I like that you tapped out the Calipers... I was thinking about this and figured it would work because I hate when people use the nut, one more place to fail or work on and get into the disc and like you said... A pain to remove.
What type and size bolt did you use for the drain plug on you dift to axel,i wand to do the same but I don’t kno how long of a screw I need ,did you use a washer and lock washer as well, thanks you for the great video it has helped me a lot
I'm glad the video has been of some help. I believe all the bolts holding the diff in are m8x1.25. I don't remember how long though. Basically all of them are cap head bolts going from the inside out, acting as studs. But I left one out and use it as the drain. I didn't want to order the housing with a drain plug and then tear it up dragging it on rocks.
The rock assault in a Tacoma width is close to 60" if I recall correctly. With the addition of the IFS hubs you add another 1.5" on each side for a total WMS of 63". I am still running the stock Tacoma rear axle so I also run spacers in the rear to closer match the front.
@@Trav74r okay, so it’s the +3 wider axle. I have the ifs hubs already and full rebuild kit. Been looking into that housing to widen my 4runner up so more. I’m building a Ford 9” as well and want it cut down and matched to the front. Appreciate the video I watched the entire thing!
Yea, I'm using a solid axle lockout. Or like you said, you can swap the spline on the lockout as needed. I am using full 30 spline chromoly axle shafts.
