"We gotta air-down" 4 words I wish I heard more of. I am sure a third of the people needing recovery could have avoided the need if they invested in an air compressor.
As soon as I saw this vid coming up next I was excited to see the other view of the taco getting the crap worked out of it , I wasn't sure what Paul was doing or wanted to see the tire chirping (initially thought he needed a lower low range lol) I'm guessing that this was one of the hardest rescues (truck abuse wise) you've done..
Definitely a situation for a decent capacity winch. My Toyota Landcruiser has a power takeoff winch ( vehicle engine driven ) with 75 m of 30000kg rated cable. Normally designed for 20000kg working loads.
If only we could have had those elastic ropes in 1971, a few burial parties I experienced in the Pilbara of Northwest Australia could have been an easier escape.
@@FabRats I've been watchimg your videos about a month now and watching Matts a couple weeks more. Subbed to both of ya'll. The two best channels on you tube without a doubt. I had never heard of a bungee rope but am already checking out getting on from the internet. Yeah, back in the 80's & 90's when I was mud ridin and running the creek lines there were many times one of those ropes would have saved alot of time and effort. Picture a couple guys, both driven 71 datsun 2wd's where only 4wd's should go, haha, we had some great times...never once did we have to walk out. That area was our favorite place, used to primative camp and stay a week in a tent, playing with the trucks during the day and having a great time at the camp. Only people that done this kind of stuff knows what its like, wouldn't trade it for anything....and the campfire cooking we did would make some chefs jealous, fantastic food cooked over a bed of coals from the camp fire and the oven rack was our stove/grill. We didn't need no coleman camp stove, it would have taken away from the fun we had....one of those things ya just had to be there to appreciate. I can imagine you fellas know exactly what I'm talkin about....pure country boy good times. You guys have sure brought back some great memories, guess that's why I'm now addicted to ya'lls video's, lol....thanks for being you and sharing with the rest of us...
Hes said before he likes having an inexpensive rig, but it would be pretty awesome to have a pto on the back of the jeep connected to powered axles on the trailer!
Well, I have watched many of these recovery’s and wondered why they don’t use the winch from the start. It would save lots of wear and tear on u-joints etc. A decent sized winch would be a priority to me but what do I know? Was all over Colorado in a m38a1 with a warn winch back in the day and always got back to the cabin. Too many people now and bouncing around makes the wife upset in her old age. Sixty years ago things in the mountains were still primitive and the people were authentic. I even met Anabelle Stark. (Look her up)
Yoooo I love how you and Matt work together. That's how life should really be, each one help one. Some people will try to grab all the money and hype for themselves rather than share. Keep up the good works guys
You fixed that toyota right, you were working it hard and it just kept going, good video, good camera work out there in that rough country, those camera people got a hard job.
I like seeing the teamwork videos also, seems to be a great bunch of people in that area, Paul, Matt, Casey, and now then we see Eric who seems to be good at just about anything he tries.
Do you run any special clutch on your rig to handle what you use the truck for? I have a 6-speed Xterra and I'd consider an upgraded clutch when time for replacement comes, but just curious if you're running one. Thanks!
Obviously you do not have a SxS. I have had 2 RXRs and a Polaris Quad over the last 12 . Totally reliable, they are not junk. You need to get back in you crib for a nap. Buy made in USA ONLY.
I love the trayback (I'm a Toyota guy) but I can nit a pick here. Your "little yellow banana" should be "Little Yellow Banana". It's earned the Name. You got it in the title though! So you gained a sub. Going to dive into your build threads later this week! Maybe you can help Matt figure out a tongue system which incorporates the slider from a surge brake with a few shots of Yankum rope inners. A lot of the work of the kinetic structure was getting broken at the hitch.
I lived in Seattle in the mid 90’s and got an education in off roading. That yankum rope would have come in handy! Back then a CJ-7 was an alien had to run a short wheel base CJ-5. I’m planning a trip to Utah to get stuck and call you boys!
Isn't it great when yeah need more than one 4x4 tied together and make many tries to get out and other stuff quits working. Oh the wonders of it all. I am told it builds character. Wonderful.
It's good to see the other perspective on these rescues. I remember this one & it's lucky there were some trees to winch off. That was one big hill. Randy looks so young here even though it's only a few years ago. You & Matt make a good team.
Many reasons why Toyota isn't in the truck seg in North America, they wanted to partner with Ram years ago, being they knew what Ram would be, and now look, consumer king, and literally own every record possible, obvs toyota was never able to get that partnership, it will always only be Ram, Ford and GM, specially in volume and MS
So, here's an idea, since you had extra bodies .. could you back the RZR off the trailer half way, and restrap it, so it was tied firmly to the trl but with the rear wheels on the ground, then it would be able to push the whole mess from the rear. Think that would make it easier??
Wouldn’t traction boards have helped? There are enough people there that could’ve shuffled them, and it would be more in line with Tread lightly! I’m surprised you guys don’t have some form of comms in you vehicles.
I'm here from Matt's channel. I just got my yankum rope delivered to me today in California. I figured I may use the new yankum rope someday. I put it in my Jeep.
You want too see true talent and recovery experience? Don't watch Matt. Watch Rory. He's got it. Mr Paul. You and Rory would be Awesome together. Sorry I personally don't like Matt. He's a show boat and fake. Please Mr.Paul stay real. Your channel is awesome the way it is. God Bless.
