem,( support it with a small steel beam/s rebuild the whole corner. When done pull out the beam, and patch a small hole ) a lot safer way to do it.
I noticed that wall listing before, so glad you gave it better support right away. The combination of loose stone and brick walls is more like a record setting marathon for you, Dan. Nice to see people stop by and help.
When you see some of those parts up close, it’s a miracle that they’ve actually stood all these years. Suspenseful episode for sure! You had me holding my breath😅😊
Good morning team Dan ❤ Congratulations on the rebuilding Aww I knoooow you had already done the job but Dang Dan.. I absolutely held my breath when your taking out that slab of bricks 🤣🤣 Fabulous intro I must say 🙌👍👌 And amazing to see helpers .. my heart melted with warm fuzzies 🥰 Rest up and we will see you tomorrow ❤
When I first started watching. I said to myself, what in the world were you thinking. Like wow why spend the time and money on that. I just can get over how far you have come on that place. And now I say keep going, you got this. It would be cool to come to France just to see this in person. I can’t afford that so I will just wait for the videos.
Very nice neighbors to help. Please be safe, those walls are so sketching but every little thing you do is making it look safer. Be safe stay healthy enjoy your afternoon
Can't wait to see Calvin again but I thought he was going to burn his passport. 🔥Dang! Dan, just go ahead and ignore gravity and it will let you alone. That was intense. On this side of the planet the gravity must be stronger, because on this side of the pond a post like that would have fallen right on my head. You're so lucky to have good neighbors, friends and low gravity. 🍀🍀🍀 You are amazing and an inspiration to watch. Makes me want to save this 160 year old house I inherited from my mum. Keep going for your dreams. Hug the kids and your wife and have a great night.
We saved a derelict house 160 yo. Stone built in Wales. We had to take out a wall to put in a beam and extension..... using wooden "pins" to hold up half a house was pretty intense.
You are like the Indiana Jones of home rebuilding. I pray a great deal while watching you. 😃 My heart gets a workout praying just to have you survive each day. You are a brave man and a talented one.
